Yeah That Allan Jones/Chris Milicich is quite funny because considering 'total football' is the plan, you could not find two bigger proponents of 'direct football' (read: long ball) if you tried. Very nice men but in terms of coaching philosophy, not the path the Phoenix are on.

Sam - stick to what you know. Football is not it.

Edit: and I suspect journalism is probably not one either...

Also, the number of posts per page has been reduced since Siggy came into effect compare to Fever v1.0, which bumped up the page count.

I've written another letter to the editor, questioning the journalism standards that Sam is showing. Didn't go quite as far as Gareth did.

Meh.

He's reminding people we have a forum.  Let's be honest, this train wreck has far bigger causes for concern than the Dom mis-representing one thread on here.

Point taken.

The biggest concern is that people (the owners, the board etc) see the list of coaching solutions from the Auckland old boys brigade as a viable list of alterntives.

I read that as just Hay and Harris speculating?

Last night I had a nightmare - Ricki's successor has just been named, folks : Kevin Fallon

"At the end of the drive the lawmen arrive...

I'll take my chance because luck is on my side or something...

Her name is Rio, she don't need to understand...

Oh Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land..."

Fallon would be completing the full Kingz circle.

- ill-informed board appoint Fallon and tell him to leave blood on the changing room walls and a train-wreck season see's the end of the club.

All it would need is WelNix to then say 'we're shutting it down if someone doesn't take it over' and Chris Turner to step in.  Kris Bright and Rory Turner front line?

That was my point Patrick.  My concern is that our decision makers don't know football well enough to understand the agenda's of the Auckland old-boys network.

Oh right, I misread your post as saying that the coaches they were suggesting are the old-bys network. As you were.

90 of the 97 pages in this thread consist of in-jokes, people flirting with each other, pictures of cats and, ironically, abuse of Sam Worthington.

So yeah, just a bit of a mis-representation in the DP this morning.

We haven't had a good flirt for ages.  Just a quick pash between Reg22 and Patrick.

A misrepresentation ? Meh, not worth even worrying about

And I think that the chairman is the source that would give such a clear statement about Ricki's future, not a media manager.

I have finally come round to the fact that we NEED a change. The team is in a malaise and Ricki hasn't been able to do anything to make better performances look likely. Although I don't know the exact dynamics I don't think he did himself any favors by appointing Greenacre, he needed someone fresh and from outside the group who wasn't afraid to speak up.

I don't think this should wait until a end of season review, it's going to be a very tricky position to fill and they need to start looking now. I don't see the point in retaining Ricki in a different position, unless the new coach wants him around for some reason. I just hope the board aren't stupid enough to listen to people like Billy Harris, completely absurd suggestions.

I think Billy was taking the Michael with some of his suggestions. I know he has no time for one or two of them.

So Ferguson gets axed at Perth. No surprise - thats what happens at normal football clubs.

Herbert can't even acknowledge that there may be some fault on his part for this shambles, and today he tells us "this is about the big picture". Spare me.

Like all these years we're told to be patient as we're a new club - etc etc - Oh well. Glad I put some money on WSW to make the GF many months ago as a laugh. What a helluva transition year.

I would ask 1 question of Steve-O and JD and its a sincere question:

In spite of all that is going on and all that you are not happy about, is there anything about the club that you like or are positive about?

Wouldn't let me quote so answering your question JV:

I'm finding it very hard to like anything about the team at the moment.  We're really poor to watch and by almost any measure we're a really crap football team.  I do feel very sorry for the players, even though they have to take some of the blame I think they've been put in a very difficult position and until recently have maintained good spirit - although that seems to have gone now.  Small positives like the introduction of young locals has been soured by the fact they've been over played, introduced without a proper plan for how to integrate them and both have been subject to criticism which I think is grossly unfair.  Our star international off season recruit is either nowhere near what we were promised, or being utilised terribly - both not good. And I think our so called youth academy, which isn't a youth academy at all, is really badly designed and targeted even though I acknowledge the difficulties with that particular issue.  But what am I positive about?

Basically, I'm positive about the fact that in football if you have the right people in charge things can change very quickly - look at West Sydney or Brisbane during the Farina to Ange changeover.  So I still think that if we make the right moves in the off season, and get rid of the right people on and off the pitch, then we have every chance of getting things back on track for next season.  But that won't happen without big changes and the board making the right moves.  So time will tell.

I'm in the 'meh' camp in the Herbert out debate but I struggle to see how anyone could pick massive holes in much of what JD has just said. Happy to be proven wrong obviously but I would suggest it would just be about a more positive way of saying the same thing.

RH should have a crack at the Aussie (well, James Hird) coaching model and get on the juice.

There's not much of a down side, and no cats will be harmed.
