Does Wellington have any Showgrounds or any other vacant pieces of land they can move this Home and Garden show to every year? Seems odd to me to hold it in a stadium to be honest 🤷‍♂️

none that are big enough to cater for all the stalls/exhibitors. There's TSB arena, but that is small, the new ASB arena in Kilbernie might work, but Id expect there is some agreement with the council that Sky stadium gets first dibs.

Normally it's not a problem as it falls in pre season, we even sometimes play friendlies during it and give free tickets to attendees.

It's not the land they want, it's the exhibition space behind the stands. The stadium is a multi purpose facility, at work we do our quarterly planning there for instance. It's ideally located for parking and public transport access.

I'd imagine the convention centre would be able to host it in 2023

They won't get 20k in Auckland. I think the Welnix have made a mistake taking this game to Auckland. We would have got 15k to the Ring of Fire. Prove me wrong Auckland....

Ring of Fire not available this weekend, so Welnix did not have a choice to hold it there.
I forgot about that. Some woke Wellington exhibition of house and garden right?? Meh....

I don't begrudge the Welnix owners anything at the moment. I hope they made some massive $ out of last weeks game and again at the Eden Park game. We are very fortunate to have owners who really care about keeping professional football alive and well in Wellington at considerable expense to themselves.

Home and garden show is on every year... at around the same time, we've had games moved because of this previously.

We've also had games too. Remember, if you bought a Home & Garden ticket, it got you into the Nix game??

that was a pre-season game/friendly. Can you imagine a reg season game with 24,000 fans plus the home and garden show occupying the concourse? CHAOS.

Impossible due to the concourse being the fire egress. It only worked for preseason games because there were 300 people watching the game, anything ten times that and above would be completely illegal.

That's impressive. If the weather forecast was better I'd expect 20,000. I guess we'll see.
I haven't seen one bit of advertising for the game.
Was going to say this. I've seen it online, but it hasn't' been mentioned anywhere else.

Fingers crossed the Nix get a result tomorrow (UK time) across the ditch.  I think that would really pull in all the flakes in Auckland, Waikato and the BoP.

Managed to sweet talk 15 family members to the game, some who have never been to a football game in their lives to Eden park based on Wellington's wicked crowd and atmosphere last weekend.

C'Mon you Nix... and Jafas!!!

Come on Aucklander's, let's show Australia a decent croud. We did our bit down here and a lot of us are coming up. Time to stand up and be counted and hopefully get to see us spank Perth and get into the top 6.

I'm taking a rugby mad family up with me - yet to buy tickets, but between us its 4 adults and 7 kids, so a good group.

I also know from my footy team in Hammy that about half of us are going with our families, but have not brought tickets. If we win tonight, I expect to see a decent up tick in the rate of buying.

There will be a few fans wanting to make sure the game has meaning and is not a dead rubber.

There was a big-ass digital billboard for the game above the railway line at Kingsland last week. I tried to take a photo but it flicked away too fast.

Domey on Twitter saying PAX is now 15,000.

That means we've sold 6,000 tickets since Sunday. A win tonight, and we might threaten last weekend's record.

Yeah, winning tonight vs WSW will make a massive difference to the crowd. Brisbane beating City means our season is done if we don't beat WSW.

The end of the day, the club and the fans win if Auckland does break it.  Doubt there'll be many complaints. Although, given the size etc ;)

Given how Auckland usually is the record regular season attendance most seasons they really should be beating the 24k this weekend.

Nah.

Nix is a Wellington team.
In other seasons it's 1-2 games only in Auckland, 7 plus at the ROF.
Weather looks iffy.
Could be a dead rubber, whilst last weekend the season was definitely very much still alive.

If it's 20K say at Eden Park, that's 44K of paying patrons over 2 games, and imagine Dome & co will be escatic. Seriously doubt you would have got 44K combined at the ROF over consecutive weekends - esp if the 2nd game had nothing hanging on it.

What will be interesting is how many people are hanging out for the result tonight. A good win tonight and the ticket sales could go bananas. I like rugby league and the warriors but id only go to a warriors game if they were playing well and in contention for play offs and you'd have to imagine thats the bulk of casual football fans especially in Auckland.

Do we really think that there's an army of casuals breathlessly waiting on tonight's result to decide whether they'll go? People who are buying tickets now are the ones who saw that Wellington had a fun time over the weekend, it's a chance to head out, enjoy some atmosphere, and hopefully see the Phoenix win. I doubt that a lot of the casuals in Wellington on Saturday truly appreciated the must win nature of that game.
The weather will be a deciding factor for a good number of people, yes, but at the moment the forecast doesn't look terrible.

Also gotta be some profit in that- 44k over 5-6 games means a lot less in profit. These good crowds gotta help the bank balance.

Does the YF drum go to Eden Park?  That must pull a few thousand percussion aficionadas through the gates on it's own.

Just had this appear when I checked ticketek which means they might be thinking about opening the West Upper and filling in the South Corners.

Says all tickets unavailable so I reckon they're working to sort this out.
