Most exciting game of the season so far but I'm really bummed we lost this one. Credit to Adelaide: that second goal was high class and they defended very tightly. Goodbye top four....

Fantastic atmosphere! Hope to see 15k at every game for the rest of the season but thats a very long shot. The Stadium is a great place to be when there is close to 20k there! Well done Wellington! Thanks Terry!

Shame about the result - Phoenix had them under so much pressure but yet again we dropped our guard on defence and put ourselves under pressure, twice! It's a real shame that the first goal was disallowed...It looked fine from where I was sitting, right infront of the goal.

Again, well done Phoenix, we'll be a force next year and I really want to see this club succeed for the name of football in this country AND for Terry and us Wellingtonians.

Let's lap it all up tomorrow and celebrate what has been a magnificant season so far and send Beckham home with some impressive footy (he he he).

COME ON PHOENIX!!!

To have good finishing or for that matter any finishing, one must take the chance by shooting. This lack of shooting on sight or from anywhere within 25 yards of goal is of great concern to me.

The chances are being created yet everyone spends far too long trying to tee up the perfect chance. Usually it's a mish*t shot that will score.

Covney came on and caused them all sorts of problems. I don't think they knew how to handle him. We were unlucky with three close shots, we deserved 3 penalties, we got one of them but the other two consisted of events on each side of the penalty box. Why wasn't our goal allowed?? Did our sub warming up actually get booked? FFS.

Oh and thanks too to the three pissed guys in Aisle 24 Row U seats 177,178,179. There were plenty of kids around us and you guys couldn't go 90 minutes without saying one sentence that didn't have an F word or a W word in it.

To the four Mega hot women in Aisle 24 Row T seats 174,75,176,177. thanks for the perve. You Ladies were HOT and my nephew and I had a great time. almost as good as Sanchez!

I was hoping we'd get her number. My yellow and black inflated hands that I had with me will never get washed. they got touched by her!

That was a hoot when the lads up the back started giving Sanchez heaps. I was waiting for them to start chanting "Have you got a Rubber!"

yea, ive been saying from early on in the season that having a crack has been one of not just the nixs problems but a league wide thing, its starting to come better now for everyone apart from us. maybe its because we have such a great team enviroment going they all want the next guy 2 score. be more ruthless. but yea from looking up and down at work covs looked good when he came on. smeltzy didnt seem to do much today but that was from a limited view from me. and tony lochead is wasted in a 3-5-2. he was one of our best if not the leagues best for the first 6 weeks and now we hardly see him. bit dissapointing. shame about the gutting result but looked like a great crowd and atmsosphere. wat was in the boxes they were giving to the galaxy players?

Pounamu (jade) necklace.

I agree with earlier posts ..its pretty to watch but it goes sideways tooo often with little variation and through balls or shots..must ve easy to play against.  Second half variations with Covs was a breath of fresh air and changed cattics wirked  Shame we just cant score enough..  Elrich isnt doing enough apart from once when he ran a defenders..good balls in tho.  08 we need strikers....

So frustrating.........great crowd atomsphere.

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Smeltz had a pretty good game i thought, soime great touches, ball control, held it up under pressure etc. no opportunities on goal - not sure if that was really his fault.

lochhead does get forward far less often under teh 3-5-2, but i think on balance we are playing better under that structure. although we have lacked something in the final third we have been bullying possession and restricting chances on goal, so hopefully it will all come together and we'll get the roll of the ball in the next few weeks

Hopefully we can pull off a miracle late in the season to save our playoff hopes. It's slim, but not impossible. If Farina's word's are anything to go by, then we are still 15 points short with 18 points to play for. It'll take an absolute miracle, but weirder things have happened.

What is it with Elrich? Why won't he try and take on defenders?

Is he "gun shy"? Does he not have the skills to do it? He should if he's had a sniff of top league football in the UK. And if he's got some sort of mental block, why isn't one of the coaches working him a stand-still instilling new reflex mental patterns? Swerve, side-step, go around, don't keep  lobbing it in from the sideline for others to try and score. One outstanding goal - but only one -  is not good enough from our marque player.

And, please, I'm tired of commentators saying that maybe Elrich is not yet match fit. How long will it take until he is? The end of next season? Not ruling him out, but must do better.
That said, I'd like him to come right. For everyone's sake.

So how's this for an attacking midfield for '08? Filepe, Daniel, Bertos, Elrich - with confidence restored - with Smeltz and a really hot out-and-out striker up front. (Someone like a hungry Archie Thompson at his best.) Now that would make us fearsome!

As long as we also find a couple of really tough defenders who can shut down good attacks, and stay awake for 90 minutes.

Beds are for sleeping guys, not the footie pitch.

shame about the result, but well compensated for by the passion with which the Nix played - whenever Daniel / Felipe dwelt on the ball there were 3 Adelaide players in attendance; Rees got out-paced on one occasion - he made sure that never happened again.
Good football - pity about the result, and agree with the comment above about the outstanding game the Adelaide goalie had - always seemed to be in the right place to catch / punch the ball (dammit !!)

To se why the goal wasn't allowed. I assumed it was because the guys at the the front of the goal may have been leaning on the defenders when they jumped. the goal itself looked good.

we will probably do better, as they won't sit so deep which will give us spaces to run into and exploit

as it was with the keeper and 8 defenders in and around the box, we were reduced to floated crosses - without first having turned the defence

and trying to make runs through 3-4 players on the edge of the box

a break is always possible under those circs

i think that goal was disallowed cos Ferrante was havinga bit of a tussle with someone. Complete crap.

Elrich is usually a decent crosser - but they were not working last night. He wasnt putting in the hard yards either.
Good work rate from the Brazilians.

Where was Smeltz infront of goal? He should be scoring in these kind of matches

I watched it on the box last night and I'm none the wiser. Even the commentators were struggling for a decent reason.Auckland Jag2007-12-01 11:49:45

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Just got confirmation from the stadium staff - Cameras are allowed to be taken in the stadium, but no video cameras (unless it's a digital camera that also takes videos haha)

bit of a late add in

elrich was by FAR the sh*ttest player on the pitch vs Adelaide, what a lazy, lazy performance, anyone that trys to blame rees for that second goal is a moron, I saw Pantelis heading in from out there well before the goal was scored and I mentioned to my mates that elrich was blatantly walking back after a man he could of defended if he had been bloody running!!! lets not even mention his absolutely rubbish crossing, I didn't see one that hit the target.

i'm probably just being harsh because i'm 1/4 lebo though

most memorable bit from both matches? After Beckham got presented his pounamu at half-time in the Adeladie game; as he was walking back towards the players' tunnel a huge roar of  'who are ya?' goes up from the YF zone above the tunnel, accompanied by finger pointing.

Beckham looked up and started grinning from ear to ear ..

Gotta love it. And to think some people were worried he'd take it offensively
