Didn’t mean to upset anyone.

No I haven’t been banned, thank you.

So how about our AW’s today? Good result in my books

Hi all,

To save everyone some grief, we're going to lock this thread for a couple of days to give some people some time to reflect and chill out.

When it's reopened, we'd remind everyone that this is a forum for phoenix's fans. That's why there will only be one thread for the other NZ team so all related chat around the club can stay in there. And yes, there will be people who support both teams, but if people want to come here to troll/bait phoenix fans, they'll quickly be banned. There are plenty of Facebook groups people can use.

Nix and almost all clubs don't bother. Logically it's a pain, so they need to use a travel agent. And then the cost ends up being more than you could arrange yourself.

We organised a trip to Napier back in 2013. It was $190 for bus and 2 nights accommodation.

Check out these prices!

490 for this.

And 700 for this
upn24d.jpg 46.91 KB

Yeah the prices surprised quite a few of us! What do the nix put together for your away packages? Is it a lot cheaper?

Booked separately I'd worked it out to be about $360 for that $490 package.
Caveats - Intercity prices as a rough guide. Food & drink and other incidentals for the entire trip mean you probably wouldn't get much change out of $500...

Huge props to them if they can get a decent crowd over the ditch once a year. Even as Auckland's biggest hatter (with love of course) I hope this tradition is successful going forward.

Massive "if" though. I've been up to Auckland to watch football twice, and both times I've never experienced such a passionless and completely ambivalent crowd. I may well be wrong, I just can't see them getting the numbers for that
Annual finals disappointment enthusiast.

They got offered by Willament Travel a "cheap deal", which to everyone was quite expensive. As you said, the YF did a cheaper and brilliant job. The best Road trip ever. I miss it. We need a game in Napier again. On later excursions Willament Travel offered deals but again, way too expensive. They must have thought every YF fan was a Platinum Card holder.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Would be funny if this ended up being one of those unexpected rivalries (assuming they actually sell out the away section)

"So Sydney vs Auckland huh? So what's the rivalry over?"

"Idfk the Aucklanders just keep turning up en mass for no god damn reason"

Well some folks do coin Auckland “Sydney for beginners”

Like JJ I seriously doubt they can sell out the away bay. But pure maths does say yes there will be more expat Aucklanders in NSW than Wellingtonians, if that means much

yep, overseas some fan groups even run their own travel agency. There should be a healthy seperation between supporter groups and clubs.

Wondering where Auckland will use their last import spot, and whether it will be an import like Foley said it might be.

Squad with the rumoured imports looks like this:
IMG_7333.jpeg 501.51 KB

My guess is the last import spot will be used on a winger. Corica will likely play a 433 but could potentially see a 4222 with May and Mata or another striker up top.

Free agent marquee level wingers include:
- Ivan Perisic
- Carlos Vela
- Andre Ayew
- Denis Cheryshev
- Nacer Chadli

Free agent marquee level strikers include:
- Anthony Martial (lol)
- Wissam Ben Yedder
- Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting
- Kemar Roofe
- Mario Balotelli

Balotelli would be incredible for the league though.

Three for me, and two for them.

I was just trying to think what trouble he could get into in Auckland. Still after his career he might enjoy the city. Go to a few Warriors games. Not be the biggest deal in town.

Mario Balotelli. Yes, just do it for the LOL’s. He would be an absolute sensation off the field. It would be 100% show biz. He probably could bang in a few goals in the ALeague but he stopped running years ago(apart from the police)

His scoring record last season was honestly very solid, 7 goals and 1 assist in 939 mins. Looks like he missed a big chunk in the middle of the season with a knee surgery.
