why dont we just all turn our backs at the start of the game and not sing

Interesting developments ... can understand disappointment by local fans... can also understand the issue of getting four games with 15K plus crowds and maybe payments by the hoist city to play there [money is important]... and see the point some have mentioned about if you play away from home to much you don't have a home after a while...

No idea of the solution nor what the future may look like but understand the pain of loosing home games ... hope it all turns out OK ...

In reply to Tegal asking if I'd be "happy" taking half the games out of Wellington... obviously no... but I'd be a shit load happier with (1 or 2 if you listen to the interview) some games going if it makes the club sustainable and ultimately, successful which is the clearly stated desire if Welnix.

But you're right - lets all have a tanty and protest the owners who saved our club (it's not as though the FFA would have). Then, when they decide at the expiration of their licence that they cbf'd losing money AND copping grief from the clubs fans and decide to pull the pin and focus on rugby (or not, who cares). Then we can move the Zone to DF park and we'll all be happy (FYI - thats some sarcasm right there).
Bite the hand that feeds much?
I would love nothing more than being able to stumble to the Zone every week and watch a game with 10k fans (or more) and enjoy supporting a successful team. And if you look at what Welnix have said since their inception, nor would they. The cold hard facts are they are putting their money into our club... and if losing a game (or 2, even 3) a season to Auckland (Taihape, Nelson, wherever) in the short term is going to contribute to the success, sustainability and long term success of my club then as much as I hate it, I understand.
Am I going to reconsider my membership next season, or beyond? Of course not - because this is my club and I want to play my small part in their success, and if that means I only get to see them here 7, 8, or 10 times a year instead of 12 or 13 - so be it, they're my club and it sure as shit beats not seeing them at all.  We nearly went there once, I don't wanna go there again.

If you have a different opinion then thats great, I respect and applaud that, it would suck if we all felt the same - but please show me the same respect in allowing me to have mine. Debate is great... and so are arseholes (like opinions, they help get the shit out).
Now where's the dicks/pussy's/arseholes vid from Team America?

Then again, if I'm in Brissy I may be a Roar member (thats a joke kids) next year anyway so I guess my opinion is irrelevant.

Emphasis being - without their money, we have no club. Again, not saying I agree - but it sure beats Plan B (aka the Hurricanes lol).

Except they said they'd do this regardless of crowds (and money). You're making it out to be a 'few games away vs no games at all' scenario, and it simply isn't that at all.

Just because I disagree with your opinion, doesn't mean I don't respect your right to have it. Why does everyone on here think that whenever someone disagrees with them?

Indeed, without their money we'd have no club.  But if they then go and take the club away from us one game at a time, we also end up with no club.
I just don't think that having more away "home" games will result in bigger crowds.  The novelty factor would soon wear off for other cities/towns, and crowd numbers would stabilise at a much lower level than they currently get.  They'd be better off focusing on how to get more Wellingtonians along to games, in my opinion.

I think the crowds that show up in Dunedin and Auckland this year will be a factor in Welnix decision to take the show on the road

That comment wasn't aimed at you specifically, it was merely an observation.

Ok, well clearly I have no idea so I'll shut up then. (KIDDING).

Think a good banner is the way to go - however would also be good to have a few ideas and poll it for a consensus rather than letting a few opinions decide it.

Otherwise I feel my shift the fever zone to aisle 4 & 5 isnt actually too bad an idea. We are still supporting the team by chanting and doing everything else propper, we are just taking a stand against the club.

People have much less of a problem with 1 or 2.  Although not great, it is what we have currently.  The issue is when it is 1 or 2, plus a few more, like seems to be currently talked about. 5/13 home games away is pretty significant.

Shit, was going to go to the Dunedin game but will be staying home if my attendance there means I lose games here! Dilemma!

Dunners is the FFA regional game, a strong attendance will help them keep it.

I don't know what Phoenix games are on the same weekend next year as the wellington rugby boys but what's the bet it is those games they will want to shift post haste.

Don't think your idea would work.  Not everyone in the zone is in the forums so you'd have the people down one end, the other in 21.

You guys can't get enough to the game to make it financially viable, because the football is pretty poor right now.  When the side has been playing attractive winning footy (and the weather has been OK) we have built crowds.  The  crowds have been going down steadily, because the footy has not shown any significant improvement for a while now.

Best you stick up for the guys who are forking out millions between them to give this a shot.  In case you didn't notice, Ricki a'i'nt doing this for free, but Welnix are.  You stick up for Ricki like he's the messiah, despite the crap football he is giving us, his propensity to sign old men and the unwillingness he has to sub his currently underperforming old boys club.  Even he senses the sh*t is hitting the fan right now in terms of quality of performance.

If we need 3 or 4 games (out of 13 or 14) played elsewhere you still get ten home games at the 'Tin every year, coutesy of Welnix.  And the best you guys can come up with is you'll turn your backs on them.  Give it a minutes thought guys.

pffffft

Play some decent footy, build the crowds up as much as possible, and if necessary take a good product on the road a bit more to help fund it.  Only in your dreams do you get a Terry Seripisos willing to fund any amount of cost so you get to watch good footy at home.  And even Terry would be grumpy at the standard of the footy at the moment.

true - although wouldnt be too hard for some people to sit around the edge of the zone and direct people to move.. but yeah a bit of hard work.

I think you guys are just protesting cause its too far to walk ;)
