Who's the YF member on the Big Sports Weekend with Guy Williams and Dai Henwood? Absolute gold! and quite often gives football a large coverage (opened with it the other week over the All Blacks)

In The Zone V30 is live at www.yellowfever.podomatic.com & Itunes bit.ly/YFZone.

We celebrate our pearl anniversary by reviewing Round 3 of the Hyundai A-League as the Wellington Phoenix FC remain unbeaten with a 1-1 home draw with the Roar, and look ahead to Round 4 action, including the Phoenix's away trip to Adelaide United FC. We cover All Whites abroad in the New Zealand football segment, and look at the Napier U19 tournament in regional football.

I'm going to summarise this week as Phoenix awesome, everyone else is $hit and we're going to smash them.  Maybe we'll revisit those words in a couple of weeks ;-)

I'm a bit disappointed the Phoenix didn't have anyone at U19s, notwithstanding the difficulties with numbers.  Would be a good symbolic presence even if they (hopefully) know who the good youngsters are.

I've often thought that the Phoenix should sponsor that tournament.

Be some cool synergy if the Nix and Nike (probably more in to NZ football than Adidas, but you never know) teamed up then they could do some Nike + Nix Youf Tournament, I guess an extension on that thingy Nike does, "the chance". Would add some more weight to the tournament.

Nix to no chance?

A bit of clash with Adidas sponsoring the Phoenix.

Barefaced liar.

Possibly the most listened to podcast?

With the podcast there should be a new segment which should go down well with the listeners. A short (very short, maybe 60 seconds), interview with a yellow fever member on this forum (perhaps the prize for the member who says the most intelligent comment during the week?). My pick for week number one is Tegal. The ratings would skyrocket!!

I would download several times if there was a recording of a pillow fight between AP and 2B.

It’s Episode 31 and In the Zone simulates  a real podcast as it dives  into the Sigmund/Jeronimo controversy from the Phoenix’s 3-1 loss to Adelaide. We try not to trip  ourselves up as we look at Round 5 action and the Phoenix falling over  themselves to take 3 points from their trip  to Melbourne. The pod chucks  itself into the recently announced game between the All Whites and China, and Kiwis making a splash  overseas. While Team Wellington springboard  into action in the opening round of the ASB Premiership.

Haven't got all the way through yet, but for A-League stuff I'm 100% in agreement with Smiffy.

El Grap's argument about not second guessing ref's decision I don't agree with. Already their decisions are second guessed and scrutinised, just that in this instance the Phoenix are hit twice for a poor ref's decision - red in game and a one match suspension. If the MRP had the scope to they could have downgraded it to a yellow - result still stands but Siggy is not suspended.

It's the same reason sackwhacker never got suspended for whacking said sack - the ref gave him a yellow and since the ref didn't miss the incident and the MRP can't second guess the subjectiveness of the ref the yellow stood and the MRP can only suspend someone sent off or if the ref missed the incident.

If in both instance the MRP had the ability to change the card they probably would have, but no Siggy gets a week and sackwhacker gets nothing other than a nickname.

Good to hear Smithy all fired up for once - I definitely side with him on the Jeronimo issue... I understand how the rules work, but I think they're absolutely bollocks. Therefore I don't see the use in them.

Smithy's point about 'will we see 1000 penalties from now on, since there is so much pushing and shoving in the penalty box before corners' was spot on.

Truth is, there is no consistency whatsoever because the refs are so different (and poor, apart from Strebre).

I am of the opinion that all referees in professional leagues should be professionals themselves. This means they could train, study and practice every day of the week - which would greatly improve the standard.

This.
How can FFA throw away money on WSW and Shinji Ono and not on pro refs..?

Best pod yet lads.  Great robust discussion on 'the incident' showing all the different points of view.  Loved it!
