So as coach he’s won titles in Australia, Japan and China
Wonder if he’s a chance of coaching somewhere like Rangers in the SPL

Yes that's right. I think he was also mentioned as a possibility for Celtic when Ange Post left, but the fact Muscat had once played for Rangers (only 22 games) was an obvious issue.

Draw for the round of 16 takes place next week on 12 December
I really don’t get it. Their crowd was pathetic. Marinos are legit a good team and one of the best in Asia, why would you not want to go and watch them? Someone online was trying to tell me about tribalism, I’m a dons fan, we travel all over regardless of location and have rivalries with plenty. Aussie teams don’t give themselves the chance of disliking anyone else because they never turn up.
Having massive ownership dramas right? Which mean the upbeat days are over?
If you look at their regular season crowds last year they fluctuated between 3k and 11k with the majority being around 6-7k, their final regular season home game was only 6.2k despite them being the best team in the comp and a few days away from competing in the AFC Cup Final.
I feel generally CCM have a small rusted on base and only when they are in a big finals game will you get other locals bothering to show up
CCM is also hampered by having a large percentage of fans commuting to Sydney for work.

The Mariners had their Keeper sent off just before half time.
Hasn't been a good campaign in Asia for them this season - also the crowd in Gosford was only 1,610
It means they finished bottom of the East standings with only 1 point from the 8 matches.
In a combined East and West table they would still be last as the last placed West team Al Ain (Last year's champions) finished with 2 points.
Not a great campaign for them, but I suppose they will be glad the long travel and extra matches are over so they can focus on trying to sneak in to the top 6 domestically.
Sydney FC play the 2nd leg of their Round of 16 tie in Bangkok at 1am tomorrow morning NZ time

Let's hope SFC do better. In the highlights the Mariners didn't even register a shot on target...
It's a pretty bad look for the ALM. It shows how weak the league is. And yes the Mariners aren't what they were last season but finishing last losing just about all their games ain't good enough.
People compare the AL with England's 3rd or 4th tier comps but I think it's below those tbh
They evened up to make it 2-2 in the 88th minute which forced extra time, then Douglas Costa scored the winner in the 100th minute.
Their Quarter final opponent will be either Port FC (from Thailand) or Hyundai Motors FC (Korea)
We will face Joenbuk Hyundai Motors from Korea Republic in the Quarter Finals of the AFC Champions League Two 🇦🇺🇰🇷

I caught the 2nd half and was surprised that Sydney FC actually looked the better side for periods. Jeonbuk dominated possession, but Sydney seemed to create the better chances.
There was only around 2,500 fans there so obviously Australia arent the only ones who tend to ignore the continental comps - I expect Sydney should manage a bit more than that in the return leg next week.
Also Gus Poyet is the manager of Jeonbuk!

We're not an AFC nation, all there is to it and has been for a very, very long time now.

Big implications for Sydney FC’s possible next opponents in the ACL2 if they get through — Valere Germain should have been suspended for Sanfrecce Hiroshima, according to this report! 👀 https://t.co/bwHaNhpGbb
Confirmed that Lion City Sailors have been given a 3-0 win over Sanfrecce Hiroshima due to Sanfrecce playing Germain.
Sanfrecce now have to win the 2nd leg by 4 goals to advance - although they did originally win the 1st leg 6-1 so it is very doable for them.
Will certainly help Sydney FC if Sanfrecce can't manage a 4 goal win as it will give them an easier route to the final (which Sydney would host should they make it that far)
Big for Sydney, if they manage to not lose by 3 goals tonight then their path to the Final (which they would host should they reach it) has become significantly easier
2-2 on aggregate - everything to play for in the 2nd half for both teams.
Sydney FC had an early goal from Klimala chalked off for offside
5-2 on aggregate.
Sydney face Lion City Sailors from Singapore in the Semi's
Hopefully Talay needs rotate a few spots.
Same happened way back in October, Smurfs losing 1-0 at Mt Smart, a few days after losing to Sanfrecce Hiroshima in Japan. Helped AFC that Costa picked up a niggle against Hiroshima and missed the match in Penrose.
Jammy all season the Black Knights.
Though the constant travel famously didn't affect CCM last season with their treble.
Hopefully the kids are enough then!
