BOOKED!!!! Front row just behind you dudes in the zone

Here is the official seating plan!

There are 4 seating areas as you can see from the plan above - General seating, away fans area (unsure if seated or GA), a dedicated family area which is also where there are block bookings from local football clubs, and the Fever Zone which not only encompasses the entire West stand but also spans the lower North stand.

The West Stand Fever Zone is being advertised in the ticketing system as "general admission" (as it should be if the Fever spirit is adhered to) and the ticketing person said that the system does NOT ask for "seats" to be selected when making the booking.

However the lower North Stand Fever Zone DOES ask for seating allocation - this stand is far less clear with regards whether it is "general admission".

I know that there have been historical problems at other grounds in this respect and hopefully we don't have stupid security in Dunedin...

doesn't seem to make sense to put the fever zone (where y'all will be standing) in front of the family zone where they'll be sitting with kids, and would you reall want the away fans right next door to you??theprof2011-07-20 14:24:32

Just to add to the above, 99% of families are likely to be in the seating zone I indicated above because you cannot buy the family discounted ticket anywhere else.

Also I'm not sure if people with Fever Zone West Stand tickets can wander along into the Lower North Stand Fever Zone. I am guessing no...

I hope they don't go overboard with security given that we will be lucky to get 10,000 to the game (I hope we do but I am not really that hopeful which spells badness for future games )

It would seem from the pictures I have seen that there are 2 different tiers so Fever in the lower area standing would not block the view of anyone in the tier above.

Incidentally, flight prices are an utter joke. $471 return from Wellington to Dunedin? Very poor indeed.

This is a skeleton but yeah Fever pitchside, then Upper North Stand on tier above. I'm in the front row of that tier

Dunedin flights are indeed a farking joke. That's what happens when you have competition. Oh wait a minute...

Hmm, maybe I've been looking at the wrong stand. One of the stands has an actual lower tier with about 10 rows or so, and then a second tier about 5 times the size above it.

I just checked and it's genuinely about $40 cheaper to fly Wellington - Auckland - Dunedin and back with Jetstar than it is just to fly from Wellington with Air NZ.

Would've been up for this game but not spending over $500 on a friendly I'm afraid.

Oh wait... I think I have it wrong. The pictured stand is the SOUTH Stand which has the hospitality above the upper stand. The North Stand should be similar though.

Probably cheaper to fly to Chch or Queenstown and grab a rental, especially if travelling as a group. You do know how far Dndn airport is from the city?

Here's an image of the North Stand (Family above, Fever/Away below) FROM the South Stand. Looks like that lower "stand" just blends into the "upper" stand?

25 minutes max into town from the airport.

Incidentally if there are a group of you then I'm happy to pick up any YF fans from the airport on Friday afternoon and/or drop off on Sunday as long as the flights tie in with my other commitments.

Shuttles are a ripoff but if there is only 1 or 2 of you it might still work out easier to take one. I can take possibly up to 6 in my YF mover.

Regardless of views being obstructed, is it wise to put the family zone next to the fever zone?  At RoF they are at opposite ends of the stadium.

I assume we are all going for the west stand? Would make no sense at all to split the fever up?

Booking west stand online allocates seats but lets expect there to be no dracionian enforcement of such stupidity (after all, they only enforce it if someone complains)

Incidentally I used to HATE Ticketek but as much as I want to like their competitor (who are proudly NZ owned apparently), Ticket Direct are CRAP and expensive to use. Customer service is pretty average. Their system doesn't even identify the West Stand as the Fever Zone!

It is mentioned in the blurb but when you select tickets it's up to you to click in the right zone:

Oh dear allocating seats is the first step towards numpty enforcement. No doubt someone will buy tickets in the Fever Zone for the atmosphere and ignore the fact the booking says "GA" and then call security when someone is found in their seats...

I'm in the wrong stand for a banner on TV (will the game even be televised?)

A banner is in planning for sure though - even if it won't be on TV it will be one that sends a message to the team.

At this stage I'm planning to be in Retro Ricki. When does the new playing strip get revealed?

the problems in the past have not been down to the security so much - more people being able to buy tickets in the Zone without being told there will be people standing in that area.

Maybe being a bit negative here but having part of the fever zone right below the family zone and next to the away supporters bay is somewhat naive.  Unless the stadium is keen to see how quickly security responds to lots of complaints.

Not sure if it will be televised, hope so.  Could bring Jnr Jnr to the 4 Kings for the first time if so.

Someone on the forum mentioned september for the new strip.

The ticket buying process has been cocked up by the powers that be nominating two fever zones. What are we to do? I guess we collectively nominate a zone for ourselves and put the word out?

So what will it be? West stand behind the goal or north stand on half way?

Less likely to encounter non-fever types in the west stand i guess.

IMHO this is STILL not clear. Here is what the description of the event is:

A "Fever Zone" has been created for those wanting the ultimate Phoenix football experience. This zone consists of the West Stand(General Admission) and the west end of the Lower North Stand.

GA yes but no mention of standing.

If you look closer at the seating plan I posted above, the "family/club" area occupies the middle 66% of the ground. Between the 22 yard lines if it was a rugby game. The area outside this on either side is closed off. I am pretty sure that the away fan zone is actually in front of the closed off section so the away fans may not actually be directly in front of the family/club zone.

However the Fever Zone definitely extends to an area in front of the family/club zone.

These days it doesn't bother me.  Three seasons ago we stayed well away from the fever zone - could just hear the words but not enough for young minds to pick them up.

Two seasons ago mine knew pretty much all the chants and expressive phrases.

Just saying that some families might not appreciate the atmosphere that is special to the fever.

You aren't wrong and I'm not sure why the bunched the family/club zone into the North Stand to be honest. The South Stand is the "main stand" and if you look at the TD website there are HUGE greyed out areas they are they are not selling.

I agree it could have been better planned out but it seems that those that make the decisions never really consult with anyone at YF. I know it's hardly a requirement for officials to consult with a supporter's club over ticketing zones but given how important YF is to the Phoenix (and how well mobilised/organised they generally are compared to any other such supporter's clubs) I think it's something that Phoenix officials really should do.

Having said that -the worst potty mouth I've heard was a father (with his two young sons) in Aisle 24 last season.

We shifted closer to the fever zone to escape him!

It doesn't. Check the Forsyth Barr Stadium Facebook site and see picture of that stand with seats now in both tiers - there are 2 distinct tiers, the bottom one being VERY small.
