One of the commentators mentioned that it was rumoured that dutchman Michael Reizeger may make a geust stint at the Phoenix.

I never heard about that until the commentator said it, anybody know anything else about it?

It's been on Fox Sports for the last week and abit and they talked about it on Total Football, Reizager has expressed interest in the A-league and they said The Phoenix were in talks with him.

Ha, sent him an email on one of the link sites and asked him directly, "are you coming to the Phoenix"

Will update you with his reply, when/if I get it. Watch out Tony, we are on the case

So who has the word on Kristian Rees?  Is he any good?

Decent. Probably on par with O'dor and definatly better than Old.

He was on fire in the VPL so he comes here with good form. Already proven in the A-League. Will be a decent signing to partner Dodd.

It would be brilliant if we could get Reizeger. I know he used to be with Barcelona, no idea who his last club was though.

Middlesbrough and then PSV but ongoing injury problems have seen him released by PSV.

One name that hasn't been mentioned that should is Byrnes.  You are forgiven for the rest because of that.

Pretty sure he can play left as well.

mulligan should probably the most gettable kiwi there and its good that hes out on loan so they might sell him if they dont need him you can toss a coin as to which of the aussies to choose all three are good just depends on what position we need to fill i guess at the moment we have locchead at left bak right? can he play cb or rb?

Would be stoaked with Rees. Apparently he is close to being signed. Would LOVE dave mulligan at the club. Byrnes and Gibson are gettable too. Byrnes is a pretty decent player too! MLS player salaries are publicly released through the players union. Andrew Boyens current deal is worth US$47,500 per year. So that is around $65,000 per year on salary alone. Its pretty interesting seeing what different players are on! http://www.mlsplayers.org/salary_info.html

Ricki is going to sign who he can afford... which isn't much after paying out contracts and so on... don't pin your hope on two huge names here.

Why don't we just sign Spencer Prior then.

He still wants to play or so he says on Foxsports.

Unemployed Footballers By: Daryl | September 7th, 2007

There are plenty of poor starving professional footballers out there, without a club willing to put their skills to use. And it doesnt matter that the transfer window is closed, because the back door is still open for these jobless fellas as unattached (read: unemployed) players can sign for anyone at anytime, provided someone wants them.

Its a little bit like rooting around in the bargain bin at your local supermarket, where everythings a bit out of date but probably still edible and very very cheap. Believe it or not, theres a list of more or less every unattached professional footballer in the world on the internet. A few choice picks below

Didier Agathe, age 32
French right winger or right full back who had a good spell at Celtic under Martin ONeill. His former boss brought him to Villa Park last season, but that didnt go so well. Could do a job for any Championship club, and would also be a good signing for any MLS club in need of a solid right back.

Fabien Barthez, 36
The accident prone but brilliant French keeper has been in and out of retirement more times that Frank Sinatra. Hes out again now, but without a club. Struggled for Nantes in Ligue 1 last season so could be looking for something a little easier. If he doesnt find himself a club soon he may accidentally find himself retired for good.

Quinton Fortune, 30
Former Atletico Madrid and Man Utd left mid and left back. He spent last season at Bolton Wanderers and is now out of work.

Matt Jansen, 29
Jansen was on the fringes of the England squad in 2002 when he was in a motorcycle accident that nearly killed him. He survived but its been a long hard road back to fitness, with spells at Blackburn, Coventry and Bolton. Hes apparently training with his original team Carlisle United in an effort regain form and fitness. If anyone deserves a bit of luck at this point, its Jansen.

Seth Johnson, 28
Former England international left midfielder, albeit briefly. I always felt Johnson was unlucky to be so associated with Leeds Uniteds financial collapse. Apparently he and his agent went to see Peter Ridsdale, hoping for 13,000 a week. Ridsdale opened with Im sorry but I can only offer you thirty thousand a week. Johnsons agent looked shocked at the amount, and so Ridsdale said Alright, thirty-eight thousand then. This story probably isnt true, but it hasnt helped Johnsons career any. More pertinently Johnson injured his knee playing for Derby County at the end of last season and hasnt been offered a new contract yet, though that may change once he regains fitness. But technically another club could sneak in, make an offer and sign him this very day.

Andy Legg, 41
He may be old, but this former Birmingham City Welsh defender is famous for having the longest throw in in football. Surely that must be useful to someone?

Savo Miloević, 34 (pictured)
Serbias all time leading international goalscorer was laughed out of Aston Villa, despite a respectable scoring record of 29 in 90 appearances (thats very nearly one in three folks.) He went on to be more successful (and better loved) in Spain with Zaragoza and Osasuna, but now finds himself without a club. Another one whod do well in MLS without demanding a DP salary.

John OBrien, 30
Talented and versatile American midfielder who spent several seasons with Ajax, but so often injured that he makes Jonathon Woodgate look a picture of health. Most recently with Chivas USA in MLS but only played one game. Theres speculation that hes finished, but if JOB could get healthy hed be a fantastic signing for someone.

Alessandro Pistone, 32
The Italian left back has played for Inter, Newcastle and Everton but is currently without a paycheck. Word is that Pistones been on trial at Middlesbrough and Gareth Southgate is taking his time deciding whether to sign him.

Roque Junior, 31
Former Brazil and AC Milan defender, but another one whose reputation was ruined by his time at Leeds United. Although in RJs case his reputation suffered because he was absolute pants on the field. Has been without a club since his Bayer Leverkusen contract expired in the summer.

David Thompson, 29
Great little English right midfielder whos played for Liverpool, Coventry, Blackburn, Wigan, Portsmouth and Bolton. Used to be a great player to have in your fantasy team. But not now, as hes unemployed.

Hatem Trabelsi, 30
Awesomely pacy and powerful Tunisian right back who spent many productive years at Ajax. But a move to Man City went a bit wrong and he was released in the summer. Amazing that this guy cant find a club though, hes got the lot.

If Terry just sold one of his flash cars he could buy a whole team!

Seriously, didn't realise till I saw "60 Minutes" last night how lucky the Phoenix - and Wellington - is to have a guy like that at the top.

Someone who not only has fun (former nightclub owner), but also a heart (loved his attitude towards his son, his late father, his dead brother and his family) and someone who seems to be in it for the long haul.

Hate to admit it - being a proud JAFA - but I can't think of a single Auckland equivalent to Terry.

If there had been one around a couple of years back, the K****ts would have been ready about now to push for a top 4 spot.
