When are the famous Port creating their own forum?

With all the "investment" in AFC, I am surprised the club have not set up either a non club website/forum for their fans or on their official club website a forum for their fans.

If they just stick with Facelessbook, Then it will die. They really need to get together out of their own pockets (Like the YF did) and get one running. Even if they copied this model that the YF use. At least it would be something fan owned and run. If they can't be arsed doing it, then they won't grow their own fanbase.
Can’t wait for us to have our own forum! Lots for AFC to do in very little time, I think making a forum is pretty low on the list tho. But good idea of yours, it’ll happen soon I’m sure

Therefore why don't the Auckland fans do their own website and forum??

Pretty quickly. I didn't join till about 2 months after the initial idea of the club was happening. And the site was up and running independently of the newly formed club. Others like Greenie or Hard News can give you the actual dates on everything. They are legends of the YF.

Yep, as I said don't expect too much. If chants come they come. Id expect we'd just change the same old ausies chant to same old Aucklanders or something like that.

Good luck then, despite your thoughts on YF, they have set a high bar for you guys to aspire to. This forum is my only connection to YF excepting enjoying their presence and input at games that I occasionally attend. I only say that to try and show that I’m not big on being involved in active support myself but I seriously rate YF and all,of its different “elite” members over time. While AFC have immense riches, supporters groups don’t have owners with bottomless pockets so you are going to have to work a lot harder to set yourselves up with hard graft and your own finances (just like YF did). While I understand your call from banter, we only really want to beat you guys at football, there are no prizes for saying the cleverest thing on someone else’s forum and I look upon, what I have seen of,  the Port as being a pesky younger sibling wanting to play with us and our friends, while offering nothing that interests us older kids.

I'm going to stand up for the Port poster on here... Stop being so bloody precious!

I don't see them coming on here as trolling - especially if we set up a page specifically to let it run wild. So long as they are not on every page spewing crap who cares.

Why have a page on here dedicated to the other team, if you don't want to engage with them when they come on - stay on the other pages.

A healthy rivalry can only help grow the game of football in NZ... something I would of thought we could all get in behind!
Not really sure why anyone on the YF forums needs to stand up for a Port poster.
This is the YF forums where there are threads for all the other teams in the competition for YF members to discuss the other teams. Im not aware those threads were created so fans of the other teams can jump in to create banter.
As others have said it will come why try and force it. For me thats whats great about YF it isnt forced its not overly organized and things just happen mostly unscripted.
The mere fact its Wellington v Auckland is enough to create banter for many of us. YF has nothing to prove our record speaks for itself its the new boys that need to prove themselves and with something more than just abusing YF and The Phoenix
Just two things here. First of all - ‘mostly unscripted’?? What part of the forum IS scripted??
Secondly - the YF kind of do have something to prove and I’m legitimately hoping it happens…the YF have been boring for years. Small turnout to games every week (unless the nix are in a playoff match. Only sing when you’re winning mentality etc), hardly heard from the stands, average selection of chants. The port is ready to go and we’ll be there every week belting our lungs out. Would be great if the YF would raise their game, it’d be a great advertisement for the game here in NZ

I'll be sitting with the Tāmaki AFC left-wing supporters for at least some games. Yes, I know what the vast majority think of them. Which is why they need my support. And I'm pretty sure they won't be chanting against the Nix unless Rob Morrison sacks a bunch of Infratil workers or some such.

Haha wow I didn’t expect that. I think I’ve heard of your group that you will be sitting with/supporting. You do you!
Just curious - do the Phoenix have a left wing anti fascist support group, or any different supporters cliques?

I’m not sure how sharp some people are here but by raising to the bait this thread is now quickly turning into the exact subject that the port soldier proposed and wanted.

I enjoyed the old one so let’s get that back on point.

Do you know anyone who is thinking of sitting with the P0rt? Are there any ex-Fever joining them that we know?

i have a port membership - planning on joining the active zone and I plan to continue to be a fan of both teams - and if some of the other guys from the port have a problem with that I couldn't care less.  I won't be singing any anti-Nix songs, not my vibe.

Any others from Ellerslie or elsewhere possibly signing up or guna be casuals you know of?

One of my friends told me he was going to buy a shirt, but he was changing his choice of name from Sakai to Paulsen. Not sure how much he’ll be able to get to games though or if he’s an active support type of guy.

I think we have maybe 10 or so people joining the Port, quite a few season tickets brought by club members - over 100 I think.  that will only grow.  We are going to do busses from Michaels Ave to Mt Smart for game days for Ellerslie or any AFC members who are there.  Pre and post drinks at the bar, will setup away game watch parties as well.

I don't know whether it's a culture clash between AKL and WGN, but simply because of the success of Rainbow Fever, I've always felt the YF at a whole is "liberal" if not leftie. The people who *did* think it was funny to use homophobic chants decamped to the Thorndon Terrace.

Think Auckland City are off to the UAE shortly for the Inter Continental Cup thingy which I think means they miss the first round of the national League at least so will have some fixtures to catch up on before having a friendly.

It is a little offensive to female players, but not the most offensive thing hurled at a footballer over the years. As far as YF having factions, as said above I dont thin there is any now, the odd bods that wanted to be a little extreme formed the thorndon terrace group who I think are still around but seem less vocal.
From afar, the YF seem to be just a good group of people who want to celebrate footy. They love a good cause, thanks to some very hardworking people within the group and in general the rest of the fan base love them. I sit outside the YF on game days, cos I like to sit occasionally.
I'm looking forward to the derbies, but have never understood fan groups that take a political stance to a football game......it's unnecessary and seems to result in games being less enjoyable for the majority.

But it is offensive, and even me someone born a lifetime or two ago in 1969 can see that. Go and chat to any females in your life if you are truly blind to see why.

However yeah agree I don't know why you would be doing pro Palestinian chants at an A League football match. I doubt Bibi and his far right nutty friends are watching. Hop on a plane and take the same chants to a Beitar Jerusalem match, if you very bravely want to make a real stand point on that issue.

Wonder when the import announcements are coming through? Strange situation to have three lined up and out in the open for weeks, even announced by the players themselves in Gallegos' case. Think a couple of them are in the country right now; perhaps waiting for them to all be together for a joint thing

Does seem a bit odd.

Think for an import you would want to drip feed each one as they arrive, with their background, hopes etc and have three news stories rather then one.

Very interesting response to a point about homophobic chants.

But the more fundamental issue is: one woman's "not being a cod" is another woman's "how dare you shove this woke PC garbage down my throat while I'm trying to watch these p**fs play football"
