Now that I hear other clubs are interested I am worried about a Ricki-less future at the Phoenix!

My how the tide has turned!

I bet Ricki is glad he read this thread in it's infancy and changed his tactics...

So, before the start of the season, and the first of the pre season games...

Quick, Sack Ricki! There's still time before he wastes our season!

(haha, I remember all the consternation about the pre season last year, season hadn't even started, how many said he was useless. Mmmm that humble pie tastes good dunit!)

Nice apology Steve-o

Nope its going to take more than a few tinny results in the A.League and a lucky run to and in the World Cup to convince me ,Sack Ricki

The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

I personally think that the squad this season is pretty decent, but with this guy in charge, I don't think we've any chance of improving on our 6th place finish of last season, and will likely do worse and not make the playoffs.

This bit make me lol the most.

Quite right Steve-O

Belatedly and luckily he picks up Dadi to finally have a 442 targetman option
but hardly plays Dadi and Greenache together

Now it looks like Ricki's finally seen the light

"Macallister has looked sharp in warm-up matches for the Phoenix alongside the British strikeforce of Paul Ifill and Chris Greenacre and will be one player Herbert will be watching closely at Waikato Stadium against the Roar.

Dylans looked very good and is certainly the type of player the clubs been looking for in terms of a target man up front. Ill be monitoring things closely to see how Dylan, Chris and Paul can combine in that front third.

I think you deserve all the credit Steve-O

NZ Football wrote:
NZF hopeful of hooking Herbert

AUCKLAND New Zealand Football have confirmed they are still in discussions with Ricki Herbert and Wellington Phoenix for Herbert to continue as the All Whites head coach.

NZF chairman Frank van Hattum said he and Herbert have agreed in principle for Herbert to continue in his New Zealand role, which for the last three years he has balanced with his Wellington Phoenix duties, but now need to work through any new arrangement with the A-League club.

Weve shaken hands on it but that gentlemens agreement is only part of the picture, van Hattum said.

Its the same scenario no matter where Ricki committed himself at club level. The next thing following that decision is to secure access with that club, and New Zealand Football are continuing that dialogue with Wellington Phoenix.

Herbert took over as national team coach in 2005, qualifying for both the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The All Whites drew with Slovakia, Italy and Paraguay in South Africa last month finishing the tournament as the only unbeaten nation.

I think, given the NZF article, the talks now are NZF/Terry, rather than NZF/Ricki.

NZF have reported that Ricki and Frank van Hattum have agreed in principle but talks are on-going - http://www.nzfootball.co.nz/index.php?id=11&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=626&tx_ttnews[backPid]=10&cHash=c89d8b7285

Looking good for him to still have two jobs... from both of which he should be sacked

This is great news for all Nix/AW's fans and NZ Football.  We really need the enthusiasm, understanding and momentum he brings to football in NZ.

I think he'll try win the A-League within 3 years.  Once both contract periods are up he'll become AW's manager full time so he can focus 100% on taking us to consecutive World Cups.

Nix to win league by end of 2012/13 season and sacked from both roles!  Then Ricki re-signs with NZF to be full time AW manager come winter 2013 towards the meaty end of WCQ's, 2014 HERE WE COME BABY!!!

Note this.
