Nathan Burns - A Phoenix again

Transfermarkt.com website has Burns valued at one million Euros (1.66 million NZ dollars).

http://www.transfermarkt.com/nathan-burns/transfer...

Hope the Phoenix at least got close to that amount.

Any transfer fee less than $NZ one million would be disappointing.

Burns is replacing Japan international Yoshinori Muto who has just been signed by Mainz in the Bundesliga:

 http://bundesligafanatic.com/yoshinori-muto-the-ma...

"A fee thought to be worth in the region of about €3 million Euros was agreed for 22-year-old Japanese international who has signed from FC Tokyo."

Described as a forward who likes playing out wide, so Burns will be a direct replacement.

Nathan Burns:

First goal for #fctokyo, although it was a disappointing result finishing 2-1

Burns ranked 44 in "The Top 100 All-Time Greatest A-League Players" Four Four Two Australia magazine August 2017

(The list includes foreign imports such as Del Piero and Yorke)

The magazine has a good bio of each player with a photo.

Phoenix players past and present featuring:

4. Shane Smeltz

6. Carlos Hernandez

9. Marco Rojas

16. Joel Griffiths

20. Danny Vukovic

30. Paul Ifill

39. Fred

44. Nathan Burns

48. Jade North

56. Andrew Durante

62. Michael McGlinchey

67. Gui Finkler

70. Kosta Barbarouses

So, thirteen Phoenix players - 13% of the Top 100

Burns now at Sanfrecce Hiroshima after transferring from FC Tokyo last month:

http://www.westernadvocate.com.au/story/4797564/bu...

3 goals in 26 games for Tokyo over two seasons.

Doesn't seem to be featuring for Hiroshima six weeks after signing.

Not in the squad for yesterday's match in the J-League:

Must be injured?

Hiroshima are second bottom in the J-League in relegation trouble with 24 of 34 games played.

Where did that statue of Burnsy get put. Time to dust that golden oldie down and put it on the steps.

Can he relive his effort. Although it did turn pear shaped after that Asian championship.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Is Burns in injured or what?

He looked happy when Singh scored but really must miss playing and can't be very happy to not even be in the squad when one striker is suspended.

Saw a journo mention he has been struggling with his knee all season.

Rudan said he apparently wasn't well when he signed and has been having issues with his knee (and recently his ankle)

When he had his Johnny Warren winning season here, he barely trained during the week iirc cuz of his knee.

He fell off a cliff halfway through that season as well, if memory serves. Wonder if that was a factor.

We've been overpaying him dreadfully this year.
