You could see that goal coming as they crossed the half. 2 men free at the back, 4 on 2. Easy money at this level.

Sydney 2 nil

Nix didnt turn up to win this game. Draw was what they went to Sydney for.

Hard to pick a man of the match. I thought McKain ran his ass off and so did Ifill.. Bertos a yard off the last couple of weeks. Sigmund and Durante clicked better this week (Crowther effect WPF????)The rest.......

Why are the Sydney players seemingly so much fitter? Happened against Adelaide too.

Siggy MoM for me. then Ifill tied with Leo - only two who looked likely.

Sydney 2-0, 1st from a corner, Gan cleared to fire a header from a few yards out straight past Crowther.  2nd goal Sydney in clear space after clearing a 'nix corner, taken down the left flank and crossed for an easy header a fair bit further out.

Six to go.

Too much negative tactical playing creates mistakes. Who was suppose to be our Attacking Midfielder?

Diego, Ferrante, McKain = worst midfield in league. IDc what anyone thinks.

Diego - but he was playing on the wing I think which is not where he should be if he's gonna start.

This game was a write off - just look to next week against a poor Adelaide team at home to get us back on track.

NQ is definately worse in that respect.

Just think we still don't have someone to effectively transition from defence to attack in the middle of the park.

I don't think we have the right Midfield combo against Sydney. Back to the drawing board.

Flush the Steven Hansen dunny on this one. I don't think we played badly ala Newcastle Jets, just played flat with an obvious lack of spark/enthusiasm/effort/hustle (pick your word). Jeff Vader2009-08-30 20:51:37

Screw this. Another bloody away from home disappointment.

Even watching with a jumpy internet connection the play looks very erratic with far too much poor long ball. Sydney have kept it on the deck more and have passed well and have run at us more. The exception being Bertos who'll run at everyone. Roll on next week.

Durante long balled a hell of a lot but only because there was absolutely nothing in front of him

Happened a lot last season

Sydney have never lost under this ref, that wasn't the best we have played though, i personally thought crowther didn't do to bad of a job besides the one f**k up which nearly made the substitute keeper look promising.

our passing, possession and general technique was awful all game.

sigmund defended pretty well, bertos and ifill had their moments but not much else. crowther looked shaky, lochead defended ok but just wellied it whenver he got it, muscat just fouled people, midfield was terrible.

OK, so yes, im a touch frustrated

And that's time. Not a lot to take out of the performance, good defence earlier on, but was only held together later on because of the 9-0-1 formation and no posession or territory lead to the inevitable.

Thought that Crowther came back very well after a shocker start. Not suprising he was so nervous - looked wired at times

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the get there the day before warriors style of doing it. Not enough time to climatise to the conditions, I reckon. Not an excuse though, coz we played dreadful.

Generally poor.

Those cones Ricky Useless was pushing around the dressing room had more heart (and skill) crap effort.
You cant win if you dont try.
Inevitable as those w**ker commenators say if you let the forwards camp out so deep.
No midfield still, mind you, only had two and a half years to fix that Ricky

The lack of effort this team shows all too often can only be put down to preperation and a sh*t coach

Yeah this is a puzzling display because for the most part, I think the model is about right

Defence: The back 4 is set and unfortunately, there is nothing for Manny and Lochhead who look the weak links. Sigmund and Durante looked much more in tune this week

Midfield: McKain and Bertos book their spots. You can argue over Daniel, Lia, Ferrante, Hearfield and Diego but if Daniel is a 1 trick pony, Ferrante has been ordinary and Diego has been flat then why did Hearfield get dumped after the first game and Lia not getting a start. Neither player really offer us the vision and creativity from the 2nd central midfield spot. We lack a box to box midfielder with vision.

Attack: Sorted.

What else can Ricki do? He arguably started with his strongest line up (Ferrante for ???) just the players didn't get up for it and bear in mind we had all 3 coaches there so they just didn't get up for it as a whole

Does Crowther keep his spot because we didn't concede early WPF?

Are you serious? It's Sydney, not La Paz.

As for the game? Rubbish. Oh well.

Thought that Lia coming on instead of Daniel for Diego was a clear statement that the intention was to shut up shop and play for the draw.

Oh well - lets just forget this game and look forward to next week.
