McKains midfield partner from the Jets game, Tim Brown, could miss Sundays match. The New Zealand international has a groin strain and a final decision on his selection will be made after the captains run on the eve of the Perth game.
Phoenix head coach Ricki Herbert said Brazilian creative midfielder Diego was a near-certainty to start against Perth, indicative of the Phoenixs attacking mindset.
Haha. I like it.

You don't get it? It's Ricki's way of saying Brown will/may not be playing but I haven't dropped him.

On goal article about McKain.
McKain
Hearfield Bertos
Diego
Awesome. Cant wait
Also I thought it was great to see Siggy and Greenacre get on the scoresheet in the firt game. How many games did it take last year before anyone other than Smeltz scored?
I think Lochhead needs some serious competition for his LB role. And I think switching Muscat over there for a game or two could work to get Lochhead going. Then put Lia, Durante even at RB ?
That is Brown's best attribute imo - the thing he brings to the team that probably makes Ricki think twice about dropping him. He popped up with a few important goals last season and not many of our players do that. I remember him and McKain playing like demons against Melbourne (I think) and us completely shutting down their midfield as well - too bad it didn't happen against Newcastle last week.
I thought Brown was poor last week, but don't think he was the main problem.

Srhoj is the Serbo-Croat spelling. The pronunciation is more or less Sir'hoy but you wouldn't know it by listening to the A-league commentaries.

Agreed on that. Last season we were crap at the start.....and Brown was out injured. When he finally came back in and we moved McCain to CM the two of them put some mongrel back into our midfield. His return sparked a good patch of results. You need someone like Brown in the A-league....otherwise you just get outbullied. Plus he bangs in the occassional goal;
Trouble is having him and McCain somewhat limit the midfield creativity.....I,m pleased Im not the coach and having to make these decisions
Looks like Diego is in and Brown out against Perth. Weather forcast is for lots of rain. Sure hope we play to the conditions. Wasnt it last year we we played a long ball game in the first game in the dry and then home in the wet we tried to play a short passing game and got dicked.
If its wet and slippery Brown would be the first player I;d select.
Not a bad idea in all honesty. Bit Gutted if they drop Hearfield. But this could be pretty dangerous if we've got Bertos and Ifill hitting it hard up the flanks.
Ferrante will have to defend well. But this could be a winning formation for us. If Bertos and Ifill hussle back on Defense then this could be a great formation

He wasn't the only one that was poor though, sure he was missing most of the game, but he was one one about 5 guys who weren't up to speed.
If he doesn't play this week, mckain had bette step up and lock the midfield up, and learn how to pass the ball accurately.
Queenslander 3x a year.

Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Yeah, but you always say that

Had a couple of cracks but defending was average. No worse than others though

I've got a feeling they will put Daniel on the bench again and leave Costa again. Would like maybe Hearfield, Costa and Lia with all given time although I don't know what could happen.
So who is Ferrante? Xavi?

Ferrante is more like Beckham if you want to compare to anyone good.
[QUOTE=Oska]Crowther
Daniel would be in before Costa.
