Hope thought is going into a Tifo for the game.
We need to be up to point as there will be nothing worse than Port showing us up game day.

The away fan area at AAMI Park yesterday was people sitting down holding balloons. At Mt Smart they need to have microphones lining their walkway down to the stand as well as by The Port area to have their chanting heard.

I’m not too worried about their “fans”, especially if they’ve had a loss or two before then. I say this as someone living in Auckland who has to put up with AFC fans in the workplace, they all shut up very quickly after the semi loss (after a couple of days of bitching about the ball clearly not being out)

Looks like the away bay is sold out but still Fever tickets remaining. Hopefully that doesn't last long!

Yep would imagine they have plenty of stuff planned.

Funny to open another when 34C is already part of the away bay too but that one hasn't sold out

On the website its included as part of the active away bay. The red is away general.

Sold out their active bay so opened another. Very accomodating to the away fans! Right next to the pitch too.

Meanwhile we’ve barely sold any tickets - anyone got pax?

My pax 3 days ago was 6900

If only AFC were as accommodating towards any away fans at their games. Instead of putting them all over the place.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I got pretty lucky with my exam schedule and get to fly home the day before so I get to go to the game! Still think it's a bit early to be overly optimistic but seeing us score 4 goals in 2 games is a good start. If we can pull of a win here you'll never hear me complain about Chief again haha

Pax 8200 but we know that means nothing now, looking at the map nothing has been sold.
Clearly Ticketek has messed up the pax figure somehow,
I think our EST crowd figure should be (based on the last game)
PAX - 4000

PAX always included stadium passes, season passes, corporate boxes, etc. It's just the total amount of tickets sold, not the amount of people who will show up.

There’s a reasonable amount on in town that day, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a dent to numbers. I’ve had the darts booked for nearly a year and at least two guys are ones I go to the football with.

Would be good to see it pumped up to a sports/casual crowd, especially after the reasonable start so far.

Welly v Auckland. Rematch! More than just football. Rob v Texas and Helipads. Swiss v Belgian. Mate against mate. We want vengeance!

Pre sales are terrible apart from the away bay which is sold out and they have opened another one up.
So people tell your friends and family we need to get as many there as possible cant see us getting to the crowd we had last year but surely we can to 15k+.
So mobilize people get as many as you can to come.
Anyone wants them your welcome to my membership discount allocation.

trying to determine what the crowd size will be almost two weeks before the game is daft, we all know that the non-members arent buying their tickets this early. Even those that are thinking about attending are looking at the weather forecast on Sunday, and possibly even results from this weekends game.
Each section holds 1000 people right? so I assume that means each bay, covered (C) on uncovered (U) holds 500. So AFC have more than 500 people, including their not so secret fans and commenters here, so what? The remainder of the crowd will be Wellington focussed and when we beat them 1-0 the noise will be amazing!

Do we know if the stadium has passouts for double headers?

Am visiting Wellington but would love to not spend the entire day at the stadium if possible haha

Not a case of trying to determine crowd size. Fact is pre sales are well down on last year and what was expected. Think its only fair for the club to be concerned.

Maybe I’m being slow, but what is the Swiss referring to - Rufer?

I don't think we're gonna get the turnout people are hoping for tbh, considering how things went last season I can't imagine the casuals are super eager to turn up

My guess is that the attendance on the day will also be influenced by the results for both teams this weekend.
@CCM - we're counting on you not to stuff up our derby metrics. Be warned.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

There's probably a few thousand Swiss/Belgians in New Zealand max. Most of whom are probably travelling or on working tourist visas with other interesting things to do, hardly a big market to try and target.

We could of course ask WelNix to seek derby sponsorship from global confectionery giants. Something along the lines of:
"Derby Day!
Brought to you by Giulyan and Milka, the original Belgian vs Swiss face-off
"
Just saying.

Wellingtonians don’t show up to watch their teams lose. It’s always been this way with casual fans here, the Nix, Hurricanes and Lions all see smaller crowds when results are bad.

I expect we’ll see a much smaller attendance for the derby than last season, and it won’t return to 20k+ unless we win this game.

Great item on tv1 news just now, building up to the derby. Interviewed young kiwi strikers from both teams, shining at the moment - Randall and Piper. Both coaches, and highlights of the strikers' recent work.

I wouldnt be too concerned about predicting the turnout this far out. Everyone knows it wont sell out so the casuals can wait to see what the weather forecast will be.
You would hope that the publicity will ramp up big time soon. Some harmless trash talking with a bit of humour makes a difference.
The club has been quite quiet up to now. Hopefully they have some plans to pull in a decent crowd.
This derby thing only works if there is actually a proper competition. Another AFC win will really undermine future big numbers turning up. Watching boring AFC choke us in a dull 1-0 will kill off interest.

For a bit of a colour and fun, we should field the Wrexham-slaying WelNix kids in the second half of the derby.  A loss would be easily justified. A win would be a priceless PR gold till the next derby. This would work only once though.

Am sure Dome will bring a few cheesy boxing promoter lines up closer to the game to ramp up interest and attendance

That would be a good intro to Chiefy & Corica running it straight. And for afters, Yellow Fever v the Port en masse. NZ might never be the same again.
