I went back to bed at about 6 in the morning, woke my wife up and told her that the phoenix had won 6-0. All she said was "my god Thommo will be pissed" and then went back to sleep.

I don't really know what to say. Enough has been said in 30-odd pages in this post and everything's been positive. When you win 6-0 it's gotta be this way. Last night as I stumbled home I decided to catch a cab and this very old and wise Somalian driver told me: "6-0 is not a good game, but it is a good win". I almost puked in his cab so I decided to focus my eyes on his review mirror and nod in agreement. But he wasn't that wrong! GC didn't do anything at all. It was one way traffic for the whole 90'. Thank God, Rees didn't score so I didn't have to kiss a chick (there was hardly any around me).
Thanks Phoenix for such a great performance, some of you i.e. Daniel, Greenacre especially deserved it, they've been putting in the hard work and haven't harvested as much as they should have until this game. But awesome stuff and big ups to everyone involved.
One more thing I wanna say is THE FEVER ZONE SHOULD BE THIS WAY ALWAYS. Some weeks we sing a bit, then after kick off comes this deafening silence: it shouldn't be this way. If we're fired up, the players are fired up! I think that yesterday with the whole Smeltz/GCU being the new bling thing we felt compelled to do more..and in my opinion this should happen every week. Every team that comes here, be it NQF, Perth or GCU, they should all think:"wow the Phoenix are being backed big time, and we're being told that we're sh*t big time"...confusion in their heads you see!

What a win that was. I flew down for the weekend from Auckland and the atmosphere was as good as ever despite the drop in crowd numbers. Hopefully this will bring a few people back!

While I thought Chen tried hard and ran for everything when he came on did anyone see his dummy spit when we scored the 6th? Wouldn't come and celebrate with the boys and it took Siggy to give him a bit of a rark up to get him to come over, though still reluctantly. Im glad he is passionate but needs to be more of a team man from the look of things.
But really what can be said about yesterday that hasn't been said already! An amazing performance, Ifill is the best player in the league at the moment maybe Hernandez aside. I thought Vinny Lia was immense in the 1st half and it was that platform which set the scene for that unbelievable blitz in the 2nd.
My only grizzle isn't at the team but at the club, this was Lochys 50th game he is the first player to do that having played all his games for the Nix and it is not menitoned. It wouldn't have worked to led the team out but I would have thought a presentation at the end of the game or even just a tribute on the big screen at half time? I seem to remember in Season 1 Ross played his 50th game and they gave him a presentation before the match.

That game will live in my memory for a long long time....I was there, Phoenix 6...GC 0. Love it.
I really like the way the team seems such a tight bunch. The huddle before kickoff. The way they still urged each other on in the last 10minutes NOT to let in a goal. The clean sheet was a badge of pride for the team. Now conceded only 1 goal in the last 4 games!!!!
They were getting lots of flack for all the draws but they kept saying keep the faith....it will come together.
Other positives...how long is it since we have lost a game at the ROF? It truely is turning into a fortress. Teams are gonna hate coming here. If we can tear the ass out of the leagues leading team...bring it on!!!!
The new goal points difference will be important if there is a tight finish for the playoffs.

Words cannot even describe how glad I am that I made the trip down for this one.
I'm picturing the big grin that will cross my face moments before I answer the question 'where were you when we put 6 past gcu?' with a resounding. I was there and loving it.
Side note, that's four wins in a row for Phoenix games I've made the trip for, see you all on the 4th! Surely we'll put ten past the planes.

Well well well, what can I say? AMAZING game. 6-0 v Gold Coast, unbelievable really. That yesterday was how to dominate a game. Gold Coast were absolutely TERRIBLE! We should have pumped them about 3-0 over there so this was vindication for that result.
We better keep it up! Win these next 2 home games and I might even crack a smile 
Have to say though, I thought Ricki got a bit defensive at 5-0, it really should have been 10-0 yesterday so I'm not happy in that regard...
Hopefully some fans come back after that. Cracking night out afterwards too...bit of a hangover today but definitely worth it!
