Was just checking out the facebook for any news on this one and found this.. looks like all will be revealed game day!

"Congratulations to Shar Jones and Ben W who won second and third place in the design our third strip competiton. Keep an eye out for the adidas 'selection video' coming soon! Below is a selection of the 800 plus designs we received. We will be announcing the winner and the design at our game vs Adelaide United on February 24 so book that game in!"

Im worried about this kit lol some (most) of the submissions i saw on the facebook were terrible. pink, gold, horrible blue/yellow mash-ups etc...

Isn't the whole idea of a 3rd kit is that its different to our 1st and 2nd kits? I went with a red and black design similar to Playwithfire's.

The Adelaide game isn't a colour clash tho, it's just a one off. This won Sydney's competition

Sydney played in this kit on the weekend. Wasn't too bad, silly sponsor ruined it a bit. And socks were light blue instead of white, should have stayed white.

Yeah stupid Sponsor, was worse though on the Heart jersey, nice Black/Charcoal kit had a massive white box for the logo on the back, yet on the goalkeepers kit the sponsor logo was in white with no box, would've looked much better like that on the kit...silliness.
EDIT: Well it took a while to find the pictures to show what I mean, but here you go...would've made the whole kit look nicer.

I had the feeling they hold back the better designs and just show the silly ones. Mine did not shown up, a bit more classy and Nix color sheme.  My little girl's probably made to the web site, hope they don't play in her design, pink with glitter numbers on the back....

Damn, doesn't look like I won then. I hope the winner is at least decent and used traditional Wellington colours.

I doubt we'll like it much, and I'd be stunned if the shirts get a lot of attention on trade me - given the current lack of support from anyone but the YF I'd be suprised if there was a lot of demand for this charity kit.

All you need is 20 people wanting one and the prices will drive up.

Well if 20 people want one but there are only 15 kits, that will create the demand. You're right though, the probably won't raise as much as they did last time. Tbh, I would prefer they did what the Heart did and offer replica's for sale at the Stadium for $100.

So why the angst and "we" won't like it stuff then? What am I missing?

I would assume it is related to the "selection" of designs on the Facebook page, 90% of which were completely horrid, and when first put up were listed as "The best we have received" - I agree, I think people are jumping the gun, but some much angst around here lately it doesn't take much.

Yeah, the so-called 'best designs' were terrible. They were the AT&T of football kits.

yep, and I'm not really angsty about it, just having doubts that this kit will draw as much attention as anticipated.

I think 800+ entries is more attention than Adidas would have hoped for. Good initiative by the club I say!

perhaps I should have used the word "money" instead of attention, 800 entires is great for the sponsor sure, it doesn't translate into $$ for the charity or bums on seats come game day.

If  thats it then its shit, would have thought for a one of strip it would have been something better than basically be our away strip

To be fair, most kits look better when they have a sponsor and logo.. probably should have put the A-League stamping on it too

Congratulations to Andrew Miller - did they spell your name wrong or are we mistaken in who won?

With full respect to you Andrew, I just can't understand why the decision makers would choose a predominantly white strip for a HOME game. At least with the much maligned black chariddy strip, black is one of the Nix basic colours. As above, this would be an awesome away strip, and it's not that I dislike the design in any way. But why choose a strip that has so little yellow? I don't get it :)

On a side note they are covering themselves carefully this year by saying that TWO sets of strips are being made (last year someone kicked up a fuss when they bought one that possibly wasn't match worn?). Why do they make 2 sets? Is it in case one gets damaged during a game or something? Is that common in a match?

Why did they choose the most boring one possible? :/

Bit harsh on Andrew ?
But yea.

Every single other one of the kits (apart from bottom right) in the pick that PWF submitted are better than the one chosen. Eugh.

So plain.

yeah just dull, good on ya Andrew for making the winning entry but seriously why not pick one with red in it, given that's the Life Flight Trust's colour, or go completely mad and piuck something way off the away strip.

Please separate out Andrew himself and the choice for the strip to be used.

This should be our permanent away strip for 2013/14 and 14/15.

It would make a great away strip but I agree it's fairly boring for a one-off. I like all the others in that pic.

Strips are a funny thing though. 99% of new strips are considered sh*t by the vast majority. Apart from our long awaited shift from black to stripes, I can't recall any strip in the world being generally considered awesome, ever.

Didn't mean any offense in saying that it is plain. Fair play to Andrew for winning. I'd be stoked if I did, but it's just rather plain and similar to the away kit to be a 3rd alternative charity kit, in my humble opinion.

It should have been pink or something completely different. IMO. Or should I say in my opinion...

Should have made it red, just to annoy Adelaide.
