Tiny glimmer of hope. MAC lose 3-1 in Perth.

If the Nix beat WSW next weekend, and Melb City lose in Brisbane (big if), at least the last round will still matter.
How MAC go next weekend in Adelaide doesn't even matter now, as they face off with the Nix in the final round.

MC (35 pts, 0 GD) - Roar (A) and Adelaide (H)
MAC (31 pts, -9 GD) - Adelaide (A) and Nix (H)
Nix (30 pts, -9 GD) - WSW (Christchurch/H) and MAC (A)

Basically Nix win their last 2 games, and Melb City lose both theirs, the Nix will be in the finals. Longest of long shots.

Vamos the Roar and the Reds.

No finals footy for our men.  Lowest we can finish is 10th, highest 7th.  What a bummer.  Likely we'll never see Sarpreet put the shirt on again. No Rufer for the game against Macarthur so was that the last time we see him in Nix colours?

There is a lot of Twitter chat that rufer to the jets is a done deal ☹️

Sad questions 😩

I’ve enjoyed this team with all its quirks and thrills. Piper and Armiento are unlike footballers we’ve had before. Tuiloma has begun to show his class. Payne a battling elder statesman has produced some of our best football and something similar can be said for Kazu.

Spider legs Heald got through in a number of tackles, Sheridan worked and worked, Hughes was a beating heart, even Rami managed some statistics.

Khartum, James and Mileusnic showed pride in the shirt and gave us great moments, though not all triumphant. Same for Oluwayemi. Brilliant today!

I wanted to see more goals from Eze. Every now and then he produces something magical or sublime. And after the Heidelberg game he cooled down and put up with the cheap shots and blood in the mouth.

One more game eh.

Can't blame him imo. He also gets an ACL adventure too.

Amazing table. From this table we have 12 points from our last five games. AFC has 6. We are second highest point scorers. Unfortunately City have 13 points.

Brisbane 2 Melbourne City 3
Sydney 0 Perth 0

Lowest we can finish is 9th.  What could have been if James had scored that penalty in our 500th game.  We'd still be in with a shot.

How about this: AFC's entire season was made to look decent only because of the Derby wins. Take away the derby and they have a worse record than we do (32 points for them, 33 for us). If we didn't shit the bed in every derby game then we wouldn't only be in the top 6, AFC would be looking like an average mid table team.... ahh well. Next year.

we were pretty average for the first 3/4 of the season, and only had 3 wins against teams in the current top 6, our other 6 wins game against Roar (3 times), Perth, Mariners & wanderers..

Even if we had won 1 of the 3 derbies, we would still be 7th

True but at least we would have been above them on the table.

Yeah congrats, Box Office Jets.

They have often been a joy to watch this season. A team made up predominantly of young Aussies, plus Bayliss and sometimes Gibson.

As with the back to back Mariners a couple of seasons ago, it shows you don't have to be one of the bigger clubs to succeed.
