Oliver Lavale has scored his first goal in the A-League Men this season, netting for the first time since 21st April 2024 against Perth Glory.

Talk about making it count, what an ending!

Big parties in Melbourne (and Adelaide) tonight.

Two home wins there i reckon.

AFC v WSW would be a cracking two leg semi final matchup.

Three for me, and two for them.

Shaping up to be us, Auckland, Victory and Sydney in the top 4 at this stage. Adelaide have played everyone in the bottom half.

Not trying to expose 2ndBest for an old bad take here, cuz this felt very true at that stage.

It is just nice to remember that we actually started the season okay, just the wheels fell off after the second Derby loss.

And would Auckland have won if we’d have taken more derby points off them? We lost late twice. It gave Josh the yips. It gave Auckland enormous momentum and confidence, that  vs a draw or a loss might not have.

I kinda like WU and Adelaide. For Aloisi and their underdog attack and for their fortress and Asia Cup run.

I dunno WSW are sometimes fun too.

The big dogs have underperformed. As have we and CCM.

Don’t think we can say lost late twice.

One game lost by 5 goals.

Another two behind and got a consolation late.

Yeah, agreed. First game was very even but they were the only one trying and whilst it was late, it was coming. It was insipid stuff from us, completely underestimating what they'd be like as a team.

Adelaide are a good watch however, ship plenty, score plenty.

They may however not be as prolific without Goodwin.

Hope they win as it will mean AFC will play them in the semis.

If I want to misremember how the derbies went to make myself feel better I bloody well shall! Straws will be clutched. If my memory is sieve like I’m guna get some benefit from it…
One loss by late goals, one by one goal.

Also Auckland-Phoenix how’re you handling double fandom?
Massive amounts of happiness insurance I guess…

The A league bosses must be hating having Western United in the finals with their crowds.

But they really have a very attacking good team.

Could see them scoring 4

You might be right. Botic notches a second, Reds defence looks leaky.

Botic hattrick! Great recovery from Grimaldi after he gave away the ball on the edge of his own penalty area.

Must say tonight's game has got me excited for WS vs Victory tomorrow.

Wish we had a young Kiwi striker/s like Botic and Goodwin (wasn't in Adelaide squad tonight) scoring frequently in a decent league at the moment.

Colloty has six goals in 17 games for Peterhead, who will be promoted to Scottish League One, and Waineo finished a tough season with his third season goal last weekend (Loan deal finished and released by Plymouth).

Sapsford levels it up. Nicely worked goal with the assist from Borrello.

That attack from Victory was just so fluid. But couldn’t find the shot. WSW with bodies in the box.

Two players on Arzani not enough 😄. Is it time for him to take the reins at the Victory?
2-1. Not sure if the scorer, but a cool finish too.

Apparently WSW haven’t won a finals game in 10 years.

They’re very similar to an Uffie team. A lot of firepower and a fair few good games throughout the season, but not much under pressure.

Ten minutes until kickoff at the City-Western semi and I’d estimate the stadium is less than a quarter full. We got a way bigger crowd when the Nix came here to take on Victory.

Gotta give the active support credit though, I’m sitting not far off the centre line listening to the north and south terraces trying to out-chant each other which certainly adds to the atmosphere as a neutral.
