That was the original plan, but apparently the council won't allow it because of residential access.

Thistle?

The opposite end of Kate Shepperd Place from the Bencher.  Some of the Fever gather there and we pick them up on the way past.

One thing folks, and I can't re-iterate this enough times.  You need a 2nd ticket for the Adelaide match, you should have one piece of paper for Adelaide and one for the Galaxy match.  Tell everyone you know who is going Friday this.

The tickets for Beckham have "Both" written on them and there is a lot of confusion that this means it is a ticket for both games.  It's not.

That was to "officially" close it..... but with the numbers going I'd say it'll be a fairly difficult street to drive down between 6-7pm on Friday and hopefully between 12-7pm on Saturday.

Here's to the biggest weekend of the Benchers life!!!

C'mon our Phoenix!!!

12... now you are challenging me Coxey...  my record for being the first at the BB will be under threat with that, particularly as Mrs. News is joining me.

I may be a bit slow - but I'm a wee bit confused by the cut form a previous post - as below.
I have a season pass - and a separate Galaxy pass. So assume...Season pass seats for Adelaide match and paper tickets for galaxy match.....

cheers

Fairly sure Hards news comment was for those without season passes.

Yep, Karori you're on the money.  Use your season pass as per normal for the Adelaide game and then you need a paper ticket for the Galaxy game.

News' comment was for a ll the confusion surrounding those that have (or don't have) paper tickets for both games.....

I think we can all see theres gonna be some pretty unhappy folk at the gates on Friday or Sat nights when they're trying to use one ticket that says "both games" to actually get into "both" games.

Same old Ticketek.....always ballsing!

Watch it really start to ramp up this week with the Galaxy arriving in Sydney, the game v Bling in the week and in taking up most of the media forms this week it'll be a sell out by Friday.

That I have no doubt......prepare to enjoy a weekend fiesta and sing your hearts out for the Nix...

yeah speaking to people - sounds like some locals have not brought their tickets yet but are probably gonna go. With it in the media this week - it should see them get off their arses and go down to Ticketek.

It would be a PR disaster and a Marketing f**k-up of epic proportions if they did that... surely they couldn't be that foolish.

Could it possibly just for the Galaxy game?

Even so, people have spent $82.50 just for the Galaxy game

Not true at all.

It's a potential PR problem, but I'm not bothered myself. I bought my tickets at the price they were on sale for at the time. If I hadn't been happy about the price, I wouldn't have paid. Just because someone else might strike it lucky and get cheaper tickets by taking the risk on ticket availability makes no difference on whether I was happy to pay the initial price.

As an example, this is how the travel industry functions. You can get cheap last minute flights and holidays - providing you're willing to take the chance on there still being tickets available. Or you pay the list price in advance.

However, I know most people take an "it's not fair someone got something better than me" approach to these things so the Nix need to manage the PR if they do decide to go with some last minute special pricing deals. Personally, I'm happy to have paid the price I did to choose the seats I did and be guaranteed tickets without sweating on availability.

Telfer's show is full of misinformation about all sports unless its golf orientated. Not reliable at all.

Queenslander 3x a year.

Cheers Tony,

Suspected you were too on to it to do that.  Is someone contacting Radio Sport to make sure it isn't taken as gospel ?

Veitchie did mention on the brekkie show that Telfer had some 'good oil' on ticket prices. Sounds like Telfer is just being naughty, he's never been a Phoenix let alone a football supporter. Checking on the Ticketek site, tickets (ex seniors and juniors which are $50) are still the same prices. So maybe someone of 60+ years told him he'd just bought a ticket for $50 and Telfer has had nothing better to do than use that info to stick the boot in when guys like Terry put their hands in their pockets and take a punt on things. And who cares what info is on radio sport, if anyone wants to buy a $50 ticket let them try. From what Tony has just said they won't be able to unless they're 60+

Veitchie is a cretin too.  Him, Mike Hosking, and Kate Hawkesby on Newstalk ZB are so nauseating.  If only we could generate electricity from egos...

Seriously Telfer is an absolute t0sser...he doesn't seem to realise that a guy who has won 99 caps for England, won the champs league, several english pemier league titles, La Liga plus other miscelaneouscups will be rememebered as a great player, and one of the best players who will be seen on NZ soil

All good. Maybe he is over 60 and didn't realise he was getting a seniors discount.

Telfer, a tragic buffoon in my view

limited knowledge, thinks he's god's gift = not a good combination especially in this instance!

I seldom survive more than 2-3 minutes before i have to change stations when he's on (that smarmy voice - not for me thanks)

David Beckham is attracting soccer fans in Wellington the same way he draws photographers off it - in large numbers.

By midday today more than 28,000 tickets were sold for Saturday's match between Beckham's American club LA Galaxy and the Wellington Phoenix.

A Phoenix spokesman said the club were still expecting a capacity crowd of over 35,000 for the match at Westpac Stadium.

Tuesday night's Galaxy-Sydney FC match in Sydney was sold out (80,000) a week ago.

England midfielder Beckham, who led his country in last year's World Cup and was a Manchester United and Real Madrid star before transferring to the Galaxy this year, has triggered unprecedented fan interest in Wellington.

When tickets went on sale about a month ago nearly 25,000 were snapped up in the first week.

Sales then slowed almost to a standstill before picking up again just before Beckham's arrival in Sydney a few days ago.

The 32-year-old, one of the most recognisable and marketable players in the world, would like to play the full exhibition matches down under.

He has previously appeared in promotions alongside Jonah Lomu, saying he had the utmost respect for the former All Blacks winger for the way he fought back after a kidney transplant to play rugby again.

Beckham and his team, on a two-match exhibition trip of Australia and New Zealand, will arrive in Wellington on Thursday and leave on Monday afternoon.

The will have a training session at Westpac Stadium on Friday at 11am which will be open to the public and play the Phoenix at 7.30pm the next day.

The Phoenix play Adelaide United in an A-League match at the same venue on Friday, where Beckham and his teammates will be presented to the crowd.
