So this means Carlsberg instead of Tui on tap at the stadium.

Could it just be this? Read somewhere that it was up to whoever hired the stadium what beer they sold, so maybe Welnix are switching to Carlsberg  for this. A supplier deal rather than a sponsorship one.

Would have thought unlikely they'd forsake the sponsor value of a beer brand.

The Carlsberg Arena (Petone).

Has a nice ring to it.

Probably be the best in the world.

Independant are the only mainstream "brewer" that's spending $$$$ at the moment. DB/LN are maintain the status quo but not doing much new stuff (in the sponsorship space)... Independant are trying/hoping to take them on.

Sh!t beer tho.

Football United sponsorship?

Could be a way around the FFA's booze ban.

It might be direct ie from Europe rather than through IL

Shouldn't be - part of the distribution/brewing will identify how many million (and often how) you're going to spend building the brand (and volumes) in whatever market. More likely is a deal with the Aussie distributor (ie: they're kicking in a small amount given the brand exposure in their market).

So Nightz, when do we start the clock for you? You say when and we'll be all go. You want a piece of this too nufc? C'mon, let me see the fibre of your fabric lads.

It could well be for the Football United Tour only - I don't have that level of detail but it could well marry in with this anti alcohol sponsorship as it's not 'in season'. I heard the brand and vendor and that it was all hush hush. Not so hush hush as they would like.

That article implied that the anti-alcohol deal was a 2 year one starting June 2012...
That's right unless the Qzzy Govenment re-negotiates. But can't find any reference on google search yet - But the real money is in  Monster + RockStar.

All sponsorship deals to do with the Nix weather for League games or any other games need to be approved by FFA.

As for the FFA booze ban, I reckon it is just as they say - "against binge drinking".

So I do not know what the fuss is about. I tried binge-drinking Tui once, and had to stop after one bottle, as my senses rebelled against the taste of fermented muck . Now, if the sponsorship was by our own Harrington's (here in ChCh), that would never get past FFA.  I could easily binge on Harrington's. They used to make cheap & nasty flagon-style stuff some years ago, but now they're a craft brewery extraordinaire.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
