Worst theory I have heard for a while, look like a fool so someone else doesnt ??

Disappointing to hear another NZ company got shafted, I hope someone gets Ali good and proper

Ali Syed anagram = lies day    -  says it all

With Doloras here. Terry has gone all the way down the track publicly backing Ali Syed and WGA consistently. Ali Syed and WGA have NO excuse for not coming through with the money for Terry, unlike several of the other applicants who have turned against him and are now litigating and looking to shut him down.
Perfect opportunity right here for WGA to get some glowing press by delivering on Terry's loan ...and Terry to come up smelling like roses....??

Ignoring for a fact that Ali is a fraud whose accounts have been frozen in 2 countries - he has a million reasons not to come through with the loan to Terry.  I don't know if you have been reading he papers but Terry has:

- has twice been attempted to be put into bankruptcy

- disposed of $50m or $60m of property

- basically being chased all over town by every lender who has money out the door to him

If you were looking at this as a normal situation as a potential Lender Terry's financial situation is changing so quickly that you wouldn't want to lend until the whole thing settled down.  If you wanted an excuse then that is it right there.

The loan won't happen for the reasons stated throughout this thread.  Guys, let's stop with the crackpot theories - this is just so far fetched.  WGA is just not going to happen

Fully aware of the above..
but what's normal in this situation JD?!!
The lender is being frozen out, harried and hunted down globally...the borrower pretty much the same here at home. Given the extreme SNAFU that exists it wouldn't surprise me, given Terry's consistent support for WGA, if a loan,
( if not the original $100 million asked for) came through from WGA..if it hasn't already.

I can't believe there are actual people on here still discussing the viability of the so-called loan and wether Terry looks better or worse for constantly believing in fairy dust.

Ali Syed is a grifter;a conman; a scamster - and it was obvious to most of us sensible people before Terry even made that first trip. Terry's constant defending and belief in him made him look much like that stupid ex-govt worker currently in a  sth amercian prison for trusting & loving a stranger on the internet.

there are NO weapons of mass destruction and every country but one knew that - they now look stupid. much like poor hopeful Terry

Well, I wouldn't start talking about "sensible people", because the implication is that Terry is an idiot for falling for the WGA scam. But he's not the only one. He's not even the only one in New Zealand, as Mr McNabb could tell you.

Maybe not such much an idiot as a desperate man.

but he's the one who fell for a scam when other were already very vocally pointing out they'd been ripped off

if i went ahead and bought a car off a dealer i'd already knew many people had complained about selling dodgy vehicles that broke down - then i'd be an idiot

So tpmyhill, I know you are sworn to secrecy and the rest of your Freemasons Lodge will give you a good rogering if you name names, but surely you can confirm whether your mystery buyer with "a clean image and great cashflow" is on the NBR rich-list?

Yep. Not like that really helps you seen as there were about 50 names on the list and you would probably need to be to own a football club (although in saying that, i didnt see terrys name on it....)

There is a reason the 50 names are on that list - they don't spend 1 million plus on a football team, this person may be saying "yes I'm interested" but until he/she/they show their money I'm not buying it

I think it's great if there is someone out there, but until they reveal themselves believing in them is almost as tragically hopeful as believing in WGA.

Sorry ..I don't buy it, Stealthkiwi, and again Doloras I agree.
Stealthkiwi, JD and all the others may be right in thinking that Terry looks stupid backing WGA.
But come on people!!
Do you think he accidently stumbled over his (formerly) $100 million + property fortune? Did it fall from the sky at his feet??
He amassed his businesses by hard work, graft, wheeling and dealing and being very shrewd with his money. (Not everyone agrees where "shrewd" finishes ..that's another story.)
Rather than jumping to the conclusion
"Terry backs WGA and Ali Syed therefore Terry must be stupid"
ask yourself " Why would Terry publicly back them?"

The rich list is a joke as it does not for some stupid reason incorporate recent migrants. Some of those are more likely to invest in the Phoenix then the rugby heads on the list

Actually, there are 150 names on the NBR rich-list, so here's the Wellington rich list. Can you confirm whether your mystery buyer is on this list?

Todd family, $2.7b
Sir Peter Jackson, $560m
Sir Robert Jones, $400m
Sam Morgan, $305m
Sir Ron Brierley, $170m
John Holdsworth, $150m
Steve Outtrim, $110m
Lloyd Morrison, $100m
Roy Savage, $85m
Nightingale family, $75m
Rod Drury, $72m
Neville Jordan, $60m

Does any future owner (if Terry can't remain ) have to be kiwi?

A reasonably well run A league club must generate a little interest across the ditch.

(probably been mentioned already...50 pages long...though...)

Serepisos ordered to pay over $2 million
Colin Williscroft | Monday August 01, 2011

Wellington property developer Terry Serepisos has been ordered to pay the solicitor nominee company of Waipukurau law firm Davidson, Armstrong and Campbell more than $2 million.

In the Wellington High Court this morning Associate Judge David Gendall granted the company's summary judgment application against Mr Serepisos of $2,023,170.05c plus costs of $2,436.90c.

He made a further order against Mr Serepisos of penalty interest at a rate of 16%, which amounted to $764.05c a day.

The application was first heard by Associate Judge Gendall on July 18, when Mr Serepisos' lawyer, Chris Chapman, said it would not be opposed.

Neither Mr Chapman nor Mr Serepisos appeared in court today.

Earlier, there was better news for the embattled businessman.

Liquidation proceedings brought by Tyco NZ against his company Century City Courtenay were discontinued after the debt in question was settled.

Now that the US Congress has some extra time on their hands maybe they could get to work on Terry's debt crisis. Roughly the same amount of money seems to be involved.

Maybe the high Kiwi dollar will help for Terry to get refinancing overseas (note: not from a dodgy Indian fellow in Bahrain).
