Are there any reports as to who the NZ based players are that will be training with the Nix? Rumors down south that one of those players being looked at is Garbhan Coughlan.

Surely he's an import...

I was going to say, he's not that good, unless he's "tearing up" the HandyPrem and no-one told me

Get in, will tear up the league.

Surely Tavano would make a lot of sense now - Mexican with a NZ passport, good backup for Davila

Someone gonna take him to Weta Workshop? The last time we had Mexican visitors, they loved that.

Is it a great signing? The guy's started less than 20 games over the last 5 seasons, and hasn't really done anything of note as a player since his time at Cordoba in 2013 in the Spanish Segunda. I mean, no idea how it's going to pan out, but it seems like a pretty big roll of the dice.

Fair point, should have qualified that by saying it has the potential to be a great signing. His career might not have worked out so far but he was the golden boy of Mexican football once upon a time and still has a lot of talent. Youre right though, its a bit of a roll of the dice but given the huge upside if he performs, i reckon it's worth it. Regardless of whether it works out i reckon he will be one of those guys who can do things with a ball no one else can do in the squad, like Roly

Hopefully, he turns out to be a new Fornaroli or Berisha, neither of those two guys had done much before coming to the A-league, but then became superstars of the league.

One other thing that stands out to me when looking at his career is that every time he's moved away from Latin countries, things didn't work out well for him (e.g. his time in the Netherlands and India). And Wellington can be a bit of an acquired taste. At any rate, we'll soon find out how he goes.

"Talay has also opened the door for a handful of New Zealand-based trial players, who will link up with the team when they commence pre-season this week. However, he would not reveal who those players were."

Hopefully Daivd Browne is one of them, great player.

I would be very surprised if we were looking to sign import players from Handy Prem.

Wouldn't be surprised if other import signings fall through last minute (as can happen)

Browne would be the closest but he is an import

Callum McCowatt was probably the closest to those names.

What about Mohamed Awad. Is he a NZer or would he be considered an import.

He's a kiwi

Guess he cant trial because he's playing for Melbourne Knights. But we need some midfielders. He could potentially be a kind of Burgess replacement.

If you like having people punching on and not being up to A-League standard he seems the ideal fit.

Should target players with wives/partners from the Tron.

Alternatively Parkes/Grimsby.

Apparently an Aussie midfielder being announced at 11 AM NZ time.

When Nichols Strikes Back?

Not expecting much; can't think of any decent Aussie midfielder avalaible.

Hopefully someone like Jesse Curran but I'm guessing Joe Calleti (no info, just a random guess)

So it is Cam Devlin from Sydney. Heard Sydney fans rated him in the past but still underwhelming

I guess Talay worked with him last year. So he knows his qualities and what he's getting.

Building a very youthful team.

Direct replacement for Max Burgess perhaps? Who came to us with similar A-League experience.

Surely going to have the youngest squad in the League at this rate.

Not a big fan of signing Aussie youth players, was hoping for an experienced head. We need an influx of experienced players - I saw a stat which directly correlated league position with the age of the team in the A-League; if we go in with all youth we're going to be bottom.

12 signed to senior deals and 5 of them are under 21

Davila is 28 so that'll bump up the average a fraction.

No less, welcome to Wellington Cameron.

I was scrolling through facebook and i saw a headline that said "Yaya Toure's new club revealed" and at that very moment I got the notification for the nix email and all that I could read was "BREAKING NEWS | Wellington sign Y..." Needless to say I got very excited.
