Seems some clubs have found a gullible news outlet to help boost the exposure/credentials of their expansion bid.

“They’re not even in our confederation”

That argument annoys me every time. We are only not in their confederation because they left our confederation. Part of them leaving Oceania was that they would continue to support football here after they were gone. These people have short memories.

So the Covert Agent report has some legs does it?  If there is any truth in this whole thing, I'm sure we all agree its a fudgeed up idea. Would anyone here continue to support the Nix in such a scenario?

Again, if there is even a little truth in the report that the owners are talking about ownership share with another Aussie club - what does that say about their often stated [and echoed by Nix sycophants] they are only interested in keeping a club in/for Wellington.....?

IMHO - The A-League owners are meeting to discuss the future of Team's, The League Future, Ownership models, and much more.

But this will relate to wrestling the control of the A-League from the FFA so more money is retained with in the league to grow it.

(Billionaires becoming Millionaires under FFA money retention.)

You're taking a hypothetical which is being perpetrated by Australian media and denied by NZ media with no statements from any of the actual parties who are supposed to be involved and then say how does that reflect on WelNix or the fanbase?

The answer is it doesn't reflect at all because it's just a game of he said and she said with no actual evidence. If it's true it means that WelNix has changed their minds, and you can't really blame them and I doubt anyone on here who support this team would care about your gloating.

I am not sure who is managing the 'Nix's social media platforms, but they, @WgtnPhoenixFC (official twitter account), did like Cam's reply "No they haven't." to the ALeague Confidential tweet which said the owners were in urgent sales talks.

Could it be that the Phoenix are looking for partnerships to field W-League and NYL teams ?

Well, this rumour has been repeated in the Sydney Herald Sun, which is beginning to make me feel uncomfortable

The fact they are stating that there would be a split in home games between the two locations is the only thing that is keeping me from running around the house panicking because literally no one can think that is a good idea that will get support in either location.  The concerning thing for me though was the Phoenix 'no comment' comment at the end of the story.  It really is something that could have been squashed with a straight no if it wasn't the partial truth at least.

Hell that's a terrible idea. If they want to sell then do it but don't try and keep the fan base by doing something like that.

The way the NYL has turned out, I think what we have here is better (wee Nix and Wgtn Utd).

If what I've been told is proven wrong why would that be embarrassing?

Still, I trust Piney and the Phoenix more than the Australian media with their track record in reguards to the Phoenix.

Was it last season or two seasons ago that they almost had a W-League team across the line with Canbera?

Or they could literally just be helping expansion teams with their bids, to help make sure the league they own a team in reamins strong.

Could be anything or nothing.

as always it could be anything, if the club would make some kind of statement denying they are selling then it would kill all the speculation and make anyone who was supporting it look like the fools they are (I hope). As has been the case this season, the club's silence is embarrassing.

No the sponsorship by Singapore Airlines and their direct flights to Canberra were the driving factor. Or thats what we were told at the time.

Do you honestly think that if Welnix came out right now and said "we are not selling, this is a furphy spread anonymously on a blog and taken up by gullible Aussie journos", they would be believed? Would, for example, NP eat his words, or would he be all like "WE SHALL SEE, IT STILL LOOKS FISHY, TAKE OFF YOUR ROSE TINTED GLASSES"?

The question about lies and gossip is always whether denying them would just give them more oxygen.

It won't even be "it looks fishy" it will be "of course they're going to say that."

It's the same way that you know when a board comes out unanomously supporting a coach that they're about to lose their job.

Perth Glory CEO Filopoulos to depart   Simple Headline.

Hidden in the body:

"Sage says he has pumped more than $26 million into Glory over the past 12 years, and he is keen to attract some foreign investment so the club can start spending the full amount of the allowed salary cap".

But if NIX headline would be like.

"CEO jumps ship as Nix owners looks to bail out"

I know the common view here is that this is completely untrue yada yada, and it probably is.

However, articles like this making their way in to the herald and radio sport etc do turn off the general NZ public from the Phoenix brand. It’s the general public that needs to be encouraged to turn up on game day - not told the club is looking to fold early.

I suspect that is the motivation behind the original article(s) - one or more of the potential expansion clubs and/or Fox Sports Australia and/or the FFA trying to do what they can to weaken the Phoenix's image going forward to try to increase the chance that the metrics won't be met, or that the owners really will lose heart.

TBF people on here are the committed supporters of the Phoenix, and the prevailing attitude here is that the club sucks at basic communication.

The general public don't really know/care about the Phoenix, probably because the club sucks at basic communication.

The club as an organisation is taking an immense battering - some of it because the results have been shark, some of it because the organisation has been shark, some of it because the communication has been shark and some of it because loads of Aussie cods think their league should be all-Australian - despite the whole A League being a fundamentally flawed competition from top to wooden spoon.

Bozza is the greatest idiot! His comment says more about Wollongong than Wellington, obviously we are doing our job right, more than 10 years in the A-League, with financial stable investors and and a lot of  potential. And his to stupid to know that it is not one or the other. He is bully with pipe dreams. Look at the viewers and crowds, those are his metrics, he is just deflecting from his own shark.

So some here think that silence is golden?

How can you say that with a straight face?

It's a bit like hearing a rumour that your girlfriend has been fudgeing around and potentially has given you a std

Do you want to hear from her mouth it is bull shark? Of course you do

But she won't tell you, so what do you think?
