He wasn't sacked, his contract was up and he got the Guadalajara job.

Wasn't he the highest paid coach in the HAL during his first term?

Kewell set to announce his retirement today, according to reports.

Didn't he already retire? Has played more golf than football this year, so just sort of assumed he had but came down for a casual kickaround every so often.

He was, at $700K for the season. The next one up after him was Vitya Lavicka (then at Sydney FC) with $500K (2009-2010).
Ernie used to earn some $300K at Victory FC. Our Ricki was just over $230K per year (all these are Australian dollars including RH).

The winning coaches of the Mariners (Arnold, then) and the Roar (Postecoglou, then) were only paid about $200K each despite their clubs winning various titles and qualifying for the ACL.

Interesting that they're getting rid of Gerhardt. I always thought that he was quite handy.

They want the visa spot, probably to loan in a City owned player.

They are trying to get a marquee player, keep Engelaar under the cap and maybe even use the 10 game guest stint on a player on their way to NYCFC for the MLS season. Could be a rather interesting off season.

Reports say it could be Frank Lampard

Heart is to play a Bolton XI on the 23rd of July whilst they are over in Manchester training at City's facilities.

They could possibly go for City's traditional red and black striped away kit.

You know we belong together...

Cue protests from WSW

I suspect the problem with the sky blue was it's a bit unique and already part of Sydney's 'identity'.
The difference between stripes and hoops would probably be enough.

Damien Duff ready to sign in the very near future.

Do you think that if the Heart wanted to change to black and yellow stripes, that the FFA would've blocked it?

Sydney taking care of Sydney interests as per usual.

So they can't play in the same colours as Sydney FC, but they can play in the same colours as WSW? Makes sense.

David Villa will surely be the best player to play in the A-League? Maybe there have been better players than him but none of them have been in their prime. Every club is going to want to host the Heart during that 10 game spell. I think making the A-League is going to be a lot tougher next season.

At least now with that name they can be taken seriously

So a few months after playing in the Champions League final Villa could be playing on the same field as Vinnie Lia?

Well they are not mucking around are they. Villa, a name change and not a bad looking kit to go with it.

First white home shirt in the league, makes sense.

Etihad will presumably be the sponsor.
Villa could win the golden boot in 10 games.

Villa is hardly in his 'prime' anymore; but will still do well. (i'd prob still take him at Arsenal)

Was jealous until I realised it was only for a 10 game stint, which I still think are pointless.

This could be an ongoing occurrence for MCFC. Newly signed European based players for NYCFC having a 10 game guest stint in the HAL before the MLS season starts in March. Building both the brands/awareness of the clubs and the leagues.
