Watching Piscopo and Duncan, and knowing how long Kosta and Marco were there I’d have to support Victory over Auckland currently.
I’m going to have to come up with a formula. How many ex-Nix players, how crucial they were, did we part on good terms etc and how well they’re doing…
I think with Oli Sail, Nick Pennington and David Williams that means I’d have to support Perth over AuckFC.
Sydney- Uffie, so I’ve got them over the Aucks.
Auckland get points off for Corica, McFlynn and the nose tweaker guy, but points on for Ali Williams and (yeh, sorry he just seems cool despite his politics and Bournemouth just beat City with a coach he hired and stuck by in the Premier League. Loyalty and a plan.) Bill Foley, all their back line including subs, but points off for their imports after Sakai. Sakai of course is double points.
None of the imports are Steven Taylor levels of entertainment or history. They seem a bit interchangeable with any other 1-2 year import at any other club.
No points for Rogerson and Mata yet, they gotta show form over a longer period. No points for Howieson, cos he turned down the Nix, until he out set pieces Brimmer. No points for Gillion until he survives some rough treatment away in Oz and comes through it.
I’m staying neutral on the Mowbrays, just. If I didn’t know bits and bobs of dumb stuff I’d be proud of them for repping NZ, so I’ve got to weigh both- and I’m holding neutral for now.
Becker, too, I’m neutral. Doing a good job hoovering up Auckland corporate cash. But I think so far FC is a little bland, which it probably had to be. And he worked for the City football group and I grew up following United, mostly through the newspaper!
So I support Auck FC against some other teams. And much more if they chop Corica and McFlynn and hire Des or Horse or promote Danny Hay or Ramon or almost anyone as coach and pick up anyone with more connection to Auckland or New Zealand than McFlynn. Even if it’s Simon Power or Simon Bridges or frankly Barnaby Joyce.
McFlynn’s era Sydney were our bunnies, then a bunch of whiners, divers and handball goal scorers. For me they have very, very few redeeming qualities. He’d have to marry Rachel Hunter or something similar for me to find respect for him and Corica.
Plus I’m no fan of rich Sydney boys like Michael Clarke who use to much gel and carry a mirror: Allan Border sums it up to Dean Jones who was wanting to retire sick in India (and who took 6 months to fully recover afterwards, going straight from the game to hospital and onto a saline drip)
“when you go back in, you can ask them to send a Queenslander back out, because that’s who we need out here.”
Over in the ALW, Kelli Brown denied another long range goal
No doubt about this one 🟥
Krzyzaniak is sent off for this save well outside the area and the Jets are down to 10 chasing a 2-goal deficit 😱#PERvNEW is live now on Paramount+ 📺 pic.twitter.com/kCj76T6GoH
Pretty sure this is the 5th time an ALM team has lost their first four matches. CCM did it last season, somehow I don't think the Roar can repeat that tho.
Saw a tweet about The Cove having a lot of things banned for this match cuz of previous incidents on the marches. So they might not have got permission.
Fantastic atmosphere here live and very good game. 2-1

I'm more surprised that Perth have a point at this stage to be honest.
The El-Sharktico between Brisbane & Perth on December 21st promises to be....dire.
