What was interesting re Kayo Sports?

Well I don't think the A-league has streamed there before so I think it's a new avenue. Also I've always seen Kayo as a very good way to get content out there, but I thought it was aimed at more 'developing' league. I remember watching Maldives Football and 3rd division Portuguese futsal games there once...

I think you're thinking of MyCujoo? Kayo is an Australian platform that is essentially Fox Sports online.

What happened to the days of shirts being numbered 1-11, then it became 1-22....? Now it's any number you want.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

Bit mean of us smashing them in front of their members on the season launch day.

No Piscopo either but the Olyroos face CCM tomorrow, so there is a chance he has been released for that.

This pre season is all looking a bit promising. Comfortable wins against Jets A & B.

WSW verus Newcastle games this season are going to be grudge affairs.

Maybe, just maybe we might be onto something big this season besides the spoon.

Happy to see that so far.

Looking at that Newcastle line up, even in pre-season we should be demolishing that lot. That is a weeeak Jets side...

The benefits of having a relatively settled squad and a few astute signings are going to stand us in good stead. Very confident heading into that round one clash with the Roar.

Up the Nix!

Having a squad sorted early and being able to score against A-league opposition does warm the heart.
Bodes well for strong start to the season

With the COVID outbreak in Sydney sure to explode soon, it doesn't bode well for us or the upcoming season..

Would they/could they move the comp to another hub in a different state? You'd have to think there is some very rapid assessment of the options available going on behind the scenes.

At the moment there is no A League hub, with only the Nix and maybe Perth not scheduled to have home games, when the season kicks off.

With this outbreak as yet contained to Sydney's northern beaches (could easily change of course), other States have now slapped 2 week MI requirements on anyone flying in from certain northern Sydney postcodes.

That could affect some CCM and SFC players especially, who may live north of the Harbour Bridge. But yeah if this outbreak spreads across Sydney becomes a much bigger problem.

Had a quick look at the draw, and looks like in first few weeks, only Nix of the NSW based teams are scheduled to travel interstate (Roar in Brissy game 1).  But if greater Sydney itself goes into a 2-4 week lockdown lots of issues.

He must be injured ?, not to feature in any pre-season games. There have been some pics of him running at Nix training, so he must be on the mend.

With this new covid outbreak, looking unlikely the Nix will be able travel to Queensland next week. If that's the case, wonder if FA will consider rearangeing the schedule so NSW teams can play each other and stay in the state.

Yesterday was 10 days to go

And today is a very hopeful 9 days but tbh, the Sydney situation makes worry that it might be delayed.

This is not going to end/start well...

If the AFL and League season could play on when states borders were closed, surely the a-league can come to some adhoc arrangement.

The AFL especially pretty much organised their whole season on the 'fly', yet still managed to play most games in front of crowds. Even if they had to relocate all their 10 Victorian teams.

All the European football leagues are having to postpone games, as Covid cases pop up amongst various teams. FFA/NLWG will just have to deal with the draw and make changes week to week in need, until this Sydney outbreak is contained.

In week 1, Nix are due to play in Brisbane, and Melb City are in Sydney (against SFC). Makes some sense now for Melb City to play the Roar instead of the Nix, if they can change flights etc.

For week 1, WSW verus McArthur and CCM verus Jets may also be postponed. Though with the latter game makes sense to move it from Gosford to Newcastle if they can.

Statement from Greg O'Rouke

Guess they could swap a few games around so NSW based sides play against each other & non NSW sides play each other to get around any border closures.

Absolutely no chance of completing this season in its entirety. ???
