Same thread, different team, different website the world over.Everytime a team loses the fans get all upset and call for the managers head it's natural, no one likes to lose.
It's Tuesday so by now most of us should be well over it,most other football fans around the world, whose team also lost on the weekend, surely have.

Go back to point made by El Grapadura the player who looks like he can put his foot on the ball and has a range of passes is McKain (and sure he hit a couple of wayward passes today). With Dodd able to slot in central defence the loss of Mckain there is well covered. Think McKain would add a bit more bite into that central midfield role as well.

he would be out of the box then and unable to give away penalties..
i dont know if he is the answer however. moving him in could be calamitous.i feel he is a little to relaxed on the ball sometimes and could become easy prey.

He is very relaxed on the ball, but he has a good touch and a bit of composure. Sure he'd lose the ball a few times and give some away, but that's football. Still think that out of all the options we have, he'd fill that central midfield position the best.

Ricki here is a life line grab it

           Moss

Siggy   Dodd Durante Lochead

Bertos Mckain Brown Daniel

        Costa Smeltz

And in anticipation of the standard response to Costa well I have not seen anything on offer from Kwasnik, Hearfield or Gao and Coveny and Smeltz are not a great partnership.

no no no
. gao has to play, dont care where but i believe he must.leo hasnt proved anything to earn a start over gao.
and costa on at 65- 70 minute mark, probaly as a replacement for daniel whom gets tired, or bertos if he is in disneyland.
costa is definately a impact bench players. i havnt seen him play a full game in two years!! for olympic. who knows wat hell do.
and for a 19 year old, hearfeild has been fine!!

I don't think Bertos has played enough for anyone to have seen him play to give him a start or not start him.

Dont always blame the coach. Something has gone wrong but hopefully if we get a bit more confidence back (win over Sydney) then maybe we can turn it around.

Has anyone considered bringing George back in a leadership-type role?

how is that a rugby attitude? the only time you hear the public call for a coaches head is if they lose a world cup. football, much more than rugby sacks coaches when things are going wrong. i can't ever recall a rugby coach getting the sack during a campaign or season yet it happens all the time in football. it's a classic football attitude more than anything.

i see it as a rugby thing purely coz thats how it seems to be there, we lose 1 game and the coach is gone, it doesnt matter whats happened, who dropped the ball, missed a tackle etc its all dumped squarely on the coach. this is what im seeing here. as my prev post stated, we have players whith plenty of experience, its up to them to step up to the plate.

we've barely begun the season and i know theres alot of sad/angry/borderline emo people out there but please calm down. in the phoenix management and coaching structure we trust

RH will stay until end of season. If my team Crewe sacked the manager after 5 crap games of football, we would go thru at least 7 guys a season. When supporting a football team you go thru the bad, the crap, the so-so and the good. When Crewe went from Div4 to Div 3 back to Div 4 upto div 3 to div 2 to championship back to div 1 etc etc, you go with the flow. We did not sack the manager in fact he stayed for 23 years and built the club up from crap to having the best youth set up in the country.

Supporting footbal teams is like being married but it last longer and it always has a headache.

well id love a few examples of when rugby coaches have been sacked mid season/campaign? it doesnt happen very often, if at all. whereas look at football, west ham and newcastle both have lost their managers they started the season with.

I'm happy with Terry's decision.  Sacking Ricki after 5 games would be daft.  He clearly has potential (look what he did at the Knights in 5 games).  The players are mainly to fault and they can fix it.

Surely Ricki has a role to play in motivating the players? My worry is that he hasn't been able to so far.

Just saw an interview with Terry on Prime news, he seemed completely genuine about Ricki being safe. I doubt it's anything like the infamous 'vote of confidence'.

Can't see the point in sacking the coach just now, he has to take some responsibility for the lack of tactical changes etc but the lads on the field need to man up and play to the plan which at the moment they clearly are not doing.

Has anyone actually heard any explanation from RH about his reasoning for some of those substitutions etc?  You'd think questions would be asked of him by Tony P or Terry wouldn't you? I'd love to hear what his justification is for them.

In strong businesses they generally wouldn't allow a manager 2 years of failure, so RH probably needs to finish the season on a high or look for another job.

everyone is being way to hard on ricki i mean ffs come on. he names siggy on the bench, is anyone contesting this,? i cbf reading 14 pages but i dont think so, use ur head,s his only sub left was siggy, where to put him, only play is CB or Rb, better to take of the RB, what is he gonna do, paston up front? get off his case already and start writing messages and threads saying CMON NIX PLAYERS or something, try geeing up the team so they dont have to read in the news how their fans are sacking the coach they work under

at the end of last season the word "failure" was only used by a very small majority of commentators or fans, the genral view was that overall (in terms of establishing the club from scratch etc) the season was at least satisfactory

i do agree that Ricki needs to improve on the current performances, but to 're-write' last season as a failure (on the basis of this years form) would be an injustice

I dont think the owner of any club should be forced to hold talks with playing staff. Thats the managers job, another indication I believe that their is a lack of respect/lack of motivation/lack of leadership

I was probably a bit harsh and a little vague in my comments. In terms of overall performance, last year may well have been looked upon as successful on several levels. On its own, the on-field results werent successful but could be mitigated by the fact there was limited time to recruit/prepare etc. If anything, those factors only give RH an excuse for not getting the best league results.

In a sports business the playing results dont necessarily need to be great to ensure business success. It depends on the business model, an example would be NFL teams that have very poor playing records but everything is structured (league profit sharing, corporate boxes etc) for them to turn a profit.

In the Nix case, we are seeing an obvious correlation between playing results and game attendance, gate receipts and the like.

I havent seen the Nix P & L but any competent business will look at its income and the factors that are adversely affecting that. They then should take action to turn things around. It will come down to whether they think the problem can be remedied by getting rid of the coach or not. Even then they might make a decision based on whether it is cheaper to replace players or get rid of the coach. I dont know enough about the salary/contracts at the club so cant make an accurate prediction there.

Sorry that this has developed into a rave, should have stopped after the first paragraph. Im getting carried away with the machinations of such an intriguing situation. J

Don't know about that. If I had invested loads of cash in a team, I'd want to get in there and give the players a verbal as well. I'm betting he's already had a similar conversation many times with Ricki and Tony, it's just another step.
Ricki has obviously been told to keep a low profile. He's not said a word. When the AB's lose Henry gets a serve from the media and fronts up - even if he is grumpy.
I agree 100% that if the players have talent and are not fronting then it's back to the coach's responsibilty.
If at your work place you have good talent and they don't perform you can be sure that the GM would get a rev over results. He/She would then have to get the best out of the team - or cut them loose.
I back Tony, Ricki and the players to get out of this. The Warriors did

Now that Terry has made his decision we need to reciprocate, keep faith and show our support as well. Even though I have doubts about Ricki there is no way this is going to work unless everybody gets behind him and the team now that the vote of confidence has been given. Lets stop whinging about it and show some positivity again.
