I'm glad to have a bit more height into the squad. Other than that, time will tell I guess.

You're being a bit 'economic' with the bouquets there aren't you mate? You single out his height, but what about his other apparent attributes?

Ernie said: "He is 186cm tall, fast, technically good and knows how to tackle."

We were all bleating about the fact that:

We needed another CB = check.

Our central defenders were too slow = check.

Our central defenders were getting too old = check.

I don;t know anything about the guy, and I agree time will tell... but he seems to bring more than JUST height. "Fast" is notable too... something we really need.

I don't get this business of giving state league defenders or any positions from that league  for that matter two year deals. Haven't we learnt our lessons from some bitter experiences before? These type of players should have one year deals with at best an option for the club for the second year.

Particularly as we don't actually have a license for next year

But for the lack of decent cover on the bench and two soft goals without Dura we could have smashed Jets - who'd have been without their parked bus.

Very pleased to see we've signed this guy.  I like the extra height and hopefully the other attributes prove up.  The other thing will be his decision making and chemistry with Dura and Sig.  My experience says you can be a pretty mature CB at 20 if you've played enough football and had good coaching.and have the smarts/instincts/decision making as well.  Touch wood.

These couple of write ups suggest he's pretty composed in senior grand final level football.

and found this comment about him on a fourfourtwo forum

"

Our young CB Dylan Fox has been picked up by the Wellington Phoenix on a 2 year deal, couldn't think of a kid who deserves it more.

Hmmm. Underwhelming. Why not give a squad role like that to a Kiwi? I know we did just get Justin Gulley but we've had some half decent CBs come through NZ age group teams lately.

Fair point. I guess I've just been worried about our lack of height for a while. But yes, age and speed at the back definitely ticks boxes for us.

Who? Luke Adams? Adam Mitchell? I would like to see Sam Brotherton but he's in a college in USA

I thought Mitchell looked okay but he's not that tall and got dropped for Tuiloma who isn't really an option (like Brotherton) and the lads in the Phoenxi academy are probably still too young.

I'm thinking this guy could well end up playing half the games this year.  So not exactly just a squad role.  Needs to be starting ready and much better than our makeshift options.

If Boxall had not left for more money (and not blaming the guy, good for him) we'd have our ready to go kiwi.

So think this might be the correct thread, but no more Siggy after this season if the Nix survive.

Contract is void if we don't get the extension, its a no risk deal for us. It is a sign of faith from Krishna tho.
