Seriously...Losing to a bunch of teenage bogans at home is pretty unacceptable TBH.

Brockie with a chance to level the scores. Just misses.

Full time. Score  1-2 a fair result, sadly.

yeah and that shot really tipify's our goal scoring approach all season - I'm baffled by the fact that we as a team have not created a goal all season, we have lived off 11 Brocki estunners and the rest have been from the opposition team's errors - besides our shoddy defence the lack of goal creation is embarrassing

Only chuckle of the game was the two Jets fans belting out "You're not laughing anymore" after their first goal.

Why do we persist with lumping it into the box? I just don't get it. We have no creativity at all. Hopefully Greenacre sees this as an issue and attempts to do something about it.

Well, they just lost their coach whom they had a really good relationship with. Unlike some, I am not surprised that they didn't suddenly burst forth as a bad-ass team, liberated from the shackles of Poached Fish Hoofball.

Ricki was not the only problem.

After that shambles i hope News and the lads are telling Gallop at the fan forum to give us some funds for a couple players. But as its at the Grand in typical fever fashion they are probably just chugging them down.

Anyway its all bloody Frankies fault they some how let him land in Wellington.

While I am glad Ricki has gone, a good number of players should be taking a good look at themselves and be feeling just a bit guilty tonight.

Absolutely dire performance tonight.  As others have said, the lack of creativity is just shocking considering some of the players that are there.  However, when players do not move, it is no surprise we don't score more often.  Hernandez will struggle to create anything next season if forwards / midfielders / fullbacks do not make any runs into space, EVER.  They just stand still or walk around waiting on the ball.

I see we're also now doing this standing still routine at the other end too now - evidence being both Newcastle goals tonight.  Defenders caught on their heels, ball watching while the opposition attack the ball.

How bad was Lia tonight, again?  3 times he launched the ball out of the park attempting to pass in the first half.  Ifill also couldn't do a thing right.

Positives were Brockie (came onto a game after a poor first half) and Boyd looked decent when he came on.  Other than that, not much to get excited about other than another dickhead of a referee.

But weren't they playing crap because Ricki had lost the dressing room and they didn't want to play for him?  So they should have shown up right?  Just like the 1000's of fans that weren't attending coz Ricki was the coach?

Bang on.  Similar to a lot of the goals we have conceded.  Defenders and midfielders standing still like statues watching attackers run onto the ball to score.

0/144.

All some of could do was laugh at one corner when we had about 5/6 players in the 6 yard box and no one running in.Talk about FKN schoolboy stuff.

Sorry thats abloody insult to school boys they would have more bloody sense.

Our guys are so bloody static its just ridiculous.

I sure hope i dont hear any quotes from any of the players about passion because tonite there just wasnt any.All i want to see is a Phoenix team play with some balls and show us that they want to be here. Was also really obvious that there was buggar all talk going on out there.

Was that the ridiculous one where we had about 5 players at the front post and then Ifill knocked into the keepers hands easily yet again?  Absolutely terrible.  I insist that the new coach has 'CORNERS' on his CV!

Sigh!...what can you say really?  Same old mistakes. Watching this team try and construct an attack is like having a root canal at the dentist...at least the dentist gives you better anesthetics. Beer doesn't work.

I just hope the season finishes real fast. If Greenie can't get them motivated then I fear for whats going to happen away to teams like the Wanderers.

I guess there could have been  some prospective Nix coaches who might have watched this game. They probably realise how much work is required. This team needs to be totally disassembled and then carefully put back together again with many new parts....if it was a car it would be off to the wreckers already.

Don't really like to bag Greenie but normally if you are two goals down at half time and SFA has happened in the first 10 minutes of the second half you really need to get some more attackers on and hook off a few non performers....like Lia. Boyd for Fenton changes nothing....Sanchez for Lia only changes things a little and ditto Stein for Ifill. We finished the game just like we started it...4 attackers, 2 midfielders. But again you can't really blame a guy who has had the job dumped in his lap only a a day or two ago.

On a more positive note what great weather in Wellington...its like living in Brisbane... without the flies and mossies and snakes and humidity and rednecks.

Winners are grinners. 10,000 only for Hurricanes pathetic opening to Super R. This market is just sick of mediocrity. We just want to be in contention for #1 in some Aust/NZ comp. I like my rugby too. But am I gonna watch that Hurricanes crap. No way. John Kosmina is probably not interested, but needs someone like him with the total passion to get the dramatic change we need. Not Greeny's fault tonight.

Best  performance tonight was the guy who won the competition at half time and promptly stuck $500 on the Jets.

It also comes to something when Lochead is one of our best players on the night.

If it hadnt have been for Moss and piss poor Jets finishing, that would have been the 5 goal defeat we deserved.

We dont look look like a professional side at all. This is getting like watching Bradford v Swansea every week.

Losing, we wait till 60 mins have gone to make our 'impact' sub - Boyd- who doesnt touch the ball for 20 mins. Then gives it away twice when he does get it.

Still losing (and you get zero points for a loss in case anyone has forgotten), we bring on a striker with 10 mins to go. He gets two touches, both of which were good ones.

Did anyone notice any urgency to try and get an equaliser?  Pushing someone forward, maybe even the goalie coming up for corners? No we continue with the dreary approach until the inevitable loss occurs. What are we scared off, it couldnt be any worse.

To say that I think that was toilet is an understatement.

Quote of the day for me was when Paul Ifill was starting his warm down after being subbed. A guy up in Aisle 12 yelled out "You need to have done some exercise for you to do a warm down". Which was funny. The one time he ran his arse off and he got booked for a sloppy tackle. Shame as he did really well to catch up to the guy.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I didn't see a lack of effort as many apparently did, just the usual tactical ineptitude, lack of imagination and poor execution.

Looked to me like the players were genuinely trying to make a decent fist of Greenie's first match in charge, but there are so many problems all over the park (and perhaps off it) that they can't be fixed now.

I will be satisfied if they can get through to the end of the season and show a bit of pride in their individual and team performances.

Your not the only one who dosnt understand it,im guessing the coaches dont have much idea how best to use him either. For me it has been one of the real disapointments of the season, given the way he started something seems to be badly amiss.

But then again thats the way the season has gone really.Still cant get my head around leaving the stadium after that first game against the bling and everybody was positive saying if this is the way we start then things  look promising for the rest of the season.

Sadly apart from the odd blimp that has been mostly it.Have had the feeling for much of the season that the guys hearts havnt really been in it despite some of their talk.It just hasnt had the feel that other seasons have had.
