Unsuitable for day/night ODI matches. No lights. Can't hold enough people.
...enough people? Pah! They'd only need a ground capacity of about A HUNDRED. *grumbling unreasonably*....

Wow, this is not nearly as bad as I thought it could be. Pretty satisfied with that I think. Not everything going our way (holiday games etc) but overall I think it could definitely be a lot worse.
...well how bad did you think it might be?
Why rule out NHS?
...it's not finished! It's only half built.... isn't it? what? WHAT?
'Who are ya' is getting tiresome though.
We sound like a bunch of Bristol Rovers fans.
Feel free to start any chant you want.
At least we aren't a bunch of Bristol Cities...

I think you gotta say FFA have done their homework with poor drawing teams do not have mid week games ...
Socceroo/ Mariner / Whangarei
Reckon Napier might still be a chance to host a game.
First CWC game there is 4 March. Shane Harmon suggested that most stadiums have a 2-3 week clear zone before their games. 3 weeks would mean 11 February.
1st home away game is 14 Feb.
HamilTron has its rectangular stadium available during CWC.
The real one - an early game at the Basin. Shock horror and history!
Even better Mt Smart game of origin. AFC boycoot?

What is wrong with a 3pm game at the Basin anyway? Be nice to see the ground full for once.

decent question actually. I know its not ideal but surely preferable to having 80 days between games in Wellington. Sadly I suspect the answer is that Welnix would prefer the 3 games to be outside of Wellington.
Probably logistical reasons why the basin is unsuitable too - but none that I know of.

Actually, if the club want to save some money in travel etc and wish to more firmly establish a true fan base here, this is exactly where they should play those three games. Tiki Touring achieves naf all overall. Sorry but that is the way it is. rather have 9k in a full basin looking full than 9k in Eden park or Forsyth Stadium and looking 3/4's empty. I think it is time the Nix really to need to start claiming back the local fans that have drifted away for various reasons.
And don't worry about the parking.

yeah except they get more than 9k in Auckland..
It's a training venue for the world cup. Not available.

How about Trafalgar park in Nelson? Couldn't get any less of a crowd than places like Napier, Dunedin, Palmy... and still pretty close to wellington.

A game in the tron would be awesome. The pitch there is amazing. I heard a quote from one of the under 20 world cup exc's stating that it was the best turf he'd seen, which maybe a bit of smoozing but nevertheless.
Could get a good crowd and town is super close.
Im in.
These 3 games will probably be on PPV too...

Now that wouldn't surprise me.
Just remember the FFA stadium rules re seating etc

Nov. 30 home game v Melbourne City
Seems Melbourne will be fielding Villa, Duff and Lampard now.

Would actually be highly entertaining if the Nix beat them - considering the difference of some several millions of dollars in transfer fees between the two squads....

How can City afford this with a salary cap?
How can City afford this with a salary cap?
Duff (1 year deal) - Inside Cap and uses visa spot
Lampard (Short term loan) - International marquee spot, outside cap but uses visa spot.
So no Hamilton as the Chiefs have it booked. Will be NHS and two in Wellington. Just not at the staidum.
If we don't Wreck it I'll be disappointed.
