Elliott, Ward, Greenacre, Ifill combo in the midfield. It's never been done, and I think it'll work well.

Nah, it's a doco about Terry fleeing from the IRD

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

definetly need more flair in the midfield

                                 vukovic

                 north      sigmund  dura    muscat

                                       elliot

                              ifill                bertos

                                      ward

                                 greeny       pavlovic

paston
hearfield
daniel
lia

never seen this before, but it could work, wards a good attacking player and bertos and ifill 2 fast players out wide, elliot stil there to hold the defencive midfield. pavlovic something new to the side, mix it up a little insted of going for the same players every game

Nah, it is a must win and Elliott is no worse than the other options and better than most.Possession and patience is what we need to control the game against the Jets or they will roger us soundly

Yep, exactly what I want to see. Pavlovic and Greenie will have to track back a lot to cover Iffy though.

I just hope we have two strikers on the park at the same time (for a change), less than 3 wingers in the squad and a higher tempo of play. Bigger work rate from Elliot required in my few and too many negative passes back needlessly - he can be more positive and should go in with that attitude consciously.I think Manny has proved to be a great ball player and would be great to get him in midfield again - maybe swap him and Lia over?

Only question here is who the heck is going to make the tackles in the mids? Ward given to showboating in front of his area, and elliot a bit slow at times...

Interesing point here from Ricki:

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=10688842

"I watched Newcastle against Brisbane," said Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert before Thursday's trip across the Tasman. "They're playing okay, but they've all been at home."

Yeah, but in case you hadn't realised Ricki, they're at home again tonight!

Also, can't believe we're going to have both Pavlovic and MacAllister on the bench. Such a waste.

MacAllister is a waste of a bench spot, you're right.

Fuck this stupid game

I notice from that article Jade North won't be playing, did  he make the trip over with them?

I don't think RH is in good space right now. Anyway, just want them to play well. Newcastle are starting to play way better than we have been - up until now.

personally, i would like to play muscat in elliots role (strong tackler, can run a whole game, and has an eye for a pass similar to elliots) and play elliot further up in the midfield. the only problem with that though, is that we dont have anyone else to cover the left back role, and a back 3 doesnt work for the phoenix

Second and third that. Send him to the ASB Premiership again to learn how to score.

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

Where did you get that info from??

On the official Hyundai preview of the game, it says that he is out for 4 weeks due to injury. But the team management will know best, would be good if one of the YF could ask one of them. (Could have got an answer from Tony P in the old days)

That's our best starting 11 assuming North is unavailable.

Buggered if I know why you would have 2 strikers on the bench but .............
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

our best 11 from this squad - if all fit would have Manny in midfield

oh and re those two strikers on the bench

hopefully, it's because one will stop us get totally burgered by the opposition and the other will give us something sweet to look forward to at the end

Start of a massive week for us.

Jets unbeaten at EAS this season and looked very good against Brisbane and Adelaide. They're playing their third game in a week.

Agree re Manny.

When Lochhead's back and Manny goes to midfield we'll be almost there. I think we are yet to get / see the best out of North - and it won't be at RB.

It will be interesting when Griffiths arrives and we (hopefully) go to some variation of 4-4-2. There will then be even more competition for midfield spots which has to be good for getting the best out of players.

Anyway to tonight - COYN.
