Burgess is gone. Kurto looks soon to leave. And Durante surely to retire, to the back office.

Next season only the head villain will likely remain, come match day.

They also have a bunch of guys who while never playing for the Phoenix are (imo) very unlikeable. Berisha, Diamanti and Uskok are a few that spring to mind.

Berisha, Uskok: Yes! Diamanti: No! He would have to be one of the most likeable blokes in the League.

really? Diamanti has always struck me as a bit of a whiner. Especially if WU are behind. He's more of a grub than Berisha.

Yeah Diamanti is that bloke who does his best to get under everyone's skin, then plays innocent as soon as someone comes back at him. Absolutely infuriating to watch and definitely a whiner/grub.

Seems like a nicer bloke off the pitch but can't stand him on it.

Agreed - but its different when he's one of your own. I wouldn't begrudge a WU fan (if you can find one) for liking Diamanti at all.

I love watching Diamanti. He's pure pantomime, one minute a villain next minute a clown, always grinning or grimacing, waving his arms around with those big Italian gestures. He's personality plus in a league that is quite frankly sadly lacking in personalities.

Apart from that he is a fantastic player, certainly the best long passer of the ball I've seen in the A League, and he's not some lazy show-me-the-money type either. Gets stuck in and gives his all for the cause even though his body is old and creaky.

re: Diamanti, surely no one was doubting his ability. I mean, you don't play in Serie A and represent Italy for nothing (though it does feel like that of late lol).
But I'd agree with those who strongly dislike him, as he is definitely someone who whines and dives a lot. Can change the game in an instant - yes, but he can also be really behave like a petulant child and really get under your skin.
And he's always been like that. I remember several year's ago he criticised Totti ahead of a Roma v Bologna clash, saying he wasn't a club stalwart as he was getting paid lots of money and that real club fans would play for free. As if he (Diamanti) didn't make a comfortable life out of football - though as far as I know, he's never had to turn down Real Madrid and Man Utd to stay with his boyhood club!

I'm pretty worried about Australia's controls at the border. From what I gather we have physical separation -- we either have separate terminals for red zone countries and green zone countries or we've built physical barriers within our terminals. In Australia they don't have this separation, and rely on people following instructions and for instructions to be given accurately.

Right now, with all the issues Australia is having keeping their border secure it seems like there's obviously a chance that the border will close before or immediately after the game.

Right now, with all the issues Australia is having keeping their border secure it seems like there's a pretty good chance that the border will close before or immediately after the game so I'd say it's even odds whether it's going to go ahead or not.

I flew Auckland to Brisbane 2 weeks ago, and it was easy. Complete separation on our green zone flight from the red zone in Brissy Airport.

International terminals in both Airports deadly quiet. Without knowing what systems they have in Australian airports it shouldn't be hard to keep red & green zone passengers separated, with so few flights and passengers around. The Brisbane Airport incident (day after I arrived) with 2 PNG red zone arrivals getting into the Green Zone, was acknowledged as human error, and some lessons learnt apparently.

Remembering the whole green zone/red zone in international terminals is fairly new. But with so few passengers roaming around the Green Zone, and people wearing masks, the chance of anyone else being infected is pretty low.

Sydney where Nix will depart from, and arrive back into will definitely be busier - but again I think risk of another Airport incident will be low.

The risk of new community cases popping up again in either NZ or Aussie, leading to local lockdowns, and flight suspensions is greater.

And read somewhere that the Aussie border control systems are now working as good as, if not better than NZ. Based on some sort of per capita, cases leaking through the border type stat.

Same - except last week. If anything, the Australian airport experience seemed stricter than Auckland airport. You're questioned outside the terminal at the drop off zone as to your movements, mandatory masks inside all parts of the terminal etc.

It's safe as - great time to travel imo.

10,000 tickets sold!

Just had a look at the Ticketek webby, someone must have put in a massive Group booking in. Bay 35 uncovered is now blocked off and 1/2 of Bay 35 Covered is marked as sold. They previously only had 2 tickets sold over both bays.

The article on the Nix webby says that is for Auckland but it is possible they are doing the same in Welly as well.
