And when Manny was playing well. And Ifill. But to blame our form on the loss of Brown is ludicrous.

never said the loss of form was due to him leaving, however not replacing the gap he left is part of it,the slumps of Ifill and Manny is part of it too as is the "change in style"

yeah but saying the team was playing "damn site better" kinda insinuates it, as does Dolores with her you're-all-morons-for-not-thinking-much-of-Brown posts. I guess I don't think recruiting a player of Brown's abilities would help us much, unless Brown had some kind of motivational influence on the team. Therefore, I don't miss him.

PS. Brown isn't a metonymy for faeces. Unless maybe figuratively....JOKING

I miss Brown. If nothing else, even the nay sayers can not deny he had a big engine and got around the pitch. A few people have identified that a few of our players are the opposite and never move off the ball.

Nothing will change.

RH in charge next year but just with 2-3 new players.

Ambramovich has fired Managers for less, so too did Briatore & Paladini.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

and that will be the biggest mistake the owners ever make. Will be too late then, as no-one is going to watch them this season now. Record low crowd coming up.

I think some of the hardcore could turn there backs on this one and doubt any newbies will turn up. I will be there but there has been bugger all to get excited in the last lot of home games about and the clubs attiude of saying this is how it is going to be ie: no money on players, RH best for the job.

So in short looking for a crowd of around 3500(if wet take off  500 or so) if we are lucky.

I fully agree.  For me personally I'm hoping the only way is up for us and that we CAN turn this around.  The team do need us now more than ever

if Gareth uses this home game as an excuse that wellington don't care about the nix he needs to relook at what has happened. A 3000 crowd could see thye reinvigaration of the we'll take it around NZ for better crowds discussion. I'll be there but I'll demanding a far better performnance from all - Ricki, the team and the owners.

I cannot wait to see how many turn up at Eden Park. They'll then realise that fans 'on the road' don't want to watch crap either.

I did say I wasn't going next week in the heat of the moment. I lied. However if I didn't live in the city it'd probably be a harder decision I have to say.

I think everyone has made up their mind on this so don't consider it worth rehashing the argument. You are either "Ricki is god" or ""
You get the feeling that many of the people who want Ricki to stay no matter what think the sky will fall if he goes and that he should stay because that there are no other options.

But consider this. The following clubs have changes coaches since the start of last season. Victory(twice), Roar(twice), Sydney (twice) Heart, Adelaide, Jets?????. OK the changes have not all been 100% great but all of these clubs are now sitting higher than us in the table and in some cases the change of coach has been spectacularly successful. There are coaches out there.....surely anything is better than dead last and 1-7 thrashings

You do realise, don't you, that if Ricki was sacked right now then Greenie would take over for the rest of the season. Is that an improvement?

And... what do you think a poor crowd at Eden would make Welnix do? Seriously. This is a question. What do you actually think Welnix will do if the bottom falls out of the crowds? Do you really think they'll and half the team and bring in a bunch of marquees? Or do you think they'd just shrug and give up the licence?

I doubt they'd do the latter at this stage. As I say, they might realise this 'strategy' they have for pulling more income from taking the team on the road will not work if said team is crap. And yes, I hope they'd make some improvements.

As for your previous post, how can you possibly know that would happen? For me, assistants play a big role too so I'd be tempted not to keep Greenacre on either (at least not as assistant manager).

It is if the players respect Greenie better and will play harder under him. They obviously don't respect Ricki if they aren't really trying. It's not really even about lack of skill now.

Oh great plan. Sack both the coach and the assistant, with no viable option for a replacement. That will really go down well with the dressing room (especially since they have all said that they respect Greenie).

What is being said is that there is not one coach in the entire world who could come in and improve the team.  Can someone seriously tell me this is true? Just because I, and others, can't pluck a name out of thin air does not mean these people do not exist.

I'm not sure that Greenie would necessarily take over til the end of the year. I could see someone like Emblen being hired as a caretaker manager, for instance

When was the last time you heard a team criticise the management in public? Just because they say that doesn't mean it's true.

Again I ask how you know there is no viable replacement option? Have we advertised the job already and I missed it? What are you honestly basing this on? The fact that you, a fan, cannot think of anyone?

The Victory had a 'worldwide search' for a new manager when they sacked Merrick, and ended up hiring their youth team coach. Look how that went for them, and I bet they were willing to pay a new manager a lot more money than Welnix will. There are not a lot of candidates around the world that do not already have a job and would be willing to move halfway around the globe for a job that pays very little in relation to gigs overseas.

Greenie was part of a tight-knit playing group that made the playoffs three seasons ago. I would be very, very surprised if the rest of the players don't respect him.
