Heard a rumour that another Nix vs ACFC pre-season "friendly" is on the cards this year. A tasty morsel to follow up the EPL tour and no doubt an element of revenge for you guys. I think the mighty City will be stiffer opposition than the lamentable Hammers. Look forward to it if it happens.

I'm excited. I expect the ticket prices to be no less than $120 for this thrilling encounter. Better start saving Steve-O

Would another EPL team next year have a smaller crowd due to the a decreased 'OMG an EPL team is playing the phoenix' novelty factor?

Either Everton or Villa would probably be the likely targets, question would be how much support they have in Aussie/Asia. There were a lot of people that flew into NZ for these games.

Oh man, the chance to see some of the greatest players grace Kiwitea St is priceless. Your Morris', your Vicelich's, your Irving's..... It's immeasurable. Can't stop thinking about it.....

Not to mention the tantilising prospect of local boy Riera returning home!

Can't say I give a sh*t about the result any more than I did when we played any central league side. We aren't rivals.

How do you think the game would go BM?

Well that was exciting, glad I made it in the end, only issue with the entire tournament was the Topp Twins (like you!), everything else was perfect. I am still apprehensive about the season ahead, but will put money where mouth is for the Nix to make the finals at least. Stoked to see two A-league clubs beat an EPL side, even if said EPL side were playing like Miramar Rangers.

Out of all the matches, I'd say Sydney's victory over West Ham was the most impressive. Because they were playing away from home under a new coach who is still working out player combinations.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Dunno. Nix are a better prospect this season. Still think we have the most lethal finisher in the land in Tade though.

Was brilliant all round (Top Twins aside) was in Auckland and Wellington, picked up one of the scarves & programmes at each, big ups to all involved in putting the week together. A good sign when at the wellington game a group behind me of rugby heads, similar age (early 20's) said half way through the first half of the toon vs nix game "I was expecting guys rolling around on the ground and hairdressers every five mins, I am pleasantly surprised,we might have to come to some more of these" .

The only disappointing part is that after those performances I'm not going to be around this season  to see it all come together.

Bad news, the guy coughed up for the programme. sorry about this. There must be others out there able to help though. I don't think they were sold out. But they should have been. They are awesome.

i gotta say well done to wellington for (nearly) filling the stadium

as for auckland, we give you West Ham on a plate and you can still only muster 19k

IMO this rules you out of an a-league chance

Not sure why, but seems to have caught on in England - singing twist and shout over and over and over!

I went to Maine Road to see West Ham win in 2003, and (apparently) that was the first time the travelling West Ham fans sung it (for about 30 minutes non-stop). By all accounts it was a spontaneous act that just caught on much to everyone there's amusement (and all the Man City fans bemusement). It is now a pretty standard part of the away repertoire.

I kinda want to ask 'why?'

I get most football chants but not sure how that fits in at a football match? i.e. there is zero football reference at all.

Maybe some people think football is entertainment and therefore do things purely for fun rather than there needing to be a deeply sarcastic hidden motive.

Back in CHCH after a mega weekend away, thanks for the hospitality.  Brought 15 from CHCH, adults and kids, and we all had a grand time. Speaking of The Grand, what a pub.  $8 breakfast, 15% off food and drinks if in football gear, wow.

Met some cool YF crew, even some classic conversation about the 11 team league.  Was brillo.

You guys are lucky to have professional football in your city, look after it for all of us please!  Taonga.

Ahh, conversely Auckland get over double the Wellington average for a Nix regular season game last season, so this rules Wellington out of hosting further regular season A League games.

It's a one-sided rivalry. The Knitting Circle want us to be rivals because they blame us for not being bigger and more important. It's kind of like Eagle v Shark with the Nix being the Samoan bully in a wheelchair, and the Knitters being that Conchords guy.

At the game on Saturday they playec the tune to match of the day I believe? Perhaps we should adopt it as our tune in and out of the game. Could be a bit of fun for everyone. I mean the words are simple enough. Da da da dada da da dar, dad dadad da da dar. Or along those lines.

You serious Jeff?

If it makes no sense that's exactly why!

All the best football chants are randomly bonkers.

We used to sing Twist and Shout regularly in Bloc 5 at Kingz games.

Ric Le Roc would lead off with a long drawn out "Weeeeelllllllllllllll SHAKE IT UP BABY!!!" and the Bloc woudl reply en masse with "Twist and Shout"... he'd lead with each alternate line and we'd reply with the following line.

Good times. It always generated a very postive party atmosphere.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

We should be looking to push an annual pre-season game against TW over that in my opinion

Or play a different franchise or two each year, take the show around. Why does it need to be Auckland City every year? Waitakere are as good. A game in Chch would be cool, or at the Bluewater... etc

Is Martin not saying over summer we will have Phoenix games each week of the ASB in the last press release SW quoted him in(close to any way)

Perhaps one against our local side, TW, and one against the reigning ASB prem champion, could be good.
