Mostly you are a serial dickhead and started off your posts by insulting a longstanding forum member.

I’ll forgive the spelling nazis but seriously the Port Soldier, you need to give it a rest. This thread is not about comparing the clubs and highlighting the differences in attendances.

It’s a place to come to find out what’s up at AFC and to be frank is bloody awesome for info and some opinions. This is supported by the number of views and posts.

I’m not going to get my info from Facebook and until a forum starts for the team, you need to really act as a visitor here and respect who made this forum,

Auckland will rise once more

I wanted this to be professional, efficient, adult, cooperative. Not a lot to ask. Alas, your Mr Port Solider did not see it that way... so he won't be joining us for the rest of his life.

Nah, keep him around.
Guy comes on here to talk more about the Nix than he does his own club. 🤷‍♂️

I mean, they won 2-0 and the guy comes on here saying the best thing about the weekend was seeing our crowd? Give me strength...

80 odd posts and nothing insightful, or even remotely intelligent relating to AFC or football in general - And we even made a thread specially for him! I mean he had so much to go off from the weekend and he still chooses to talk about us? It's a bit sad really.

We'll naturally stop hearing from this guy when Auckland start copping a few harsh calls and all the glitz and glamour washes by the wayside. Historically speaking, we might not even have to wait that long.

Can’t speak for everyone but a lot of young fans in Auckland I know who’ve followed the nix over the years are stoked now to be able to get around a team we can see week in week out that represents our city. On the other hand you’ve got types forcing this behaviour which is a bit cringe to see aye

Yeah, as I've seen elsewhere - it was wonderful to see all the young lads and lasses running around in the blue and black supporting their team. And as far as I can tell the majority of The Port are cool customers. Always got to be a flog or two though

Fwiw I've seen discussion by Port members about how much of an embarrassment this bloke is to them. Hopefully the wee lad figures out that his schtick isn't impressing anyone and doesn't just come back with a new account.

I'd be stoked with that too if I was an Aucklander. So I don't begrudge people who may have shifted part of all of their support to Auckland.

it's the same principal for why I don't support Auckland. Yeah they are another New Zealand side, but in my eyes, that are just another team in the league.  Like any other team, I want them to lose/draw because that is better for my home team.

I just find it super weird that people have tried to act like we are cross town rivals for 100 years. Just embarrassing.

Also croud discourse is so dumb. Sure, we had a good season last year, but Kiwis love a winner so the bandwagon doesn't kick into late into the season. Last year we were top of the league for long periods but still have crowds of 6,000-8,000.

Perth Glory hosted the final in 18/19 to a crowd of 56,000. Then first game the next season got 9,800 to their opener. That's in a city of 2 million.

Comparing us, a region of 5,000,00 with a crumbling economy, to a fancy and cashed up new shiny thing in a city of 1.5m is just stupid.

Just gotta get up and running again

I always try to get my mates to come along to the games and a lot have said 'ill make it to the derby'. Whether or not they actually come along is another story but it does show that there is interest going around for the game.

Would CCM be a good comparison? Really disappointing attendance from them in their opener - also a small catchment area, with a rebuilt squad following a successful year

6,500 for their first game last season and 6,900 this season.

I'm yet to see a massive bump in crowd when the non big 4 do well.

Problem for the A-league is that people around Aus and NZ have this attitude of "Oh I'll start attending if they're doing well" which is a byproduct of the league being so young. Annoying but not much you can really do, just gotta do well and hope the bandwagoners join in

Okay - I know this is a silly thing to get annoyed by - but why do people keep saying "up-the-port"?! Shouldn't they say "up the knights"? The Port is the support group, not the team. It drives me insane.

Edit: my post made no sense with the autocorrect (:

As for their actual match, I've gone through a rollercoaster of emotions since AFC materialised and will say that, at first, I did want Brisbane to win. But as the match progressed I kind of settled into a "true neutral" state and didn't feel anything either way other than mildly surprised at how crap Brisbane were. AFC looked better overall and will definitely fit nicely into the A-League.

Also, Bimbi looks so relaxed and genuinely happy - it's weird to witness.

Yip, it's the most stupidest thing since the Port formed. The cheering for themselves instead of the team.

Imagine the Fevers catch phrase being Come on you Fever (COYF) instead of COYN, just doesn't make sense

The ACFC v Nix rivalry was genuine. For the first 10 or so years anyway.

Geez that’s not bad..!

To be fair ‘Back for good’ was a decent one. Needed to be bigger or better positioned for the camera.

Tell you what though, if he bangs in another goal or two that infectious Logan Rogerson grin is going to look great on a billboard.

Fun fact. The closed the Phoenix have ever got to a Yellow Fever zone?

Cairns against the Roar a few years back.

Don’t want to head into the sensitive area of attendances but it is important for the Auckland team.

Be very interesting to see what they can do this coming match. It’s a Sunday which my gut makes it a lot less attractive for an Aucklander.

People came last week and I daresay many of the same will be planning to attend the Phoenix match the following home game.

So first real game without the novelty factor or derby which you would expect to crack 20k

So this game may truely be a litmus test.

I’m thinking they will be happy with anything north of 10k for this one.

Anything less than 8k, then it’s a little bit worrying

Auckland will rise once more
