Well, this thread has well and truely been shat on...
"The Wellington Phoenix was Huawei’s first major football partnership, and since signing on with the Phoenix, Huawei’s stable has grown to include such iconic clubs as Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico de Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, and Benfica. This year Huawei announced Lionel Messi as a Global Brand Ambassador."
Pretty good company to be ! Thank you Huawei

almost as bad as the 3way handshake.
While we know John Key would be at the opening of an envelope in NZ if it gave a photo opportunity, it is a big deal in China to have "backing" from a high ranking politician.
It should also be remembered he is still the most popular PM NZ has had, and remains so by quite some margin, so despite what some are saying in here, this is not a bad thing for the club domestically, even putting aside the apparent increased deal
I've spent most of the day wondering what New Zealand would be like if it was run by the 'Nix Nine- Rob was PM, Gareth Morgan was Minister of ... and so on.... (yes, I've got no idea who the rest of them are, and I guess they probably like it that way...)
If the PM can do football, then WelNix should be able to run the country no sweat
Does this mean if we sign a chinese player and like the previous two, they fail, can we send them back and they will be shot u der the extradiction clause?
A caption for that picture could be "Playing with the Boys". Check ya top gun soundtrack for that one!
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

I was actually making a recursive joke about my self by posting #irony because I'm one for going on long off topic tangents. So it was #irony x 2.

Good to such a large company sticking with the Nix, those the Labour voters here won't be happy it is a Chinese company I assume.

Labour which signed the free trade deal with China which gave us a large first mover advantage we've now squandered or at least lost as other countries have jumped ahead of us?
All those voters who have been bitching hard (ir not at all) about Huawei the whole time they've been sponsoring us, running events, match day promos and so on?
jog on
So back on topic, the rumor is that the Huawei deal is in the range of 2 million, which compared to the front of shirt sponsorship deal of 800k that the roar had when they were the dominant team in the comp is pretty good.
Is that the difference between loosing money and break even? Or are the nix going to invest it into the playing squad?

Even if that figure is correct, $2million doesn't necessarily mean $2million in cash.

People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.
That's why I said it was a rumor. I have no idea about how reliable this site or author is, people on another forum seem to be taking it as given though.
It seems high, but then Dome has said a few times that the previous deal was the highest in the A-League and it seems like this is higher still so might not be outside of the realms of possibility.

And if they sell them all on TradeMe they might be able to get 1.7 million cash.
good $. Miles above any other offer they could have got I would think

So what does that cash go into given that it's a salary-capped league?

So what does that cash go into given that it's a salary-capped league?
Reducing the contribution(s) of the owners perhaps?
So what does that cash go into given that it's a salary-capped league?
Potentially to the marquee pot or facilities.

Also preseason activities, travel, accomodation etc. I would assume

Or Both

So what does that cash go into given that it's a salary-capped league?
Left side of the balance sheet.
So that hopefully it'll come up evens without needing personal contributions for the first time ever.
Does this mean we now only need 7k crowds to break even?
Auckland will rise once more
