Are you saying he doesn't like Ricki's attitude?

No Rojas needs full game time to develop. Can Phoenix offer this with out A League 2nd team, NO

I'd rather A league starts than Melbourne youth team.

It all relates to personal development, not anything to do with Ricky. Hogster2011-03-12 16:09:14

Rojas was involved in top level football with us. He started near on every game once he came back from injury.

He played one or two games in the reserve side to get him back to fitness. So he was getting more top flight football than he (as you said) will get at Melbourne, where he will be in the youth side.

Kind of craps all over your theory.

Because who was not available or injured, not because of his talent.

I don't know if we've had this confirmed or not on here but if so, here it is again.

"MELBOURNE Victory coach Ernie Merrick was today axed by the club.

The club confirmed the announcement at a press conference today and insisted they had not sacked him but it was a 'mutual parting of the ways'."

Two headlines in 442

" Victory sack merrick"
"FFA to block Postecoglu move to Victory"

So Marco is moving to the Victory for his personal development and he does not even know who his coach is going to be. LOL...ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha

The new guy might come in and say.."I don't do midget wingers.....off to the reserve grade for you my son"

It a huge huge risk for pro players when coaches change. Ther new guy has his own patterns and style he wants to play and will make decisions on what sort of players they want. Just look when Postecoglu arrived at the Roar....he did a huge cleanout and bought in his own players.

Marco, my boy.....have you made the right decision?

This. Rumours it could be Straka taking over, but it's a massive risk moving to a club with a change of coach when you still haven't fully proven yourself at a professional level.

How could they choose Muscat over Merrick.

Muscat to coach Victree.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Ok I'll put it this way. Do you really think Rojas is going over there to play in their youth team? Don't you think he'd be backing himself to make the starting lineup in an A league side.

Even assuming you're right and he's moving because their youth/reserve side is playing in a supposedly stronger competition, then that's a dumb move because he could stay here and be starting in no time. He needs to back himself.

To me it seems the opposite.

A dumb move no matter which way you look at it anyway.

I just don't see any logic behind your reasoning hogster.

I can't believe that Marco would have signed for the Victory without knowing who the coach is. After all, if you're worried about your "football development" surely the coach is the number 1 factor.

If Victory didn't tell him Merrick was on his way out then they duped him.

If Victory did tell him Merrick was on the way out, and that Ange was coming in, then they duped him.

Marco to do a Smeltz and try and get out of it?

Can't wait to hear what he's got to say about it anyway...

It's based on nothing.

Rodi spilt a lot of beans to some feverettes when he probably should have kept his mouth shut. Started a lot of unneccersary stories. I think everyone was a bit excited about what was happening and people saying/taking things the wrong way.

Much like the phoenix announced that he was leaving when  he hadn't signed anything.

Who said he doesn't? Perhaps the delay in the signing of a contract was to find out who was coming and who was going.

According to ESPN...
Postecoglou leads the Roar into the grand final on Sunday against Central Coast Mariners in Brisbane, and has another year remaining on his current deal with the club.
So assuming that is right it isn't really likely to be him, can't see Roar letting him go to Melbourne under any circumstances.

So the fundraising campaign (just 10 months ago) targeted at Victory fans to buy much-needed training facilities for the players was a resounding success (see Victory WTF thread around facilities fund raising).

mmmm

I just think the lad is just simply "overseas-is-the-real-deal" struck. If your dream is to be a football pro, it somehow feels more real getting a contract offshore rather than just down the line from the Tron.

It's part of the Kiwi psyche (those sports where we're the only game on town being a noticeable exception).

I know, I know, its serious!

Ange will definitely go to Melb in my opinion - they will announce it after the GF. All his family are there. It's probably why Marco held off signing till he knew for sure.

Melbourne would not of sacked Ernie without a ready made replacement.

If that was the case why wouldn't they have waited another couple of days to sack Merrick? Ange would not have wanted this coming out now.

It says they parted mutually so Ernie obviously had another job waiting (with Collingwood..)and perhaps he needed to go right now.

I'm guessing everyone has seen the Marco youtube rap? Who made that? Just saw it - brilliant.

They're coachless by choice so they obviously have someone already lined up/confirmed and I wouldn't be surprised if that person is Ange and Marco knows about it.

obviously that may or may not be the case - but they are still coachless and things dont always pan out the way they are meant to

FFA To Keep Ange In Brisbane

If I was Marco I'd be at least a little bit concerned about this (especially if I signed because Victory told me they had Ange in the bag).

Better a club without a coach than a club without a future.
