Have you seen that footage of Sery de Campos? That guy looks decent, maybe we could sign him

Yeah I don't have a problem with that - just curious because news on the transfer front have been hard to come by these days......

no kidding - I don't remember things ever being his Stasi hush hush - usually there are some scraps to throw the dogs to get a bit of excitement up for the coming season……this year NOTHING…..which only makes me think they are halfway through pulling off the coup of the century or there really is nothing. If only we had a couple of ace NZ/AUS citizen strikers kicking arse in Greece who would prefer the NZD to the New Drachma.

Weren't we rumoured to be interested in a Greek/Aussie striker playing in Greece last year? I forget his name. Also, I'd be happy with Tzimopolous as a Boxall replacement

Apostolos Giannou, he was called up for the Greek Euro squad in March but didn't take the field.

His name would be easy to come up with chants for too....

No more Boo-urns

Wellington Phoenix have accepted an offer from FC Tokyo for Nathan Burns, who has flown to Japan to complete the deal.

Worst part is Burns was a local. Now we still have only one import and are down our top goal scorer.

Said to see him go. But it was inevitable. Good luck to you boo urns. Now who are we bringing in? The share lack of speculation is killing me this off season. Especially now that I'm not distracted by world cups.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Bugger. I don't think he's replaceable directly - it's very unlikely we can find a local who is as good as him. We're going to need to replace him with the import and hope a local can fill Kenny's bench/impact role.

This season just got harder

Knew this would happen. Very sad to see him go - I just hope we got some serious cash for him. Very eager to hear of a good replacement being brought into the squad soon.

I dont think we will get much, didnt they say after year 1 he could leave for about $200k under the terms of his deal.

Yeah that's what I remember too. Pretty weak contract to be fair.

Well he hadn't exactly set the world alight in his years between Adelaide and us.

No one would've thought he would sign and become our top goal scorer and Johnny Warren medalist.

Contract terms would have been relatively modest.

Jets declined to sign him with the state of his knee, wonder if Tokyo are as confident in their medical staff as we were.

Think that speaks to the Jets incompetence rather than anything else.

Wasn't that just a rumour? I even thought that Dome denied it in an interview.

Im not sure I just remember them saying if they didnt take the offer he got in january he could walk for a fraction of that amount at the end of the season, but hopefully it was wrong.

Maybe we can replace our not a striker with a real proper striker. Rory Fallon is available I understand. He could do a job for us.

Also that Clapham kid has got to be worth  a shot. We need more gingers.

The fact preseason has started and there has been NO solid rumours, leaks or speculation worries me quite a bit, I can see 2 youth's getting contracts but that still leaves how many places? Like 5 spots open and preseason has started???

Would you rather they conducted all recruitment negotiations in public?

So sad to see him go. Buy out  as mentioned sounds about right. If it's a 2 year contract as reported I would not expect Nix to get much more.

When there were rumors of a chinese club offering 7 figures for Burns there was also a rumor that Nathan had told his team mates that he had a buy out clause which was quite a lot less than the money on offer. It turned out that the money the chinese club was throwing around was bullshark, the buyout clause could very well have been the same.

Fallon would spend more time suspended for flying elbows than playing. Too slow now.

Its along pre season..sign late less chance to get injured. Talent always gels quickly.

No but even one reasonable signing up to now would give me some confidence the fact is there has not been any yet when other Club have been very active. I'm still hoping for the best as I have faith in the ernie magic but I hate long off seasons for this reason!!

Carlos was actually signed very early, before the previous season had ended

Burns was an underwealming signing and Bonevacia and McGlinchey were very late in the offseason. Although Mcglinchey was rumoured for months before the unoffical and then official anouncements.
