Max Burgess joins Troy Hearfield in ex-Nix players to score vs Celtic

Hopefully that's where the similarities end, for his sake

Thought he had left us for another A league club before he signed for them. The money dosnt trickle down that far does it.

Training compensation, no.
Solidarity payment yes. On transfer fee, not his wage.

Easy to read overview here

FIFA transfer rules here
See Annexe 4&5

This is correct but the original post was in regard to the FIFA pay out for being selected for the World Cup. He was at the Nix 2 years ago, so we should get a share of that.

Oh, right.
Misinterpreted that.

You can guarantee that it will be worth a few bob down the line too.

Take good care of it Cammy, maybe invest in a safe or something! 🔐

Wonder if Messi told him to stop running all over the show, as you can walk and still get the job done!

I'll stick this here. Cammy to have another Socceroos team mate? Plenty of them in Scotland.  So Kuol won't be learning off the Woodsman just yet?

After being a free agent since July last year, Sandoval finally has another club. He's back to Mexico and back to one of the 2nd tiers, Liga de Expansion MX Clausara to play for Tepatitlan FC, all the best to him.

Kraev and Sandoval would be an elite wide 10 pairing tbh.

I actually think that that would work and move Sasse into the middle with Zawada or Ball up front. Play a 4-2-3-1 formation
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I was actually wondering why Uffie didn't go for him. Although we signed Kraev, we still signed another attacking mid in Sasse.

He was here on a loan, and we do not know the terms or the timing of any discussion at that time. Sandoval might have wanted to go back anyway.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I think Uffie was searching for another Davila, but Sandoval didn't reach that high bench mark.

So Talay took a punt on going back out into the visa player/agent market, trying to find a better fit than Sandoval. Visa players always an element of risk, but Uffie's got it far more right than wrong overall.

Sasse has got that break through game just around the corner I reckon. I know we can't wait, but...

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Sasse has certainly struggled to find his feet and come to terms with the league, starting with zero English probably doesnt help, but he may just be one of those players that needs time to get himself settled. It can't be easy travelling to a small island in the South Pacific to play your footy - regardless of what pre-work your agent has done or the club to make it easier. Like you OiOi I think there is a break out game in him to come, and it isn't far off.

Queenslander 3x a year.

Decline scores the fifth in a 5-0 rout of Aberdeen this morning. Would be amazing if he gets picked up during this transfer window, although maybe another season or two at this level/with Hearts would be the best for him too…

Hearts fans seem to be getting the point we were with him. They love his passion & relentlessness but starting to see his passing is a real weakness in his game.

I still think he can get to the Championship tho.

I love Zawada's passion, workrate and attitude from what I saw on the Kiwi Football Fix. Hope we can find him a NZ Partner and keep him here for awhile, would be a fan favourite at this rate!
He already has a partner, who is pregnant

A Kiwi daughter/son will do then
Nix in 20 years could be fielding Zawada Jr, Uli Jr and Lennon Sosa Peña (Mandi Jr) among many others I’m sure.
Didn't wanna derail the Zawada thread but wanted to say it will be so cool when former players kids start playing for the club.

Vaughan Coveny's kid is in the u17's but is Aussie based. So maybe the first Nix kid to play for the team might be one of Paul Ifill's daughters for the ALW side?

Vaughan is in Fiji watching his son as we speak.

https://www.oceaniafootball.com/family-ties-for-nzs-coveny/

Vaughan Coveny said that the family arrived just before NZ’s nail-biting quarter-final win over Vanuatu, a game that he said put them “on edge.”

“But they got through that so come semi-final time they’re up for it again. It’s not going to be easy.”

There is a bit of symmetry with Fiji for both father and son. The island nation is host to Luka’s first appearances in an NZ shirt, while Vaughan made his senior international debut against Fiji back in 1992. In another twist, Vaughan’s NZ record of 29 goals was eclipsed by Chris Wood last year in the OFC World Cup 2022 Qualifiers, when the Nottingham Forest striker scored two in the All Whites’ game against Fiji.

“It’s really only the start for him,” said Vaughan about Luka.

“He’s progressing really well, so we’re so happy to be here and support him. It’s a really good experience for the whole team to come away and experience other countries, what it’s like to play on the other side of the ocean.

“It’s not easy here with the heat and humidity, the grounds. For the other teams, they’re a bit more used to that, but for New Zealand team, we’re not so used to it. So it’s difficult at times.”

Piscopo was on fire last night and Sotorio also had a good game (goal and an assist).

No goals for Piscopo, but a couple assists and some quality running with the ball.
