I thought the stadium was the only venue in Wellington up to A League standards - specifically the lights (which as I understand they take into account even for day games)?

Hutt Rec lights are unlikely to be up to scratch for TV - also limited broadcast/corporate facilities. There's always the Petone Wreck... though in all seriosness I would think Porirua/Newtown would be more likely.

Broadcast issues are going to be a "Sky is going to have to deal with it", since all of the stadiums that can be easily broadcast from are out of action. And lighting isn't going to be an issue because the games are going to be played in the afternoon (2pm ish).

Basically, the A-League standards are going to have to be relaxed, because there is no stadiums in the country that meet them and can be used for the three games.

Really? What about Palmy, New Plymouth, Tauranga, Whangarei? Surely they can't all be in use?

I'm guessing the Basin will be out because of the wicket block in the middle... Couldn't risk damage to it halfway through the cricket season and they don't have the drop-in equipment there

Palmy would get less attendance than this venue.

Palmy was shite.

My point was that if the A League insists on certain standards for venues we might not get away with arguing that there's none available to us. What's the best alternative in the Wellington region? Newtown Park?

Porirua Park with temp stands on the other side could be alright for about 6k (better than Hutt Rec anyway). Would be a nightmare for parking though.

Basically, if they're going to have it anywhere in Welly other than Stadium it will need temp stands. Maybe somewhere with a bit of space like Fraser Park?

Last season someone generated a pdf version of Nix fixtures.  Has anyone done so again yet?

Where is the Off Season Anger????

Be be honest I'm pissed off with the Nix and Ernie, It's still AGES away until the season starts and we appear to have signed everyone just about.

Do the Nix not realize the only thing that gets us through an off season is ANGST at the lack of signings and investment in the club?

Instead we've had Football United - A concept that was far to good, enjoyable and was a success - Wellnix what were you thinking?

The Topp Twins got us all united.

Gorrin looks good and our other additions look good also.

I tried to moan about the lack of strikers and Brockie but my hearts not really in it as I'm actually quite happy with everything.

FFS somebody do something to piss us all off please!!!

Looks like the 7 March 2015 game that was going to be at NHS will be swapped with a home game pre Christmas so they can put it at Eden Park.

Just on the away games, a slide showed that 11% of Phoenix revenue game from the three home/away games last year.

In comparison, 5% of revenue came from season passes, and another 5% came from ticket sales.

Easy to see the rationale.

For all other home games aside from the home/away ones? That seems odd ticket prices at all games are the same. Or are there really that few paying fans in Wellington once you take all the comp tickets out?

To clarify, in all three figures, was that Gross Revenue (ie incomming cash from sales of the type listed WITHOUT subtracting the costs expended to generate that casj) or was it Net Revenue (ie the "profit" from that source - revenue left over AFTER the costs were taken away?)

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Revenue. As in income.

Nothing to do with costs.

Excluding the away games.

Seems about right. We had 3500 odd season passes last year. Our crowds were about 7,000-9,000.

I'm assuming that's heavily affected by the other councils underwriting their games, or letting them use the stadium for free/cheap etc.

If it's (Gross) revenue then costs make no difference, so the deals with stadiums mean nothing.

I understand why they are doing it, but still frustrated by what seems a large amount of promotion for the Auckland games that doesn't seem to be as predominant for games in Wellington.

Money has to be the driving force though because otherwise we'll just have no club, as much as that sucks.

Anyway moving on to the schedule, so a Pre-Christmas game will be at Eden Park, where are the 3 games in Feb/Mar going to be now?
