Beat the Reds 1-nil in a friendly. Goal to Wee Mac. Both teams look like they were very close to full strength.

Though the deal has not yet been signed, it's believed Arnold told his players on Wednesday that he is about to leave the country to negotiate terms, with the club's blessing.

Having been passed over for the Socceroos job for Ange Postecoglou, Arnold has turned his attentions to the overseas role he has long coveted.

The new contract he signed in May last year, to remain at the Mariners for another two seasons, contained a clause allowing him to accept a substantial job overseas.

It's understood that club officials have immediately given him the green light to hold talks with the unnamed club, a mark of the respect he is held in after delivering the club its first championship last season.

I thought he retired about three years ago.

Probably is a nice bloke but has in reality been anonymous last three years.

Think he scored the winner against us at Craven Cottage in 2005.

Not so sure.

They have that Korean guy Kim who plays the number 10 role now.

So they don't need Flores, strictly speaking.

I suspect they want to save money by using one of their cheaper youth players instead.
