Interesting what each major news site considers important. Stuff (on a vendetta?) have breaking news of Seripisos' bailout.
Herald breaking news.. "NZ inflation up 4.5pc in year to March"
Thanks for keeping the perspective NZ Herald.

Terry: "Fork over the money, Bill, I got pictures of you."
Bill: "You don't scare me! That could be any sheep's arse!"

Terry: "Fine. Then answer me this.. what about the CCTV footage of you running naked from Darren Hughes' house"goldienz2011-04-18 11:00:55

Look, if I were naked, I'd run away from Darren Hughes' house. No, not because I'd be in any danger from Darren, but he was flatting with Annette King.

Sounds like Matt was not expecting this outcome. Actually, neither was I - I still want to know where the money's coming from. Out of curiosity, you understand - not a "looking a gift horse in the mouth" way.Doloras2011-04-18 11:08:11

You guys all say you love Terry but constantly questioned whether or not he would front with the cash, even though Terry himself has maintained that hes not going anywhere, and that hes poured his soul into the Nix. Shame on you all!
Ive never been worried. If Terry says it'l be ok, then it will be.

I think everyone here unquestionable wants the best for the nix, yet some have genuine concerns about the continued viability of the club under Terry, for instance, in the terms of damage the nix has suffered about being able to negotiate corporate sponsorships, and to move the business, and hence the club forward.
Don't think that means people wish ill of terry, we're just not sure if Terry holding on with gritted teeth is good for the club in the near future versus a new owner appearing after bankruptcy.
The Nix is worth funding now, but 12 months down the line where the clubs money is still tight, players have left, and crowds are down?*
*here's hoping that doesn't happen

However, on the other hand.
Better the owner you have than an imaginary and potentially non-existent one in October.
That's the risk, innit. But a year down the line, a new owner for a less viable looking business might be harder to find.
If this 4m is self-funded through an asset sale, i'm more worried not less.

What are you on about, News, several posters here have repeatedly reassured us that dozen of open-chequebooked millionaires are just panting to take over the Nix, hire Champions League players, pack out the RoF every game etc etc, just as soon as that dodgy Greek is out of the picture...

I hate to sound smug but...
Terry's M.O. has always been to not hand-over a cent until he absolutely has to. And even then he'll hand over the bare minimum he can get away with.
Based on the Judge's comments last time I doubt the court will give him another extension. More likely is that Terry has scraped together enough cash in the meantime (and a plan for the rest) to get the IRD to withdraw the liquidation proceedings themselves.
Then we can stagger along like this for a few months more. Yippee!

Oh dear, what if the $4 million comes from NZF? Whose head would explode the quickest? (Not that I think NZF has $4 million, unless Steve Cain's managed to monetize his career as an adult model.)

I am pleased for Terry that he has avoided having his companies put into liquidation but there still remains the question.....does he have the cash flow to keep the Nix up and running in a proper commercial way?
He did say it costs him $400,000 a month to run the club. The season does not start until October so there will be not much revenue until season tickets are sold in winter. There will be player and staff wages plus the IRD will nail his arse if he gets even 1 hour late paying PAYE etc.
Still, at least its a bit of the devil you know sort of situation. The club is still alive and we don't have the angst of a Seripisos collapse and then the uncertaincy of possible new unknow buyers. You have to hand it to Terry....he is a fighter. I wish him well but there is still possibly more to come in this saga.

He said that the annual expenditure was $5m , not that it cost him 400k per month.
If the FFA have any sense, then tv rights payments will occur regularly over the 12 month window, although yes, retail & matchday revenue obviously only happens during the regular season.

And of course we have to get more fans through the gates. Next season we should all try and bring along someone extra.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Good that Terry Serepisos has got a short reprieve to prove to the Court that he has fulfiilled the obligations as demanded by claimants. No sign of the $140 million loan from WGA then. That guy from WGA is a ponzi scammer then! WP needs to recruit and sell more season passes from now on! Otherwise, this saga will drag on and on and on and on....

The money does not arrive Racing
While no one doubts the professionalism of the players of Racing, it seems that the economic situation we are experiencing some players in the squad who have not been on the payroll of last season is affecting performance. At the end of the football players are people and, although privileged, will also affect this type of mishaps.
The continual unfulfilled promises from the club's owner, Syed Ali Ahsan, the Indian may be filling the patience of some of the heavyweights of the costumes and, despite himself, so move the rest of their peers and in recent days does not seem Racing the same.
This week, to try to defuse the situation, President of Racing, Francisco Pernia, training the computer came with a document certifying that the transfer involves the payment of payroll was done and it was only a matter of time arrived money. The deadline is next Tuesday and is to see how players react if they cheat again.

So the money ($4 million) has already arrived and is in his lawyer's trust account.
Just the little matter of pushing it over to IRD.
And the IRD are asking that it is "non recoverable", i.e. no other claim on it is higher than theirs.
Now, we look to the future....

Well, I want to know where the $4 million came from. It could be the first installment of the WGA loan. Or a payoff from Ali not to send the Greek Mafi after him.

Can just imagine Nippert waving a fist in the air and shouting "Damn you, Serepisos. You may have won this round but I'll destroy you. By God I will"
Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Woohoo! We live to fight another day.
Agreed- fantastic that the Nix is alive...for the moment. I think there is still a fair amount that needs to be sorted with Terry's entire operation before we can confidently say that the Phoenix are in the clear and can move forward as a succesfully operating club.
But hats off to Terry!
