How many of those 8 finals games have been at home?
Only two of them by my maths??

Elimination final – 2015 losing 0-2 to Melbourne City
2nd leg semi final - 2024 losing 1-2 to Melbourne Victory

That MCY game was an awful listless performance, but the VUC one had plenty of drama and could have gone either way.

But yeah the Nix have too many times finished 5th or 6th, and gone out playing the elimination game in Aussie. Less a mental state thing, and more a need to be in the top four thing. Plus the 2020 finals game against Perth in Sydney, should have been in NZ if not for Covid.

Even if you assume there is only a 25% chance of the Nix advancing from a finals tie, that still leaves you with a 13.3% chance (0.75^7 x 100) of being knocked out 7 times in a row. What the Nix have managed to do is truly remarkable.

Jets have a great press and forwards who run direct. Clayton Taylor has a great goal scoring record now. 3 -2

Jets are absolutely brilliant to watch.. mark Miligan has done an amazing job there, I hope they win the double if we don’t (we won’t).

Robert Stanton had the Jets on the way up before Milligan took over, so isn't all Mark Milligan's doing.

I think it's down to the constant desire to make the top 6 and not the top 1. From day 1 I have always said that we should have the top spot mentality, not the let's make the top 6 mentality. That's the difference between winners and losers. That mental fortitude.

see I think that's a misread from us as fans.
top six was always mentioned as a minimum ie you have to make the 6 or serious questions need to be answered. Dome and various coaches have always said the aim is to win the thing it's just never been said this is our minimum expectation.
It's like anything - you aim to be the best but you also have a point at which your "happy" reaching if you do not reach your target - you know the saying "aim for the moon and if you miss you'll be amongst the stars"

its not about aiming for the 6 and being happy with that, its aiming for the top and being ok with reaching the next stage.

If Perth hadn't scored in the last minute we would've soared to the dizzying heights of 9th.

Sydney and Adelaide locked at 1-1 at the moment.  Tuned in late so dunno who scored and when.

Edit 1: That pitch looks bloody awful what is going on with the strip right through the middle.

Edit 2: Super rugby is why the pitch looks the way it does.

Jeez we might be contesting WSW for a new gaffer come seasons-end. Mariners come from behind twice to snare a winner in the 89th minute.
