Personally don't think Sanchez is the answer - he was good, and can do a job for us, but I think itd be worth a punt trying to get someone else in that role. If he was good enough, Ricki would have played him at Attacking Mid

I think you will have at least another year to change your mind

Don't get me wrong, I like him as a player and I think offers something we need, but the fact Ricki couldnt play him in the center means he didnt think he was good enough to displace one of our other midfielders. If he was good enough, he would have made room.

If he does re-sign and play the whole season centrally then I will be thrilled, but if he goes back to wide then what is the point?

He would have dropped Brownie for him?

He could have put Ifill on the wing and didn't have to drop anyone (especially his favs).

I read in an article that Alex Terra, Rutger Wurm, and Maycon were all released by Heart.

Would Alex Terra be a good signing for us?

Izale Mcleod is off contract with Barnet. 27, quick striker, not on big money. 54 in 116 for MK Dons, didnt do it at Charlton but 32 in 73 for BarnetIn his prime, cheap and worth a look i reckon.

That is the type of player we would need. The right age. Someone send his video to RH

As a good honest AFC Wimbledon supporter, I am not having anyone who played for the Franchise and that's final.

Ideal, would definitely have him trial.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

I am intrigued by what Ricky said a few days ago re: speaking to UK clubs about the likelyhood of having some players at the Nix on trial. Whilst this would probably not apply to senior players, it could mean that we could get some seriosuly good youngsters here each season for next to nothing

I draw your attention to the following.

Northern Spirit - Glasgow Rangers

Football Kingz - Chelsea

Perth Glory - Manchester City

New Zealand Knights - Charlton

Central Coast Mariners - Sheffield United

...and many more.

It has never worked in favour of a local side and what sort of player is going to want to come here?

We need a striker who will knock in 15-20 A-League goals.  if you are good enough to score that many goals then you are looking for a loan in the Championship or League 1 to be seen by other English managers and your own, not wanting to go to the back of beyond where no one will ever see you play even if you have a 30 goal season.

I'd love to be proved wrong but at no stage has this proven to be successful.

If this sounds familiar or you would like it to sound familiar listen to Podcast v8.0 linked on the front page.

HN is right - it's Ricki trying to draw some positives from a trip that seems to have come up with nothing.

Drogba leaving Chelsea. I am sure for arounf $300,000 (per week) we could get him!

Would definitely violate the "no cocks" policy though. If we are going to go for the old, formerly world class, out of contract strikers pipe dream  I'd go for Raul!

He can roof it near stick? Stoked.

And he's off contract. Get in quick - has only just been released in the last few days. Got 23 goals in 53 appearances last season for Barnet

John Carew released by West Ham - he might be 32 but I reckon he would make a decent target man for us. Would probably need to be a marquee signing though.

Hogg looks good to me, showed more in one game then two ausi defenders of ours in a whole season He will be cheap and could even threaten lochead

Auckland will rise once more

We need some left sided cover in the squad, since it looks like we don't want Tsattalios. Hogg & Rowe would be the best Kiwi options I presume? Hogg would the the front runner of those two.

Hogg & Rowe are both quality, but I think Rowe is the better of the two. However Hogg must have the inside running now.

The thing about Lochhead is, I feel like hes just one more injury away from retirement, so we may actually end up wanting both.

Question: Could Hogg or Rowe play on the right?

Surely signing for us is the best way to stick the boot into the aussies again.

I'd second the calls for Hogg, but I wonder if he hadn't scored whether we'd be asking for his signature?

Another thought for you, if we get a massively kiwi-sided squad together (good for NZF) do we run the risk of the FFA making kiwi players 'foreigners' when they decide they want to focus the A-League on development of Aussie football? I.e. isn't it wise to not necessarily sign all kiwi players because 1) we dont have enough at A-League level, and 2) we're putting all our eggs in one basket?

No.  It won't happen (we won't biff the likes of Dura and Manny) and any spots for Aussies in the Phoenix is another Australian playing professional football so in their interest even if it's just one.

The balance swining more towards kiwi's is better for us and the NZ game but I don't see us ever being a de Facto national side.

Maybe I need to eat some humble pie, sounds like Grosso wants to come out for the lifestyle and isn't asking for marquee wages.

But his idea of marquee wages are probably 200k a week.
Lets just wait till he signs before you go eating the pie
