Favourable draw for us first up, and while no result is ever guaranteed before a ball is kicked, it does give us more than a good shot at moving on to the last 16 - and more competitive fixtures in the lead up to the season proper.

Any details on dates and what not as yet?

This might spell it out easier. Basically some sort of Australia Cup match every week from the week of Mon Jul 18 (three weeks away) except during the September international window.

FWIW Phoenix pre-season is set to start next Friday (or so I was told). Gather the AWs might be back slightly later.

OFC U-19 (U-20) Cup set to take place at some stage in September.

Round of 32 draw: Wed Jun 29 9.30pm NZT

Round of 32 matches to be played
– Thu Jul 21, Sat Jul 23, Sun Jul 24
– Wed Jul 27, Sun Jul 31
– Fri Aug 4

Round of 16 matches to be played
– Wed Aug 10, Sat Aug 13, Sun Aug 14
– Wed Aug 17

Quarterfinals to be played (exact dates TBC)
– Sat Aug 27, Sun Aug 28
– Mon Aug 29, Tue Aug 30

Semifinals to be played (exact dates TBC)
– Sat Sep 10, Sun Sep 11
– Tue Sep 13, Wed Sep 14

Men's international window: Mon Sep 19 – Tue Sep 27

Final to be played
– Sat Oct 1

(A-League Men likely to start on Fri Oct 7)

3 games are two A-League sides so could be potentially down to 7 A-League teams at most in the round of 16 so very good draw for us!

How do you guys think we will line up for our Australia Cup opener? I hope this is how it looks:

Sail or Paulsen
Sutton Wootton Surman Payne or Elliot
Lewis Ugarkovic or Pennington
Old Barbarouses
Ball Waine

That is a pretty impressive looking team.

Incidentally, do we know how Ball's injury is going? Playing on it for a few weeks at the tail end of last season wouldn't have helped. Hope he's fully over as we're going to need him to be fully fit this season.

Waine is more than capable of playing as a lone striker. I think Ball should still get game time in the Australia Cup but be used carefully to have a better chance of being back to 100% when the A-League returns. Barbarouses can play up front with Waine if Talay wants two up top, though I would prefer him to be paired with Old.

I mean that makes sense, but I for one hope that he gets a bit of game time this season after his exploits at the back end of 21/22. Did not look out of place whatsoever, and had some excellent games towards the back end too. Was phenomenal against WSW at Eden Park.

Surman learning off someone as experienced as Wootton can only be good for us/NZF in the long run though. All said and done he may have to ply his trade from the bench a wee bit more this season. Excellent injury/suspension cover though, and would be starting if we go the 3 CB's like we did on a couple of occasions.

I know Barbarouses is getting on a bit but is there any need to call him Old Barbarouses?

2 & 1/2 weeks until the Australia Cup fixture, we must be due to have a few midweek kickabouts soon.

And hopefully another signing or an update on JHS.

Draw out at 2pm today apparently, 1pm for members.

I'll be spitting if we aren't at home first up given what we've been through the last 2 and a bit seasons.

I think all of us will be a little miffed if we dont get a good slid run of home games early on. But it wouldnt surprise me if we got shafted.
Very excited for this season though.

Surely Nix and Perth need to be prioritised for a first up home game

Adelaide at home first up! Fantastic, can't wait. Lots of Sunday games & a home match to be played in Wollongong, as well as 2 in other parts of NZ with venues TBC (but I'm sure at least one of those will be Auckland).

Let's get our revenge against Adelaide and the Mariners at home for those 4-0 and 5-0 defeats last season.

6 home games in the first 8 game weeks is very nice hopefully we’ll turn the bad start to a season around with that. 15-18 4 away games in a row will be a interesting run to see if being based in Australia last couple years has changed our away form

This looks to be about as good as we could ever hope for. It always shocks me when the league actually does something right.

Problem with that though is it probably means at some stage there wont be a home game for ages. Without igniting the home/away debate excepted to see two home away games disappointing to   see a 3rd one added

Nothing unexpected with 2 TBC games:
Week 13 vs CCM and
Week 19 vs Newcastle

one if not both will be in Auckland - I wouldn't expect a 3rd to be taken away from Sky Stadium
