We also have plenty of defensive mid fielders, what is Cernak like? He's young at least.

Keat is more of a tim brown type player. But its not him if hes in the UK.

Don't rate Cernak tbh..... (neither do tards fans reading their forum)

No reason he can't sign from the UK.

Read this: http://www.melbournevictory.net/forum/showthread.php?57908-Victory-sign-Isaka-Cernak

and then this: http://www.melbournevictory.net/forum/showthread.php?57908-Victory-sign-Isaka-Cernak/page21

Pretty big fall from grace in the fans eyes, hopefully the potential that he had on page 1 is realised if he signs with us.

Not sure Cernak or Keat will add a lot. I guess getting a new face in will be good at the moment but neither is especially exciting. Hope if it is either of them it is short term.

No room for an International but found someone on twitter mentioning Bambang (or Bepe20 on Twitter), he had that trial for us and has no club at the moment.
Yeah the tweets don't really make sense.. but maybe something?

Gabriel Omar Baskoro @ gab_omar
hopefully mas @ bepe20 comfortable playing in the A-League and a duet with Benjamin Totori # HariIniPastiMenang

Omar 22hGabriel Baskoro @ gab_omar
mas Bepe @ bepe20 think will get closer to the club NZ Wellington Phoenix FC .. gudluck yes mas! :)

Hope Cernak isn't signed on a multi year deal.  Don't believe he is the long term answer, but could be a good move for this season given the limitation of no international spots remaining.

We've signed him. Not officially confirmed but it will be. I've seen most Vuctree games live since he joined and every time he has played he's been pretty horrid. Runs around like a headless chicken and doesn't really have a position that suits him. Poor signing and I'm not sure if we will ever learn that we shouldn't sign Victory rejects.

Where is the proof it's him. Just cause Melbourne released him, does not mean he is coming here.

Guy on victory forums , has been right about these things every other time as he's close to the club. Done deal.

I wish they would say how long he has been signed for.

Travelling the same path as old Vinnie Lia. But Hope he is new Ifill, doubt it though

Article says rest of the season

"for the remainder of the Hyundai A-League season"

Wasn't good at Victory. Though he had real potential at Fury, who knows?

Nice to have more options in the midfield, or is he just another fairly quick winger/attacking midfielder with youthful vigour but not too much else like we already have a hundred of.

The rest of the season.

Tbh, I'm just glad we've done anything this transfer window. Worth a shot for 3 months.

If its just for the rest of the season then got no problems with it ; bit of a nothing signing though . Ifill, Fenton , Boyd and even Totori are better players.

Three month contract, presumably cheapish, by a team that got spanked by a record margin at the weekend, and whose midfield has been described all season as prettymuch non-existent. Not sure how anyone can have any major complaints about this given the circumstances.

Welcome Cernak, hope you find some form and do well for us.

Permalink Permalink

Oh well, maybe he will prove his worth as some as our other A-League discards picked up in Jan  have proved in the past ie Dadi, and the 2 super GK we got?

OK signing all things considered. Was highly rated a couple of years ago and has played heaps of Oz under age stuff. We don't really need more wingers but if he can offer something in AM then it could be worth a shot

Agreed completely.

Haven't seen much of him but at least we are trying to fix the midfield problem.

In my eyes hes a winger, no doubt. Has poor positional sense. Hope he does well here , just not holding my breath as ive seen him play enough to make a judgement.

A little bouquet (in the current sea of misery) to the club for this recruitment - he's an Aussie (not an import), a midfielder (man we need some decent ones of those), would have been cheap and is only a short term commitment (in effect this is a trial).

I think the odds are he won't work out but it's very low risk and cost so well worth giving it a shot.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

so who drops off bench?

Another wide attacking player. Exactly what we need.

Guess he should push Totori out of the matchday squad, so it's something at least.

Think you are right on the money, but he might turn out to be the missing link. I love football because a player who is utter crap at one club can become a champ at another, due to change in enviorment or to prove other people wrong. We just don't know.

Welcome to the nix

I thought he was ok? Definitely willing to give him a chance and a new signing has my excitement levels for Sunday slightly higher than they were.

I liked him at fury. Seemed to have good pace and was dangerous when used well. Doesnt seem to have the same pace anymore - or hasnt used it.

Thought maybe he would become a different player under ange but nope.

think he offers something different in an AM role - not afraid to run at players through the middle which we done really have (well totori I guess).

To be honest id rather have him than totori

To be honest we could have signed anyone at all and I would have been happy. Long shot but it's a glimmer of hope on what has possibly been the most angsty day I can ever remember on the forums.

He played for Melbourne Victory. He must be good.

Hmm let everyone make their own opinion..

This doesn't really tell us much ,he looks reasonably combatitive and is fast but some terrible passing and attempted finishing on show here as well (might be why Ange P is getting shot of him) still at least he can't be any worse than the present midfield incumbents .

Give the man a chance we have nothing to lose really!

agreed, no idea about what he'll do but at least it's an effort to fix things in the middle.
