The updated table won't show us changing positions, but tonight was a very important win to start the 2011 (calendar) year.

Yeah, come to think of it, goal difference could be important if we are fighting it out with Heart for 6th place.

class as usual LF1

we need the Jets to drop 3 points in order for our fate to be in our own hands

and it might prove useful that Hearts GD is worse than ours

Victory play Heart and Jets in upcoming rounds. Just about any combination of results there is going to help us as long as we keep doing the biz.

Two very tough games for us now though.

Indeed have to get a result out of one of them. I want 3 points at bluetongue. Totally possible just hard, would take a point against either normally but we will need 3 out of one of those games.

Impossible to predict the top six in order.

Yeah, that's a crazy list of games. So many possible results could go any direction.

Hmmm..Hearts to shade us methinks..10 points for us, 11 for them.

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

isn't there a mathmatical chance that Glory, Fuyr or Sydney could sneek in?

Just a shame Kevin Muscat wasn't playing and could enjoy our win. He would have been going spare all night as we ripped them apart.

11 points clear with 6 to play?
I think it's pretty safe to predict Brisbane will be 1st

Well... at least Ernie Merrick believes in us, although that's perhaps not the most ringing vote of confidence.

I wouldn't be too concerned with them!

Jets with back to back games against the Fury - no gimmes, especially in Townsville.

Not wanting to get ahead of myself but I will - with there now not being much between 5th and 6th worth remembering 5th comes with the chance of a 2nd round home play-off.

First round of play-offs is 3rd (home) vs 6th and 4th (home) vs 5th. If 5th and 6th both win (unlikely I know) the second round is 5th (home) vs 6th.

It could have happened last season. Newcastle beat Cold Toast on penalties and we were playing Perth. As the story goes, Perth nabbed a set piece goal and finished stronger as we went down to ten men. It became folklore when Caceres sent us delirious after his winning penalty, but it was a big escape.

I'm hoping NQF come out firing and knock over Newcastle. The last time Newcastle went to DFS it was 0-0 stalemate until Topor-Stanley nabbed a goal from a corner to break the game open. But that was when they were in form. Now? Not so much. We hope.

Newcastle are missing Ljubo how-ever-you-spell Milicevic for 4 to 6 weeks, his ankle injury being worse than initially thought. He's very crucial for them and that might just stuff them, it did against sydney.
Hopefully the Fury can get off the bottom of the table and ground Jets.

Sorry mate but Topor-Stanley has never scored a goal in the A league.
