It sounds like it's a repeat of either the Reddy of Vukovic situation.

exactly, if we thought we could get someone better than Cernak then we should have signed them instead of him,

A bit hard when all we had to choose from were Kiwis or Australians. Some people aren't convinced on Caravella but IMHO a better player than Cernak, that ship has sailed.

so why the hell would we sign him, it's just helping out another team for next season. Let them play him and get him ready, all we are doing is delaying the inevitable

Here's an amazing thought. Perhaps he was the best available for our budget. The statement "we shouldn't sign players on short-term loan who already have long-term options lined up" is vying for "Auckland doesn't care about football" for Silliest Of The Month.

asking why we'd sign a player that's going to another club is fair - well I thought it was, sure maybe he fitted the budget. You can't deny it's a stop gap solution to a very serious ongoing issue - we have a very poor midfield at the moment and cernak seems to provide some creativity there - what he could offer us long term is now moot, we have him for three months and then we are back to the same old off season crap of dreaming about getting a creative mid of any ability.

Yes, and then 3 ditch our 3 wasted imports and find better ones. Say, don't they play in the midfield?

All I know is that we shouldn't be playing him - would rather Lindsay in there now. Seems absolutely pointless to play Cernak when he's buggering off in a few months.

We are more likely to win with Cernak playing than Lindsay. I'm not ready to throw away the rest of the season just quite yet #DontStopBelievin

seasons not over but yeah why play cernak now. lindsay and get keat. bugger off cernak.

If Lindsay is better, play him, if not play Cernak. 4 points off 5th....

Unbelivable this cernak business. Why wouldn't we have signed him for the rest of the season with an option for a further year in our favour? Bad, bad business and a lack of foresight by whoever (dome I assume) is in charge of such business.

Message to all half decent A League players who are out of favour with their clubs

"Don't worry chaps, if you can't find anything better, those no-hopers across the ditch will give you a few games just to keep you interested"

Pathetic

Gareth et. al - do what you like, take the Nix to Auckland wherever you like; For the first time since day 1 I won't be renewing my season ticket next year.

That is a bit harsh. Cernak has played 104 minutes for us, he had a good game up in Auckland but he is hardly the new messiah.

I doubt Cernak was signed by Glory before coming to us, otherwise they would have just made a straight swap for Makarounas who went the other way earlier. The club was playing it right and waiting to see how he turned out for us. Not their fault that the Glory threw a contract in front of him based on 1 game against them.

If you had read hard news said that he had looked to have signed the deal with Perth for next year before we signed him up

Never said he was the new messiah, but, Rojas and Ifill apart, I've seen enough to make me think he is potentially the most creative player the Nix have had since day 1. I think Cernak and Huysegems could have linked up real well. If he had any, Huysegems would be pulling his hair out with the lack of decent service from midfield. Still think he's a class player.

Even Totori could have looked like a class player against the Jets and the Glory. The real test will be against CCM.

I find that hard to believe (stomach if it is true). If Cernak is not in the side this week (which he shouldn't be) then I think we can safely assume he hadn't signed with Perth when he put pen to paper with us. If he is there, someone needs to be fired

we had a light squad, needed to improve the midfield to get off the bottom of the table, had to sign a kiwi or aussie and had a narrow window to sign in

is anybody really surprised we took Cernak, even if he would not sign an option with us for next season?  who else ya gonna call?

tough tough business, sure, ideal for us, no, but bad business management and a lack of foresight, don't think so

i still think he has more to offer than anybody else in midfield and i've not given up on hauling us into the playoffs

so i sure as heck would play him, unless we have some-one better ... who ya gonna call?

Regardless of all the BS, if we want to put out  the best team on Thursday and try for 3 points  then Cernak should be in the side. No good cutting off our nose to spite our face.

I think before anyone gets emotional about it, it is possible he may well have been negotiating before he came here. Its possible we may not have put a pitch into him or we decided to wait until the end of the season to see how he went before making in an offer. If its the latter then you can't deny the guy the chance to want to secure he future.

Um didn't Totori already rip the Jets apart in Newcastle earlier this season? I recall him waltzing through their team with ease and then missing an open goal... I suppose the end result of that kinda stopped him looking class though

even if it is not transfer speculation, please let's all agree that Totori would look out of place in Capital Premier!

I mean if we're talking sprinting, jeez he could probably win some kind of NZ competition, but talk about ball control, football brain, shot/passing accuracy, and ability to stay up when being challenged, his skills are very very average.

A lot of people have bitched about Alex Smith on this forum and said he is a waste of an import slot - to me Totori is much, much worse.

Running in a straight line and somehow managing to get through a couple of players and missing isn't exactly 'ripping them apart'. Totori flatters to deceive - no end product.
