I have a away game on my bucket list but wife and kids come first.
This for me.

No worries, yeah I'm keen as to actually attend a Nix game in Australia too sometime but hard when only on one income.
He sounds positive, but then previously he's said that all that needs to happen for the license extension is to dot the i's and cross the t's and we learnt that that wasn't the case.
@Mainland FC - the FFA don't loose money through the sky deal, sky pays them for the coverage.
the FFA wanting the nix to charter flights to get more travelling fans is hilarious.
should have told them that this isn't possible, but with a little sponsorship the bridge is the viable option
also Gold Coast had charter flights IIRC. How did that go for them?
I liked how Dome said For the offset payment to the FFA. He did speak about the current SKT TV deal but says "Whoever the TV rights holder is" When the new deal is done. I smell Coliseum Sports Media plus they just sign up Hyundi and Samsung as new sponcors for the sports channel.
Mr Positive
all this talk of putting wives and children ahead of away trips is the reason the Nix were in trouble in the first place.
Hang your heads in shame.
All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Hang on a second. I just have to ask her indoors if its ok for my head to hang in shame...

The amount of scaremongering from organisations we should respect and have confidence in has dented my enthusiasm greatly towards the A-League. I'm having trouble caring about results or watching games as I have in previous years. Hopefully when the drama passes I will regain my love of the Phoenix and the A-League in general.
Light box sports is a partnership between coliseum and spark.
the way I imagine the tv rights going is nix negotiating with possible parties (Sky, lightbox, FTA - perhaps some of them combined as I mentioned above) then tabling each of those bids as part of their licence request for the FFA to choose which they prefer. Explains why Domey said "whoever the rights holder ends up being"

Thanks Ryan - but isn't the issue for FFA that they've negotiated a stupidly low price deal with SKY, and which is why they tried to throw the baby out with the water? ( = get rid of us, and the SKYTV deal, at the same time).
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
Yep, it's to low for the nix, but is it too low for the market?
Anyway sky pays between 300-900k depending on who you talk to. That is still money that the ffa is getting paid. Ausy rules on the other hand pays to be broadcasted in nz.

That's because Aussie rules are trying to make their brand valuable in NZ so they can rake some sweet coin in the future.
On the flip side the question is will fox pay more than sky does now for 10 aussie teams.
So they might not get 500k, but they might get 2m more. One would think the FFA has discussed it with Fox. Though based on how they act I'm guessing they are assuming that to be the case with no facts.
I understand why ausy rules is doing it, and it's a worthwhile strategy. The first statement was that the a league looses money on sky which is not true, they may loose on the opportunity cost but we don't know that. The question is how much are the nix worth to sky? The answer is probably not enough.

At around or just after 25 minutes is the interview with Mike Charlesworth talking to fans … until just over the hour point its talk about the Mariners and just after 1:04 he talks about the need in his opinion for a separate A-League management to take over from FFA…. He also talks about marquees.. and some new players we may get..
Sharing in case in some ways what we are doing to keep the wolf from the door is of any help to the Nix...

Melbourne should not be far behind for Derbies. Long before Melbourne Heart came on the scene, FFA wanted a team based in Geelong due to distance from the traditional MV support base. No reason why that idea could not be revisited by FFA, what with a new plan to have the Geelong stadium promoted to a serious football venue (commented on elswehere in this forum).

Sources: A number of Phoenix players will renew contracts when license is announced - which is expected shortly.
— Simon Hampton (@SimonHampton9) January 11, 2016
David Davutovic just confirmed in his Fox Sports "Studs up" fan chat section that he understands we are very close to a new license.
But FFA are showing a willingness to negotiate and it now seems that they really want to make a deal happen, which is very promising.

The Wellington Phoenix are set to be granted a 10-year A-League licence extension.
It's understood that the Welnix group, who hold the club's licence, have come to an agreement with Football Federation Australia (FFA) that would see the Phoenix afforded the tenure they're after.
There would be various strings attached, which dictate that the club have to continue meeting various agreed marks. Failure to do so would result in a swift review of their A-League status.
But the fact Welnix have secured a 10-year term is a substantial victory on their behalf. The FFA had previously offered them just four years, amid talk that the Phoenix's licence could be transferred to a new Sydney franchise as soon as the end of this season.
Confirmation of the 10-year extension is said to be imminent. Friday was talked about as the day, with FFA chief executive David Gallop reportedly booked to fly to Wellington to join Welnix chairman Rob Morrison in confirming the news.
But that's been put back a week or two. Not because there are still details being haggled over, but due to all the relevant parties having the required gaps in their schedules to hold a joint press conference.
"
Happy with finally getting the license but this line bugs me. Along with not having home FFA Cup games, we continue being 2nd class citizens in the competition. Sure I'm happy we are still in it but if should be fair for all.

I have to say that with all the muck that has floated around since October, I am still in the believe it when I see it signed and sealed camp.
But I do remain optimistic
